West Point-Beemer Boys 0-4 in last four games; Girls 3-1 in same stretch
The West Point-Beemer Boys have hit a rough patch in their season as the Cadets lost 48-35 at Twin River last Friday night, 40-33 at home to Logan View/Scribner-Snyder on Saturday, 53-38 at Pierce Tuesday night, and 38-36 at home in overtime against Wayne Thursday night.
West Point-Beemer held an 11-6 lead on the Titans at the end of one. Twin River outscored the Cadets 15-10 in the second quarter to tie the game at 21 at halftime.
The Titans won the third quarter 13-10 to go up 34-31 at the end of three.
Twin River notched 14 fourth quarter points while holding West Point-Beemer to just 4.
Chase Streeter totaled 10 points and 10 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Tate Toelle registered 9 points while Austin Streeter notched 8 rebounds.
The Cadets led the Raiders 11-10 after one. The Raiders won the second quarter 6-4 to go up 16-15 at halftime.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder outscored West Point-Beemer 8-5 in the third quarter to lead 24-20 at the end of three.
The Raiders notched 16 fourth quarter points compared to 13 for the Cadets.
Chase Streeter had a team-high 12 points while Toelle and Blake Schroedter totaled 8 each.
The Bluejays jumped out to an 18-5 lead at the end of one. West Point-Beemer won the second quarter 10-9 to make it a 27-15 game at halftime.
Pierce outscored the Cadets 10-6 in the third quarter to go up 37-21 at the end of three.
West Point-Beemer recorded 17 fourth quarter points compared to 16 for the Bluejays.
Chase Streeter and Toelle each had 9 points while Ben Jahnke registered 7.
The Cadets led the Blue Devils 17-9 after one. West Point-Beemer won the second quarter 7-4 to take a 24-13 lead into the locker room.
Wayne outscored the Cadets 7-2 in the third quarter to make it a 26-20 game at the end of three.
The Blue Devils tripled up West Point-Beemer 9-3 in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 29 and send it into overtime.
Wayne outlasted the Cadets 9-7 in the extra session.
Schroedter finished with a team-high 8 points while Adam Niewohner chipped in 7.
West Point-Beemer had been playing so well as they had won four in a row. Now the Cadets know what the other end of a four-game streak feels like.
West Point-Beemer (7-12) hosts Bancroft-Rosalie (8-8) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament on Saturday.
The Cadets beat the Panthers 45-42 in Bancroft on January 9th.
Bancroft-Rosalie lost 80-50 at home to Winnebago Tuesday night.
This is a battle between two teams who are really struggling and could use a win.
The Panthers started the season off so promising, but have slipped as of late.
It wouldn't surprise me if Bancroft-Rosalie won, and it wouldn't shock me if West Point-Beemer won.
I think this game could truly go either way, just like the first matchup did.
The winner gets North Bend Central in North Bend on Monday so it will be interesting to see who prevails.
The biggest thing for the Cadets is to forget about what has happened lately.
West Point-Beemer has to have a short memory, and refocus themselves on the Panthers.
The winner has a chance to upset the top seeded Tigers, and I think either team is capable of giving North Bend Central a game.
We will see which team shows up to play on Saturday and who wants it more. It should be a good game, just like the first time these two teams met.
Listen to Saturday's game on 107.9 the Bull. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
The West Point-Beemer Girls continue to play good basketball, topping Twin River 54-37 on the road last Friday night, and Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 55-17 at home on Saturday, before losing 66-45 at Pierce Tuesday night. The Cadets turned around and beat Wayne 50-42 at home Thursday night.
West Point-Beemer led the Titans 9-5 after one. The Cadets outscored Twin River 19-10 in the second quarter to lead 28-15 at halftime.
West Point-Beemer won the second half 26-22.
Amanda Hansen had 31 points and 11 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. McKenzie Bruce added 11.
The Cadets led the Raiders 15-4 at the end of one. West Point-Beemer won the second quarter 12-8 to take a 27-12 lead into the locker room.
The Cadets blanked Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 18-0 in the third quarter to go up 45-12 after three.
West Point-Beemer doubled up the Raiders 10-5 in the fourth quarter.
Hansen led all scorers with 19 points. Bruce chipped in 14 while Taylor Weddle registered 11.
The Cadets and Bluejays were tied at 15 at the end of one. Pierce outscored West Point-Beemer 21-9 in the second quarter to take a 36-24 lead into the locker room.
The Bluejays won the third quarter 14-12 to go up 50-36 at the end of three.
Pierce notched 16 fourth quarter points and held the Cadets to just 9.
Hansen had a game-high 25 points and 7 rebounds.
West Point-Beemer held a 14-8 lead on the Blue Devils at the end of one. The Cadets won the second quarter 10-9 to take a 24-17 lead into the locker room.
Wayne outscored West Point-Beemer 14-12 in the third quarter to make it a 36-31 game at the end of three.
The Cadets notched 14 fourth quarter points compared to 11 for the Blue Devils.
Weddle finished with a team-high 18 points while Hansen totaled 17. Bethany Anderson added 9 points and 15 rebounds.
With the exception of the Pierce game, West Point-Beemer has played at a high level the last week or so.
The Cadets (17-2) battle Tekamah-Herman (13-6) in West Point Monday night in the East Husker Conference Tournament.
The Tigers beat Lyons-Decatur Northeast 65-56 in the first round of the tournament Friday night.
West Point-Beemer defeated Tekamah-Herman 57-38 in West Point on Saturday, January 16th.
This is a big game for the Cadets and another chance to show what they can do.
I expect this game to be closer than the first game was, but I still think West Point-Beemer will find a way to win.
The Cadets need to be on top of their game though. West Point-Beemer can't play sloppy and uninspired.
Hansen, Bruce, and Weddle all need to be on top of their games for the Cadets, and West Point-Beemer needs solid post play as well.
The Tigers have been playing good basketball lately. This isn't the same team the Cadets saw two weeks ago.
West Point-Beemer needs to be focused and ready to play.
This tournament is West Point-Beemer's to lose, in my opinion. The Cadets are the odds on favorite to take the crown this year, and need to play well in every game they have in this tournament.
Getting to Columbus and winning the championship is important if West Point-Beemer hopes to win sub districts and a district final, and make the state tournament.
Monday night's game is set to tip-off at 5:00 p.m.

Tekamah-Herman Girls Boys lose to North Bend Central; Girls upset Howells-Dodge and beat Omaha Mercy
The Tekamah-Herman Boys lost 74-42 at North Bend Central last Thursday night.
North Bend Central led Tekamah-Herman 16-7 after one. North Bend Central doubled up Tekamah-Herman 22-11 in the second quarter to go up 38-18 at halftime.
North Bend Central doubled up Tekamah-Herman 24-12 in the third quarter to lead 62-30 at the end of three.
Both teams scored 12 points in the fourth quarter.
Derek Haber had a team-high 15 points while Matt Gross totaled 14 points and 11 rebounds, good enough for a double-double.
Tekamah-Herman really struggled last time out. The game definitely didn't go the way Tekamah-Herman would have liked.
The Tigers (2-14) travel to Stanton on Saturday to battle the Mustangs (14-5) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament.
Stanton lost 57-53 at home to Twin River Tuesday night.
The Mustangs beat Tekamah-Herman 79-56 in the first game of the season.
I don't feel like a lot has changed for either team since that game, but perhaps the Tigers can play Stanton a little closer this time.
Anything can happen, especially in conference tournaments, and Tekamah-Herman has to play optimistic and believe that they can upset the Mustangs.
The Tigers are certainly going to have to play a much better game than they did in the season opening loss, but if players like Haber, Gross, and Gus Langley catch fire, watch out.
Tekamah-Herman doesn't have a lot of depth or scorers, but if the Tigers can get three or four players in double figures, things could be interesting.
Defense also has to be good for Tekamah-Herman. The Tigers have had trouble slowing people down this season so it will be interesting to see how Tekamah-Herman plays on that end of the floor.
The Tigers have to give it their all on Saturday and see what happens. If Tekamah-Herman keeps playing hard and perseveres, who knows, the Tigers may be the ones playing either Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family or Oakland-Craig in the winners bracket on Tuesday, assuming Tuesday's games get played.
We will see what Tekamah-Herman does on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
The Tekamah-Herman Girls upset then D-1 No. 1 Howells-Dodge 41-40 at home Friday night, and won 49-26 at home over Omaha Mercy Tuesday night.
The Tigers took a 9-2 lead on the Jaguars after one. Both teams scored 10 second quarter points, and the halftime score was 19-12 in favor of Tekamah-Herman.
Howells-Dodge outscored the Tigers 16-7 in the third quarter to go up 28-26 at the end of three.
Tekamah-Herman put up 15 fourth quarter points compared to 12 for the Jaguars.
Allie Snow had a game-high 13 points while Jess Fleischman totaled 12.
The Tigers led the Monarchs 14-4 after one. Tekamah-Herman outscored Omaha Mercy 17-5 in the second quarter to take a 31-9 lead into the locker room.
The Tigers won the third quarter 13-4 to go up 44-13 at the end of three.
The Monarchs put up 13 fourth quarter points compared to 5 for Tekamah-Herman.
Snow led all scorers with 14 points while Marin Jetensky totaled 11. Sammi Surber registered 8.
Defense was the name of the game in the Tigers' last two games. Tekamah-Herman really buckled down defensively and got the job done at that end of the floor.
The Tigers (12-6) battle Lyons-Decatur Northeast (11-5) in the East Husker Conference Tournament in Tekamah Friday night.
The Cougars defeated Oakland-Craig 57-55 at home Thursday night.
These two teams met in Lyons on Friday, January 8th with Lyons-Decatur Northeast winning 56-52.
Friday night's game should be another dandy between the two squads.
If Tekamah-Herman plays the way they have the last two games I think they have a good chance to win.
However, the Tigers lost to Oakland-Craig, and you can bet the Cougars will come ready to play.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast is a tough, resilient team. The Cougars had lost three out of their last four prior to beating the Knights so their ability to forget about losses and bounce back is obviously good.
This game could truly go either way, just like the first matchup did.
The game being in Tekamah really helps the Tigers. That could make all the difference for the Tigers, in my opinion.
Snow, Fleischman, Jetensky, and Surber all need to have superb games for Tekamah-Herman.
The Tigers need all of them to have big game scoring games, and the Tigers must continue to get the job done on the defensive side of the ball.
The winner gets West Point-Beemer on Monday so it will be interesting to see which team wants it more.
Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
Stanton Boys and Girls 2-1 in last three games
The Stanton Boys beat Crofton 55-48 on the road Friday night, and Lyons-Decatur Northeast 69-58 at home on Saturday before losing 57-53 at home to Twin River Tuesday night.
The Mustangs led the Warriors 19-10 after one. Crofton outscored Stanton 19-9 in the second quarter to lead 29-28 at halftime.
The Mustangs doubled up the Warriors 10-5 in the third quarter to go back up 38-34 at the end of three.
Stanton won the fourth quarter 17-14.
Trey Erbst led the way with 22 points. Josh Krentz had 12 while Miles Nickolite notched 10 points and 8 rebounds. Mitchael Sieh recorded 7 rebounds.
The Mustangs held a 16-15 lead on Lyons-Decatur Northeast at the end of one. The Cougars won the second quarter 14-10 to take a 29-26 lead into the locker room.
Stanton outscored Lyons-Decatur Northeast 24-11 in the third quarter to go up 50-40 at the end of three.
The Mustangs notched 19 fourth quarter points compared to 18 for the Cougars.
Erbst and Kyle Sperl each had 18 points to lead Stanton. Nickolite notched 13 points and 9 rebounds while Sieh scored 13.
Stanton suffered a tough defeat to the Titans, but played well enough to beat the Warriors and Cougars.
The Mustangs (14-5) take on Tekamah-Herman (2-14) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament on Saturday in Stanton.
Tekamah-Herman lost 74-42 at North Bend Central last Thursday night.
Tekamah-Herman has had a difficult season, and has yet to pick up a win in 2016.
The Tigers don't have a lot of players out for basketball so that limits what they can do in practice and during games.
Stanton should be able to take care of business. There's no reason to think that they won't.
Sperl, Nickolite, Sieh, Erbst, Krentz, and Brook Klinetobe all need to have good games for the Mustangs.
Stanton may only need half of them to get in double figures to win, but the more points they score, the better.
The Mustangs not only want to win, they want to win impressively.
The last thing Stanton wants is a close, hotly contested game with Tekamah-Herman.
I really think the Mustangs have a good chance to make a run in this tournament.
Stanton could very well see Twin River again, and what a game that would be.
First things first, the Mustangs have to take care of business against the Tigers. They should with no issues to advance to the second round on Tuesday or whenever the second round gets played.
Saturday's game is set to start at 6:00 p.m.
The Stanton Girls lost 72-34 at Crofton Friday night, won 65-55 at home over Lyons-Decatur Northeast on Saturday, and beat Twin River 60-38 at home Tuesday night.
The Warriors jumped out to a 22-9 lead on the Mustangs at the end of one. Crofton tripled up Stanton 9-3 in the second quarter to lead 31-12 at halftime.
The Warriors doubled up the Mustangs 24-12 in the third quarter to go up 55-24 at the end of three.
Crofton won the fourth quarter 17-10.
MacKenzie Brandl notched a team-high 11 points and 7 rebounds.
The Mustangs jumped on Lyons-Decatur Northeast 16-9 at the end of one. The Cougars won the second quarter 15-13 to make it a 29-24 game at halftime.
Stanton outscored Lyons-Decatur Northeast 20-11 in the third quarter to lead 49-35 at the end of three.
The Cougars notched 20 fourth quarter points compared to 16 for the Mustangs.
Hiliary Huss had a team-high 15 points while Bree Burtwhistle totaled 11. Brandl added 10 points while Jessie Brandl recorded 8 points and 8 rebounds. Leah Arens had 7 points and 9 rebounds.
Both Stanton and Twin River scored 12 first quarter points. The Mustangs outscored the Titans 22-6 in the second quarter to go up 34-18 at halftime.
Stanton doubled up Twin River 14-7 in the third quarter to lead 48-25 after three.
The Titans won the fourth quarter 13-12.
Huss led the way with 24 points. Jessie Brandl registered 11 while Burtwhistle, Wade, and MacKenzie Brandl notched 7 apiece.
The Mustangs have gotten stronger each game following the Crofton loss. Stanton followed that loss up with a ten point win and then a 22-point win.
The Mustangs (13-6) square off with Twin River (9-7) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament at Howells-Dodge Friday night.
It's always tough to beat a team twice in the same season, but I think Stanton will be up to the task.
The Mustangs dominated the Titans Tuesday night, and I see no reason why things won't be similar Friday night.
Perhaps Twin River didn't show a whole lot being as the two teams are playing again Friday night, but either way the Titans didn't have a good showing.
You can bet Twin River will play better and have a different game plan this time around though.
Whether that matters or not, I don't know, but one way or another I look for Stanton to win big again.
I don't know if the Mustangs will win by 20+ again, but I think anywhere from 15-20 or 10-15 points is very doable.
Stanton will likely play Howells-Dodge in the second round of the tournament on Monday so the Mustangs need to play well against the Titans so they can get ready and geared up for the Jaguars.
I think the Mustangs have a chance to do some damage in this tournament again, and perhaps win it, but it's not going to be easy.
There are a lot of good girls teams this year in the East Husker Conference, and I could see a number of teams getting to Columbus and winning the whole thing.
There aren't a lot of games before the postseason so Stanton has to make every game count from here on out.
Friday night's game is set to start after the Howells-Dodge/Logan View/Scribner-Snyder game, which is set to start at 6:00 p.m.
Bancroft-Rosalie Boys lose to Ponca and Winnebago; Girls lose to Ponca, beat Winnebago
The Bancroft-Rosalie Boys continue to struggle as the Panthers lost 49-37 at Ponca Friday night before falling 80-50 at home to Winnebago Tuesday night.
Ponca jumped out to a 16-6 lead at the end of one. Bancroft-Rosalie outscored the Indians 17-5 in the second quarter to take a 23-21 lead into the locker room.
Ponca won the third quarter 17-8 to go up 38-31 at the end of three.
The Indians notched 11 fourth quarter points compared to 6 for the Panthers.
Aaron Ras had a team-high 9 points and 7 rebounds. Mario Aldrich added 8 points while Dayne Wortman scored 7.
Winnebago jumped on Bancroft-Rosalie and led 21-5 after one. The Indians outscored the Panthers 26-8 in the second quarter to go up 47-13 at halftime.
Winnebago won the third quarter 25-12 to lead 72-25 at the end of three.
Bancroft-Rosalie notched 25 fourth quarter points and held the Indians to 8.
Aldrich had a team-high 18 points while Jacob Zuhlke totaled 9. Ras recorded 7 points and 7 rebounds while Wortman notched 7 points.
There's potential in this team as the Panthers showed in the second quarter of the Ponca game and the fourth quarter of the Winnebago game.
Bancroft-Rosalie (8-8) battles West Point-Beemer (7-11) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament in West Point on Saturday.
The Cadets lost 53-38 at Pierce Tuesday night, but beat the Panthers 45-42 in Bancroft on Saturday, January 9th.
Bancroft-Rosalie is definitely capable of beating West Point-Beemer, but the Panthers have to perform a lot better than they did against Winnebago Tuesday night.
Bancroft-Rosalie can't let teams beat them like that, especially on their home floor.
The Panthers have to take it upon themselves to play with pride and passion, and get this season headed back in the right direction.
I think Bancroft-Rosalie has the potential to win Saturday and do some damage in this tournament, but the Panthers have to get back to playing at the level they were earlier in the season.
I'm sort of surprised Bancroft-Rosalie has struggled so much in the second half of the season given what they did last year and the year before, and earlier this season.
It's a matter of the Panthers putting together a four quarter game, in my opinion.
Bancroft-Rosalie has to play well for four quarters if they want to knock off the Cadets and play North Bend Central on Tuesday.
The Panthers have to be energized and motivated to get the job done on Saturday. Revenge has to be on the minds of Bancroft-Rosalie's players as they prepare to take on West Point-Beemer on Saturday.
Listen to Saturday's game on 107.9 the Bull. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
The Bancroft-Rosalie Girls continue to play good basketball as the Panthers lost 64-57 at home to Ponca Friday night before winning 70-60 at home against Winnebago Tuesday night.
Bancroft-Rosalie led Ponca 10-8 after one. The Indians outscored the Panthers 17-12 in the second quarter to lead 25-22 at halftime.
Ponca won the third quarter 13-12 to go up 38-34 at the end of three.
The Indians scored 26 fourth quarter points compared to 23 for Bancroft-Rosalie.
Tess Nottleman had a team-high 15 points and 7 rebounds. Kelcee Bacon added 13 points while Kassidi Browning totaled 12. Paige Peters registered 10 points.
Winnebago jumped out to an 18-15 lead on the Panthers at the end of one. Bancroft-Rosalie outscored the Indians 21-15 in the second quarter to take a 36-33 lead into the locker room.
The Panthers tripled up Winnebago 15-5 in the third quarter to go up 51-38 after three.
The Indians won the fourth quarter 22-19.
Nottleman had a team-high 20 points. Browning and Vicki Gatzmeyer totaled 10 each while Hannah Flock registered 9. Peters added 8 points and 7 rebounds while Tiahna Bonneau pulled down 14 rebounds.
Bancroft-Rosalie played good against Ponca and even better against Winnebago. Things are really starting to come together for the Panthers.
Bancroft-Rosalie (6-10) gets ready for the East Husker Conference Tournament Friday night when the Panthers take on Pender (10-9) in Oakland.
The Pendragons lost 55-38 at Emerson-Hubbard Tuesday night.
I really think the Panthers have a chance to upset Pender.
The Pendragons beat Bancroft-Rosalie 50-39 earlier in the season, but the Panthers weren't playing as good as they are now.
Pender might be playing at about the same level they were earlier in the year, but it could be argued they're not based on Tuesday's score.
It's one game and certainly not a cause for concern, but the opportunity is there for Bancroft-Rosalie to win.
The Panthers have had such good balanced scoring as of late, and it's made a big difference.
Bancroft-Rosalie has really picked things up offensively the last four or five games.
It will be interesting to see if the Panthers can get the job done. I think Bancroft-Rosalie has a chance to play the role of spoiler if they can remain hot shooting the ball.
It should be an interesting game Friday night. We will see if the Panthers can get the job done.
The game can be heard on 107.9 the Bull. Tip-off will be after the Oakland-Craig/Clarkson/Leigh game, which is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.

Wisner-Pilger Boys beat Pender, lose to Clarkson/Leigh; Girls lose to Pendragons, top Patriots
The Wisner-Pilger Boys beat Pender 71-31 on the road Thursday night before dropping a 56-53 decision at Clarkson/Leigh Tuesday night.
The Gators jumped out to a 20-8 lead on the Pendragons at the end of one. Wisner-Pilger won the second quarter 11-5 to take a 31-13 lead into the locker room.
The Gators outscored Pender 22-7 in the third quarter to go up 53-20 at the end of three.
Wisner-Pilger put up 18 fourth quarter points compared to 11 for the Pendragons.
The Patriots jumped on the Gators and led 26-16 at the end of one. Wisner-Pilger won the second quarter 10-3 to make it a 29-26 game at halftime.
The Gators outscored Clarkson/Leigh 22-12 in the third quarter to go up 48-41 at the end of three.
The Patriots tripled up Wisner-Pilger 15-5 in the fourth quarter.
It was a tale of two games for the Gators. Wisner-Pilger played really well against Pender, but not so well against Clarkson/Leigh.
The Gators (7-8) host North Bend Central (15-1) Thursday night.
The Tigers defeated Madison 64-51 at home Tuesday night.
North Bend Central has been very consistent this year, and has played good basketball all season long.
Wisner-Pilger has been really up and down, but the potential is there for the Gators.
In my opinion, Wisner-Pilger has a chance to knock off the Tigers.
I'm not saying the Gators are going to get the job done, but a win is definitely possible given how close I believe these two teams are.
The real difference between the two squads, in my opinion, is the ability to win games.
North Bend Central has found a way to get the job done night in and night out while Wisner-Pilger is only getting the job done part of the time.
It's really hard saying what you are going to get from the Gators Thursday night, but given the result of Tuesday night's game, I'm willing to bet Wisner-Pilger will play well.
It will be interesting to see how things go and transpire Thursday night. The game can be heard on 107.9 the Bull with tip-off set right after the girls game, which is scheduled to start at 6:15 p.m.
The Wisner-Pilger Girls lost 56-54 at Pender Thursday night before winning 59-35 at Clarkson/Leigh Tuesday night.
The Gators jumped out to a 14-5 lead after one. The Pendragons outscored Wisner-Pilger 20-15 in the second quarter to make it a 29-25 game at halftime.
The Gators won the third quarter 14-10 to go up 43-35 at the end of three.
Pender put up 21 fourth quarter points and held Wisner-Pilger to 11 to pull out the come from behind win.
The Gators and Patriots were tied at 15 at the conclusion of the first quarter. Wisner-Pilger tripled up Clarkson/Leigh 18-6 in the second quarter to lead 33-21 at halftime.
The Gators won the third quarter 13-8 to go up 46-29 at the end of three.
Wisner-Pilger put up 13 fourth quarter points compared to 6 for the Patriots.
The Gators let one get away against the Pendragons. Wisner-Pilger made sure to take care of business against Clarkson/Leigh.
The Gators (9-7) host North Bend Central (13-2) Thursday night.
The Tigers won 54-32 at home against Madison Tuesday night.
North Bend Central has been a very good, consistent team this season, and has won seven in a row.
The Tigers are tough so Wisner-Pilger is definitely going to need to be on top of their game.
The Gators must have the same kind of effort they had against the Patriots.
Wisner-Pilger is no doubt going to need to play a complete game to come away with the victory.
The Gators have played really well at times this year. Wisner-Pilger has a couple of quality wins, but I feel like a win over North Bend Central would be the Gators' best win of the season so far.
It should be a really good battle Thursday night. Both teams could use a win for momentum purposes heading into the East Husker Conference Tournament.
It will be interesting to see who prevails. I like Wisner-Pilger's chances a lot better since they are at home. If the Gators were on the road I would lean more towards the Tigers winning, but with the game being in Wisner I feel it's a toss up.
Listen to Thursday night's game on 107.9 the Bull. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:15 p.m.
It should be a good game.
North Bend Central Boys and Girls down Oakland-Craig and Madison
The North Bend Central Boys are up to 15 wins on the season as the Tigers won 63-60 at Oakland-Craig Friday night and 64-51 at home against Madison Tuesday night.
The
Tigers led the Knights 13-8 after one. North Bend Central won the second quarter
24-18 to take a 37-26 lead into the locker room.
The Tigers outscored Oakland-Craig 16-14 in the third
quarter to lead 53-40 at the end of three.
The Knights doubled up North Bend Central 20-10 in the
fourth quarter.
Head Coach Jonathan
Baehr's team led much of the way but fell behind later in the game. "Yeah.
We knew coming in here that Oakland-Craig would be a tough team. They got some
guys that can really score the ball. And we did what we needed to do for pry
three quarters, and they outplayed us for quite a while in the 4th, and we just
had to find a way to get it done. A lot of credit to them for continuing to
battle, and a lot of credit to our guys for staying strong and finding a way to
get it done after getting down three."
The Tigers and Dragons were tied at 11 at the end of one. North Bend Central outscored Madison 21-17 in the second quarter to lead 32-28 at halftime.
The Tigers won the third quarter 11-8 to go up 43-36 at the end of three.
North Bend Central notched 21 fourth quarter points compared to 15 for the Dragons.
Jake Wieftfeld had a team-high 19 points while Matt Ortmeier totaled 14. Tanner Wietfeld recorded 13 while Jake Cleveringa notched 11.
The Tigers have played exceptional basketball the entire season. North Bend Central just keeps on winning.
The Tigers (15-1) square off with Wisner-Pilger (7-8) in Wisner Thursday night.
The Gators are coming off a 56-53 loss at Clarkson/Leigh Tuesday night.
Wisner-Pilger has been so up and down this season it's hard to know what you are going to get from them.
The Gators beat Pender by 40 and then turnaround and lose to the Patriots. Wisner-Pilger is a hard team to figure out.
North Bend Central can't be deceived by the Gators' loss to Clarkson/Leigh though. The Tigers must understand that they are going to get Wisner-Pilger's best shot, and need to be ready to play.
North Bend Central has to score the ball the way they did against Madison. Getting four players in double figures is a recipe for success, and the Tigers need to continue to get that kind of production out of their stars.
It should be an interesting game Thursday night. I think North Bend Central will win, but I think the game will be close.
The game being in Wisner really helps the Gators.
You can bet Wisner-Pilger will be fired up and ready to go given what happened Tuesday night. The Gators will no doubt give the Tigers all they can handle and then some.
Listen to Thursday night's game on 107.9 the Bull. It's set to start after the girls game, which is slated for a 6:15 p.m. start.
The North Bend Central Girls defeated Oakland-Craig 48-40 on the road Friday night and won 54-32 at home over Madison Tuesday night.
The
Tigers led the Knights 13-12 after one. North Bend Central outscored the Knights 17-6 in
the second quarter to go up 30-18 at halftime.
Both teams scored 10 third quarter points, and the score
after three was 40-28 in favor of the Tigers.
Oakland-Craig won the fourth quarter 12-8.
The Tigers led the Dragons 14-9 after one. North Bend Central blanked Madison 21-0 in the second quarter to lead 35-9 at halftime.
The Tigers won the third quarter 15-8 to go up 50-17 at the end of three.
The Dragons outscored North Bend Central 15-4 in the fourth quarter.
The Tigers continue to play really good basketball. The Oakland-Craig win was a big one for North Bend Central.
The Tigers (13-2) take on Wisner-Pilger (9-7) on the road Thursday night.
The Gators beat Clarkson/Leigh 59-35 on the road Tuesday night.
Wisner-Pilger is a quality team, and has taken some teams by surprise this year, in my opinion.
The Gators have beaten or at least challenged quite a few good teams on their schedule.
I definitely feel that Wisner-Pilger is a better team than their record indicates.
The Gators should have North Bend Central's attention. The Tigers probably know by now that they can't take Wisner-Pilger lightly.
Every game is tough, and every team, including the Gators, are going to give North Bend Central their best shot.
The Tigers have to be mentally and physically tough to withstand the challenge Wisner-Pilger will no doubt provide them.
North Bend Central hasn't won seven games in a row for nothing though, and so I look for the Tigers to play the Gators very tough.
Listen to Thursday night's game on 107.9 the Bull. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:15 p.m.
It should be a fun filled, action packed night of high school basketball on the Bull.
Oakland-Craig Boys lose to North Bend Central and Mead; Girls lose to Tigers, beat Raiders
The Oakland-Craig Boys lost 63-60 at home to North Bend Central Friday night, and fell 71-33 at Mead Tuesday night.
The Tigers led the Knights 13-8 after one. North Bend Central won the second quarter 24-18 to take a 37-26 lead into the locker room.
The Tigers outscored Oakland-Craig 16-14 in the third quarter to lead 53-40 at the end of three.
The Knights doubled up North Bend Central 20-10 in the fourth quarter.
Garrett Seagren led the way with 26 points and 8 rebounds. Carter Thiele added 18 points and 8 rebounds while Cole Mitchell notched 13 points.
The Raiders staked claim to a 22-13 lead at the end of one. Mead won the second quarter 18-11 to take a 40-24 lead into the locker room.
The Raiders outscored the Knights 14-4 in the third quarter to lead 54-28 after three.
Mead notched 17 fourth quarter points and held Oakland-Craig to 5.
Seagren, Thiele, and Evan Reinert each had 9 points to pace the Knights.
Oakland-Craig played a pretty good game against North Bend Central. It doesn't appear the Knights came to play against Mead, especially in the second half.
Oakland-Craig (6-11) takes on Lyons-Decatur Northeast (11-3) on the road Thursday night.
The Cougars lost 69-58 at Stanton on Saturday.
Despite the loss, Lyons-Decatur Northeast has been pretty consistent this year.
The Cougars boast Alec Anderson, Marcus Hegy, Montana Riecken, Cole Christoffersen, and others.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast is a solid team who has played pretty good ball this season.
The Cougars did lose to Mead by 19 points, but were in that game until the fourth quarter.
The Knights need the same type of effort they got against North Bend Central. The way Oakland-Craig played against Mead is unacceptable and no doubt frustrating.
The Knights are a better team than what they showed against the Raiders, and I'm sure they can't wait to get back out on the court.
If I'm an Oakland-Craig player I'm absolutely disgusted by what happened Tuesday night.
I would want to get back out there right away and get the bad taste out of my mouth.
I think the Knights have a chance to play better and win Thursday night, but it's not going to be easy.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast doesn't really beat themselves and is a tough team.
It's going to take Oakland-Craig's best effort for the Knights to come away with the win.
Oakland-Craig can forget about winning if they play the way they did against Mead.
The Oakland-Craig Girls fell 48-40 at home to North Bend Central Friday night before winning 54-46 at Mead Tuesday night.
The Tigers led 13-12 after one. North Bend Central outscored the Knights 17-6 in the second quarter to go up 30-18 at halftime.
Both teams scored 10 third quarter points, and the score after three was 40-28 in favor of the Tigers.
Oakland-Craig won the fourth quarter 12-8.
Brynn Charling led the way with 18 points and 7 rebounds while Dacey Nelson totaled 15 points.
The Raiders led the Knights 14-13 after one. Oakland-Craig outscored Mead 19-9 in the second quarter to take a 32-23 lead into the locker room.
The Knights won the fourth quarter 12-11 to go up 44-34 at the end of three.
The Raiders put up 12 fourth quarter points compared to 10 for Oakland-Craig.
Charling had 22 points to lead the way while Bailey Charling added 17. Nelson chipped in 13.
The two games were pretty much identical except the Knights were the team that had a big second quarter against Mead, whereas North Bend Central had a big second quarter in that game.
Oakland-Craig (13-3) takes on Lyons-Decatur Northeast (10-5) on the road Thursday night.
The Cougars lost 65-55 at Stanton on Saturday and have dropped three out of their last four.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast has certainly hit a rough patch in their season as of late, but you can get the Cougars will go hard and be ready to play come Thursday night.
The Knights need to be ready for a tough, physical game, and be ready to go toe-to-toe, blow to blow with Lyons-Decatur Northeast.
Oakland-Craig will no doubt get the Cougars' best shot so the Knights need to be on top of their game.
Brynn and Bailey Charling, Nelson, Emma Reinert, Olivia Bures, and Melanie Snader all need to have big games for Oakland-Craig.
I'm not so sure the Knights can win if they play the way they have the last two games. It's not that Oakland-Craig played bad, because they didn't, but the Knights need to step things up in a big way, especially on offense, against Lyons-Decatur Northeast.
Bures, Snader, and Reinert need to step up and score for Oakland-Craig. I'm not saying they have to go on a terror and score 20 points each, but somewhere in the 7-10 point range for each player would be ideal.
It's getting down to crunch time, and the Knights want to be playing their best basketball come the postseason.
We will see what Oakland-Craig can do Thursday night.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast Boys beat Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family, lose to Stanton; Girls fall to both
The Lyons-Decatur Northeast Boys beat Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family 63-49 at home Friday night before losing 69-58 at Stanton on Saturday.
The Cougars jumped on the Bulldogs 23-9 after one. Both teams scored 11 second quarter points, and the halftime score was 34-20 in favor of Lyons-Decatur Northeast.
Both teams scored 6 third quarter points, and the Cougars led it 40-26 after three.
Both teams put up 23 fourth quarter points.
Marcus Hegy had a game-high 22 points. Alec Anderson notched 20 points and 9 rebounds while Cole Christoffersen added 10 points and 10 rebounds, good enough for a double-double.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast played a good game against both teams, it was just the third quarter that did the Cougars in against Stanton.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast (11-3) hosts Oakland-Craig (6-10) Thursday night.
The Knights lost 63-60 at home to North Bend Central Friday night.
Oakland-Craig is a better team than their record, in my opinion, and is capable of beating the Cougars.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast has been so good this year though that I really like their chances of coming away with a victory Thursday night.
Anderson, Christoffersen, Hegy, and Montana Riecken have been the real deal for the Cougars.
This should be a good game that comes down to the wire. A strong start and finish is the key to the game for Lyons-Decatur Northeast, in my opinion.
The Cougars have to start the way they did against Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family, and finish better than they did over the weekend.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast also can't have any bad quarters.
The Cougars have to forget about the loss to the Mustangs. Lyons-Decatur Northeast can't dwell on the setback, and must be focused, determined, and ready to play against the Knights.
I fully expect the Cougars to play well Thursday night. I think Lyons-Decatur Northeast will have a good bounce back performance.
What really helps the Cougars is they will have had almost an entire week to prepare for Oakland-Craig while the Knights only have a day or two to get ready for Lyons-Decatur Northeast.
The Lyons-Decatur Northeast Girls lost 61-49 at home to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Friday night, and fell 65-55 at Stanton on Saturday.
The Bulldogs led the Cougars 11-6 after one. Both teams scored 15 second quarter points, and the halftime score was 26-21 in favor of Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast won the third quarter 18-14 to make it a 40-39 game at the end of three.
The Bulldogs outscored the Cougars 21-10 in the fourth quarter.
Lexie Bacon had a game-high 18 points and 8 rebounds while Brianne Haskell added 17 points.
Bacon had a game-high 19 points. Mariah Jessen totaled 12 while Haskell and Kelly Wakeley notched 10 apiece. Abby Peterson chipped in 8 rebounds.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast has lost three out of their last four. The Cougars have certainly hit a bit of a rough stretch in their season.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast (10-5) hosts Oakland-Craig (12-3) Thursday night.
The Knights lost 48-40 at home to North Bend Central Friday night.
Oakland-Craig has certainly had a wonderful season, and will be another difficult challenge for the Cougars.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast has to find a way to persevere and overcome their recent struggles.
Mental and physical toughness is of paramount importance, especially with the Cougars only having 9 girls on their roster.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast has gotten the most out of themselves this season for the most part, but the Cougars have been struggling some as of late.
It's a really a case of Lyons-Decatur Northeast has ran into some tough teams.
One way or another though the Cougars have to play the hand they've been dealt. That means Lyons-Decatur Northeast has to step up their game and play better than they have in recent games.
I don't know if the Cougars can beat the Knights. Oakland-Craig is a really good team, and is tough.
I wouldn't put it past Lyons-Decatur Northeast to pull it off, but it's going to be difficult.
The Cougars have to maximize their ability and potential and hope the Knights are having an off night.
Guardian Angels Central Catholic Boys lose to O'Neill, beat Hartington Cedar Catholic; Girls top both
The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Boys lost 57-45 at home to O'Neill Friday night before winning 54-45 at Hartington Cedar Catholic on Saturday.
The Eagles led the Bluejays 20-14 after one. GACC won the second quarter 10-6 to make it a 26-24 game at halftime.
O'Neill outscored the Bluejays 13-10 in the third quarter to lead 39-34 at the end of three.
The Eagles notched 18 fourth quarter points and held GACC to 11.
The Bluejays are still playing good basketball. Even though GACC lost to O'Neill, they are still a quality team.
The Bluejays (12-4) battle Kearney Catholic (10-6) in Seward Thursday night.
The Stars lost 65-62 in overtime at Doniphan-Trumbull last Tuesday night.
Kearney Catholic is a fairly decent team, but I think GACC has a good chance to knock them off.
The Bluejays have played good, consistent basketball the entire season, and haven't lost to anyone they weren't supposed to lose to.
GACC lost to Norfolk Catholic by 8 while the Stars lost to the Knights by 11.
Based on that, one would think this is going to be a close game.
I tend to agree with that. I think Thursday night's game is going to be close and entertaining.
It's hard to say how the game is going to go with it being played at Concordia, but one way or another it should be a special night for the Bluejays.
Not often do teams get to play on college courts. GACC should take it all in and enjoy the moment.
The Bluejays can't get caught up in the awe of the court, but should like playing at a college court.
It will be interesting to see how the game goes. I think GACC will win, but I wouldn't be surprised if Kearney Catholic pulled it out. The game could truly go either way, in my opinion.
The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Girls defeated O'Neill 58-25 at home Friday night, and won 61-33 at Hartington Cedar Catholic on Saturday.
The Bluejays led the Eagles 22-2 after one. GACC outscored O'Neill 13-6 in the second quarter to take a 35-8 lead into the locker room.
The Bluejays tripled up the Eagles 15-5 in the third quarter to go up 50-13 at the end of three.
O'Neill notched 12 fourth quarter points compared to 8 for GACC.
The Bluejays led the Trojans 16-2 at the end of one. GACC won the second quarter 13-7 to take a 29-9 lead into the locker room.
The Bluejays outscored Hartington Cedar Catholic 17-10 in the third quarter to make it a 46-19 game at the end of three.
GACC put up 15 fourth quarter points compared to 14 for the Trojans.
The Bluejays played great basketball Friday night and Saturday. I'm not sure if GACC was at full strength for either game, but they took care of business in a resounding way both nights.
The Bluejays (17-0) square off with Kearney Catholic (15-1) Thursday night in Seward.
The Stars beat Wayne 59-31 on Saturday.
It's hard saying how this game will go as I don't know if GACC will be at full strength when the two teams play, but I think the Bluejays have a good chance to win.
Kearney Catholic is very good, but they have a loss to Hastings St. Cecilia, who is very good, but in my opinion, not as strong as GACC or even Crofton for that matter.
I think the Bluejays are a better and stronger team than the Stars.
GACC has just destroyed the competition this year outside of Crofton, and has played great basketball.
I don't know if the Bluejays will beat Kearney Catholic by 20+, but I think a 10-15 point win is not out of the realm of possibility.
GACC is a very good team, and I fully expect the Bluejays to play their best game Thursday night.
It should be a fun game and atmosphere. It's not often teams get to play on college courts as the game will be played at Concordia.
It must be business as usual for GACC, but the Bluejays should enjoy the game and atmosphere as well.
This game is no doubt going to help prepare GACC for the Mid-State Conference Tournament and the postseason.
This will be a really good test for the Bluejays. We will see what happens.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys down West Point-Beemer; Girls lose to Cadets
The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys beat West Point-Beemer 40-33 on the road Saturday.
The Cadets led 11-10 after one.
Ben Moxness had a team-high 12 points and 10 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Darnell Sims added 9 points while Hunter Schlueter totaled 7 rebounds.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder played really strong defense on Saturday. It was a good performance from the Raiders on the defensive end of the floor.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (9-6) hosts Howells-Dodge (7-9) Tuesday night.
The Jaguars won 69-41 at home over Pender on Saturday.
Howells-Dodge is a solid team even though they are below .500. The Jaguars have lost to some good teams.
The Raiders have to play just as well if not better than they did against West Point-Beemer.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder's defense has to be superb, and their offense has to be effective as well.
The Raiders must contest shots and defend Tyler Polacek, Nolan Lund, Mitchell Prusa, Luke Renter, and others well.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to box out and dive after loose balls.
Whoever can win the 50/50 balls could very well have the best chance of winning.
It should be a good, old fashioned street fight Tuesday night.
I look for both teams to play physical and get after one another.
Play could definitely be chippy or testy at times depending on the emotions of both teams.
Hopefully it's a well played, clean game. I certainly think it can be that way.
Listen to Tuesday night's game on 107.9 the Bull. It's scheduled to begin after the girls game, which is set to start at 6:00 p.m.
The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Girls ended the week with another quality opponent in West Point-Beemer, and the game was almost identical to the North Bend game.
The Raiders couldn't get going in the third quarter and fell by a final of 55-17.
Ashley Peters led the way with 6 points. Other scorers included Kaylee Boyle-5, Sierra Beacom-3, Paige Heinke-2, and Breanna Smith-1.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder gave it their all, but unfortunately, the Raiders' offense was not strong enough to win.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (3-12) hosts Howells-Dodge (12-4) Tuesday night.
The Jaguars escaped with a 65-64 home win over Pender on Saturday.
Howells-Dodge lost to Tekamah-Herman Friday night, only scoring 40 points, so if the Jaguars have another night like that and the Raiders can get their offense going, anything can happen.
Offense and defense have to be better for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder though. The Raiders have to force turnovers to get easy transition buckets, and at the same time, must take care of the ball to avoid fast break opportunities for the opponent.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to shoot with confidence. The Raiders have to believe that every shot is going in when they release it.
Obviously not every shot is going to go in, but if Logan View/Scribner-Snyder believes that, more shots may go in than if the Raiders don't believe every shot will go in.
There's certain things or tactics you can apply when struggling, and I think anything this team can do to boost their confidence is a positive thing.
It may or may not make a whole lot of difference, but Logan View/Scribner-Snyder should keep trying.
We will see what the Raiders can do. Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has a tough game at Twin River Thursday night before the East Husker Conference Tournament.
Listen to Tuesday night's game on 107.9 the Bull. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
Howells-Dodge Boys and Girls down Pender
The Howells-Dodge Boys defeated Pender 69-41 at home on Saturday.
The Jaguars doubled up Pender 18-9 in the first quarter. Howells-Dodge won the second quarter 17-9 to take a 35-18 lead into the locker room.
The Jaguars outscored the Pendragons 21-12 in the third quarter to make it a 56-30 game after three.
Howells-Dodge put up 13 fourth quarter points compared to 11 for Pender.
Nolan Lund led the way with 19 points while Tyler Polacek scored 18. Mitchell Prusa added 11 while Luke Renter registered 8 rebounds.
Head Coach Cole Fischer says it was a good win. ""I thought we were very efficient in our half court offense and got some really good looks. We played team basketball and a solid 4 quarters."
The Jaguars took care of business against the Pendragons as expected. It was a good win for Howells-Dodge.
The Jaguars (7-9) square off with Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (9-6) on the road Tuesday night.
The Raiders are coming off a 40-33 win at West Point-Beemer on Saturday.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder is a solid team, especially defensively.
Howells-Dodge will really have to work for good shots to score on this Raiders' defense.
Ben Moxness, Conner Gralheer, and Darnell Sims are the main scorers for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder. Those three really make this team go.
This should be a close, competitive game. I'm looking forward to listening to it while running the board on 107.9 the Bull, where the game can be heard.
It will be interesting to see who comes out on top. I think the game has all the makings of being a classic.
Polacek, Lund, Renter, Prusa, and others must have good games for the Jaguars to come away with the victory.
Howells-Dodge definitely has their work cut out for them, but I think the Jaguars are definitely capable of winning.
The Raiders are a good team, but they're beatable. I look for things to be tight between the two squads.
Once again you can catch the game on 107.9 the Bull. The game is set to begin after the girls game, which is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.
After losing to Tekamah-Herman Friday night, the Howells-Dodge Girls bounced back for a 65-64 home victory over Pender on Saturday.
The Jaguars doubled up Pender 14-7 in the first quarter. Howells-Dodge won the second quarter 17-16 to lead 31-23 at halftime.
Both teams scored 20 third quarter points, and the score after three was 51-43 in favor of the Jaguars.
The Pendragons outscored Howells-Dodge 21-14 in the fourth quarter.
Sam Brester finished with 16 points and 8 rebounds while Kalli Brester and Chelsea Bayer totaled 14 points apiece. Emily Ritzdorf added 10 points while Kelly Cech registered 7 points and 7 rebounds.
The Jaguars did a good job bouncing back following the difficult loss. It would of been real easy for Howells-Dodge to lay an egg and play uninspired.
The Jaguars (12-4) take on Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (3-12) on the road Tuesday night.
The Raiders lost 55-17 at West Point-Beemer on Saturday.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has really struggled to score this season, which is good news for Howells-Dodge.
I'm not suggesting the Jaguars take the Raiders lightly, because they shouldn't, but there's more room for error in this game than there would be against someone like West Point-Beemer.
With that said, Howells-Dodge wants to be sharp in this game.
The Jaguars don't want things to be close, and don't want to let Logan View/Scribner-Snyder hang around.
The longer the Raiders hang in there, and the longer the game is close, the better chance Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has of winning.
Howells-Dodge just assumes win big and go home with an easy victory.
I don't anticipate the Jaguars having a whole lot of trouble in this game, but if Howells-Dodge struggles offensively like they did against Tekamah-Herman, the game could be closer than some might think.
The Raiders have played good defense at times this year so that is what they hang their hat on.
Listen to Tuesday night's game on 107.9 the Bull. It's scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. The boys game will follow.
Emerson-Hubbard Boys and Girls beat Wakefield
The Emerson-Hubbard Boys beat Wakefield 57-46 on the road Friday night.
The Pirates staked claim to a 16-10 lead after one. Emerson-Hubbard outscored the Trojans 15-9 in the second quarter to lead 31-19 at halftime.
Wakefield won the third quarter 8-3 to make it a 34-27 game at the end of three.
The Pirates notched 23 fourth quarter points compared to 19 for the Trojans.
Tyler Haberman had a game-high 21 points and 18 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Taylor Donner added 13 points while Tyler Emmons scored 11.
This was probably one of Emerson-Hubbard's better wins of the year. The Pirates really played well for four quarters.
Emerson-Hubbard (6-9) hosts Pender (2-15) Tuesday night.
The Pendragons lost 69-41 at Howells-Dodge on Saturday.
It has been a difficult season for Pender, although the Pendragons have shown signs of life in their two wins.
The Pirates should win, but Emerson-Hubbard can't afford to overlook or take Pender lightly.
I look for this game to be fairly close. I think the Pirates will come out on top, but I could see things being decided between 10-15 points.
I'm sure the Pendragons will bring their best effort, which means Emerson-Hubbard better be ready to roll as well.
The Pirates have to continue to build upon the things they did well against Wakefield.
Emerson-Hubbard needs to execute their offense and play superb defense.
The Pirates have to try and slow down James Bensen, who is one of the top players for Pender.
Emerson-Hubbard has to play hard for four quarters, and play well for 32 minutes.
The Pirates can't afford to struggle or have an off night.
Emerson-Hubbard needs to have a good showing Tuesday night.
A win would be good heading into the Allen game Thursday night.
The Emerson-Hubbard Girls rolled to a 57-17 win at Wakefield Friday night.
The Pirates jumped out to a 23-5 lead at the end of one. Emerson-Hubbard outscored Wakefield 20-3 in the second quarter to lead 43-8 at halftime.
The Pirates won the third quarter 7-5 to go up 50-13 at the end of three.
Emerson-Hubbard put up 7 fourth quarter points compared to 4 for the Trojans.
The Pirates played really well Friday night. Emerson-Hubbard took care of business like expected.
The Pirates (14-1) square off with Pender (10-8) at home Tuesday night.
The two teams met in the Bob Clough Post Holiday Tournament on January 9th with Emerson-Hubbard prevailing 57-54.
The Pendragons fell 65-64 at Howells-Dodge on Saturday.
Pender has played a really tough schedule this year and has sort of played the role of giant slayer.
The Pendragons have come up short against a number of tough teams on their schedule, but have beaten some good teams as well.
There's no doubt Pender is capable of giving the Pirates another good game.
I expect things to be close like they were the first time around.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the Pendragons found a way to win.
Both these teams are good, and fairly equal despite the difference in record.
Pender has played a tougher schedule and that should no doubt benefit the Pendragons down the stretch.
I feel like Pender is a real threat to Emerson-Hubbard so the Pirates need to be ready to bring their "A" game for four quarters.
It will be real interesting to see how this one turns out. I could see things going either way.
