Winnebago Boys go 0-2 in South Dakota; Girls go 1-1 in South Dakota, beat Wakefield-Allen in Sub-Districts

The Winnebago Boys Basketball Team lost 87-71 at Crow Creek, SD Friday night before losing 79-77 to McLaughlin, SD at the Sacred Hoops Classic in Crow Creek, SD on Saturday.

I thought the Indians did a nice job of competing against both teams.

Winnebago (8-12) battles GACC (11-11) on the road in Friday night's regular season finale.

The Bluejays won 46-45 at home over Fremont Bergan on Saturday.

GACC has won 2 out of their last 3 and is a much improved team from the past couple of years.

The Bluejays will be tough to beat, especially on their home floor.

GACC probably has the size advantage inside with Casey Doernemann and Adam Reeson.

The Indians' guards are probably faster and more athletic so it will be interesting to see what happens.

I feel like if Winnebago can get out and run and push tempo they will be at an advantage.

But if the game is at the Bluejays' pace and is a halfcourt, slow it down type of game then advantage GACC.

I look for the game to be really close and tightly contested.

It should be a great game between the two teams so it will be interesting to see what happens.

I feel Winnebago needs this one more than the Bluejays heading into the postseason.

I think the Indians really need the win to give themselves a boost for Sub-Districts next week and to get ready for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.

I feel like GACC already got their boost on Saturday and is set for the postseason win or lose.

I think Winnebago needs this one for confidence purposes.

If the Indians could win a game at the Bluejays' pace then I think it would really help them against the Raiders since both GACC and LVSS play a similar game.

Winnebago has to try and get out and run and gun as much as possible, and if they do then I feel the Indians will be a very dangerous team.

It should be a great game that comes down to the wire.

I feel like Winnebago has a fairly good shot of winning it, but the Bluejays are a good and solid team.

I feel like GACC being at home is an advantage for them too as opposed to if the game was in Winnebago.

The Winnebago Girls lost 73-28 at Crow Creek, SD Friday night before winning 60-52 over Dupree, SD at the Sacred Hoops Classic on Saturday. The Indians then turned around and beat Wakefield-Allen 51-33 in the C1-3 Sub-District Semifinals from Wisner-Pilger Tuesday night.

Good wins for the Indians on Friday and Tuesday.

Winnebago (14-9) takes on West Point-Beemer (21-5) in the Sub-District Final Thursday night.

The Cadets beat Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 49-30 in the other Semifinal Tuesday night.

This game could go one of two ways for the Indians.

Either Winnebago keeps up and hangs with West Point-Beemer the entire game or the Cadets jump out to a big lead and never look back.

I think it's imperative for the Indians to stick with West Point-Beemer the entire way.

If Winnebago hangs around and keeps things close I think they could very well pull the upset, but if the Indians fall behind early then I could see things getting out of hand.

This is the season more than likely for the Indians.

I'm not so sure Winnebago can get a wildcard into Sub-State with a loss.

Maddy Cleveland, Natasha Deal, Jayla Price, and Keisha Snyder all have to go off.

The Indians need great play from all four of these players and need them to lead the team.

Winnebago can't get down on themselves and give up if they fall behind.

The Indians have to stick with it and keep battling and fighting no matter what.

I feel both teams are fairly even on paper.

Winnebago might be a little better offensively and West Point-Beemer a bit stronger defensively.

I think a lot of this game is going to be mental.

The Indians have to stay in the game mentally, and not let the Cadets get in their heads.

Winnebago has to come out and play their game and do the things that have gotten them to this point in the season.

The Indians have to play loose and fearless, and can't be scared of or back down from West Point-Beemer whatsoever.

Winnebago has to try and go out there and do what they did to BRLD and prolong their season.

Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
