Tekamah-Herman Boys lose to Fort Calhoun; Girls drop contest to Yutan in Sub-Districts
The Tekamah-Herman Boys Basketball Team lost 71-38 at home to Fort Calhoun last Thursday night.
The Pioneers led 19-8 after one, and outscored the Tigers 26-9 in the 2nd quarter to take a 45-17 lead into the locker room.
Rough game for Tekamah-Herman.
The Tigers (4-16) take on DC West (13-9) on the road Friday night in the regular season finale.
The Falcons lost 56-51 at home to Platteview Friday night.
Tekamah-Herman definitely has their work cut out for them in this one, but the Tigers have to go out there and put up a good fight.
Tekamah-Herman has to play hard and must be intense and must give it their all for four quarters.
The Tigers get West Point-Beemer in Sub-Districts on Monday in action that will be carried on 107.9 the Bull.
So Tekamah-Herman has to come out and play lights out and be on fire Friday night.
The Tigers have to use Friday night's game to get ready for Monday's contest.
I'm sure Tekamah-Herman is looking forward to showing the Cadets that they are a better team than what they showed the first time around.
The Tigers have to come out and fight hard and try and make a little run and push here at the end of the season.
Tekamah-Herman has to finish the season strong, and create some momentum for the postseason and heading into next year.
A couple of 4-win Girls teams made runs in the postseason so I don't see why that can't be the Tigers either.
Tekamah-Herman has to pick things up Friday night though.
I feel like the Tigers have been in a slump the last five games and have to find a way to snap out of it.
I think just seeing the ball go through the basket would be a huge and positive sign for Tekamah-Herman come Friday night.
If the Tigers can knock down some key early shots and hang with the Falcons then I don't see why they can't win.
Tekamah-Herman has to start their season over and regroup for Friday night's game.
Nothing can be done about how the last five games have gone, but the Tigers can control their effort the rest of the way.
The Tekamah-Herman Girls saw their season come to an end Tuesday night as they lost 44-24 to Yutan in the C2-2 Sub-District Semifinals from Logan View.
Not an easy way for the year to end for the Tigers, but Tekamah-Herman did a lot of nice things this year.
The Tigers end the season at 10-13.
Tekamah-Herman started the season 6-1 and went 4-12 the rest of the way.
Still though it was a good season for the Tigers in many ways.
Tekamah-Herman parts ways with Anna Wakehouse, Maggie Braniff, Greta Lindberg, and Jadyn Fleischman.
Those are four very talented players lost to graduation.
The Tigers return Maggie Sheets, Halle Olsen, Leann Hawkins, Elena Jetensky, and Kaitlyn Quick.
Five very good, solid, raw players that I feel have a lot of room for growth and improvement over the summer.
There's no doubt these girls will develop and turn into starters at the beginning of next year.
Still some big shoes to fill though with the loss of the departing seniors.
So the returning players and newcomers have their work cut out for them this offseason, but I think the success Tekamah-Herman had this past year will help these girls during the transition period this summer.
The Tigers have to take part in as many open gyms, team and summer camps, summer leagues, and offseason conditioning drills and weightlifting sessions as possible.
Tekamah-Herman has to really get after things this offseason and go out there and build off of what this year's team did.
The Tigers have to not only build off what this year's team did next year, but also make things even better.
Tekamah-Herman can definitely do that and has what it takes to do that as well, in my opinion.
It will be interesting to see what newcomers join the varsity squad next year.
The Tigers are going to need to develop some new bench players to go along with the starters.
Four big and key contributors were lost from this year, and that's not easy to replace.
I have no doubt Tekamah-Herman will find a way to make it happen though.
