North Bend Central Boys 3-0 in last three games; Girls 2-0 in last two

The North Bend Central Boys are 3-0 in their last three games, downing Archbishop Bergan 51-35 at home on Saturday, Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 49-41 at home Monday night, and Tekamah-Herman 74-42 at home Thursday night.

The Tigers doubled up the Knights 12-6 in the first quarter. North Bend Central won the second quarter 12-11 to lead 24-17 at halftime.

The Tigers outscored Archbishop Bergan 15-8 in the third quarter to lead 39-25 at the end of three.

North Bend Central put up 12 fourth quarter points and held the Knights to 10.

Jake Wieftfeld led the way with 25 points while Matt Ortmeier totaled 8.

The Raiders led the Tigers 14-9 after one. North Bend Central won the second quarter 19-16 to make it a 30-28 game at halftime.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder outscored the Tigers 7-4 to lead 37-32 at the end of three.

The Tigers notched 17 fourth quarter points and limited the Raiders to 4.

Wieftfield finished with a game-high 18 points. Ortmeier notched 8 while Tanner Wietfeld registered 7.

North Bend Central led Tekamah-Herman 16-7 after one. North Bend Central doubled up Tekamah-Herman 22-11 in the second quarter to go up 38-18 at halftime.

North Bend Central doubled up Tekamah-Herman 24-12 in the third quarter to lead 62-30 at the end of three.

Both teams scored 12 points in the fourth quarter.

Wieftfeld led the way with 18 points. Jake Cleveringa and Hunter Oerman totaled 12 apiece. Ortmeier recorded 9.

North Bend Central has continued to play outstanding basketball. Nobody has been able to stop them as of late.

The Tigers (13-1) square off with Oakland-Craig (6-9) on the road Friday night.

The Knights beat Tekamah-Herman 76-60 at home Tuesday night.

Oakland-Craig is a quality team, in my opinion, but North Bend Central has been the more consistent team.

The Tigers have been better than the Knights to this point, although North Bend Central needs to continue to bring it on a nightly basis.

When Oakland-Craig is on, their offense is probably a little bit better than the Tigers', but North Bend Central is really starting to come on offensively in their own right.

This is a battle between two teams who are playing some good basketball right now.

The game being in Oakland should help the Knights, but I still think the Tigers are in good shape to pick up a win.

North Bend Central has been the model for consistency this season, and has outworked, outhustled, and wanted it more than their opponents this season.

I look for the Tigers to play with the same passion, desire, heart, and intensity they've played with all year, and get the job done.

It would be a big deal for North Bend Central to get to 14-1.

The North Bend Central Girls defeated Fremont Bergan 46-27 at home on Saturday before downing Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 55-18 at home Monday night.

The Tigers tripled up the Knights 9-3 in the first quarter. Fremont Bergan won the second quarter 12-8 to make it a 17-15 game at halftime.

North Bend Central outscored the Knights 18-7 in the third quarter to lead 35-22 at the end of three.

The Tigers notched 11 fourth quarter points compared to 5 for Fremont Bergan.

North Bend Central led the Raiders 13-5 after one. The Tigers won the second quarter 11-10 to take a 24-15 lead into the locker room.

North Bend Central blanked Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 16-0 in the third quarter to extend their lead to 40-15 at the end of three.

The Tigers notched 15 points in the fourth quarter and held the Raiders to 3.

North Bend Central really turned things on in the second halves of Saturday and Monday's games. The Tigers simply were not going to be denied.

North Bend Central (11-2) travels to Oakland Friday night to battle Oakland-Craig (12-2).

The Knights are coming off a 60-52 win at home over Tekamah-Herman Tuesday night.

Both teams have been on fire this entire season, and it has been impressive to see.

Neither team has had much difficulty slowing down opponents this season.

The biggest challenge for the Tigers though has been scoring points. North Bend Central might be behind Oakland-Craig in terms of offensive production.

However, the Tigers might be the stronger team defensively, and they are a second half team, so you can never count them out.

I think North Bend Central has a good chance to come away with a road victory Friday night.

Is it going to be tough? Yes. Is Oakland-Craig really good? Yes. But the Tigers are a tough, quality team too and will have a good showing I think.

The two keys for North Bend Central are scoring and defense. The Tigers have to slow down the Knights' offensive attack, and find ways to score easy baskets.

If North Bend Central can do those two things, they should put themselves in a pretty good position to win the game.
