Wisner-Pilger Boys defeat Madison in regular season finale
The Wisner-Pilger Boys Basketball Team won 67-50 at Madison Friday night to conclude the regular season.
The Gators now turn their attention to Sub-Districts.
Wisner-Pilger (15-8) takes on Lutheran High Northeast (13-9) in the C2-5 Sub-District Semifinals at Wayne Tuesday night.
The Eagles lost 63-54 at home to Howells-Dodge in Friday night's regular season finale.
The two teams met at the beginning of the season with the Gators winning 56-47 in Wisner.
It should be an interesting second matchup for sure.
I feel like Wisner-Pilger will be locked and loaded and amped up and ready to go come Tuesday night.
I'm sure the Gators will be very dialed into what they are doing.
This is Wisner-Pilger's chance to make a run at State and get into the State Tournament.
Head Coach Duane Mendlik has had an extraordinary career, and for the Gators to get to State this year would be fitting for him.
It would be a great way for Wisner-Pilger to honor him for becoming the all-time winningest Coach in Nebraska High School Basketball History last year.
I am really pulling for the Gators and hope they are able to make it down to Lincoln.
Wisner-Pilger would likely have to beat Hartington Cedar Catholic in Thursday's Sub-District Final in order to make Sub-State though.
I feel like the Gators have a great chance to win this Sub-District and get to Sub-State.
It's now or never for Wisner-Pilger though.
The time has to be now for the Gators.
This is Wisner-Pilger's chance to breakthrough and make state.
The Gators have to do it right now for Coach Mendlik.
If Wisner-Pilger loses on Tuesday or Thursday there is no tomorrow for them as their season is over.
Let's hope my next post about the Gators is about them playing in a Sub-State Final.
Tip-off is set for 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
