Tekamah-Herman Boys and Girls lose to Lyons-Decatur Northeast

The Tekamah-Herman Boys lost Friday night at Lyons-Decatur Northeast, falling 60-43.

The Cougars led 11-2 after one. Lyons-Decatur Northeast outscored the Tigers 18-11 in the second quarter to take a 29-13 lead into the locker room.

Tekamah-Herman won the third quarter 13-10 to make it a 39-26 game at the end of three.

The Cougars amassed 21 fourth quarter points while the Tigers scored 17.

Derek Haber had a team-high 21 points and 7 rebounds for Tekamah-Herman. Gus Langley added 12 points while Nick Bohannon notched 7 rebounds.

Haber and Langley were the only players to do any scoring for Tekamah-Herman. The Tigers need more than two players to produce to be successful.

Tekamah-Herman (2-9) battles Clarkson/Leigh (1-11) on the road Tuesday night.

The Patriots lost 64-50 at home to North Bend Central Tuesday night.

It has been a real struggle this season for the Patriots, although I feel like Clarkson/Leigh is a better team than their record indicates.

The Patriots have a number of players who can score, including Tony Bruhn, Kobe Paprocki, Ben McMullin, Dominik Harper, and Colby Becker.

The Tigers are sort of a two-man show while Clarkson/Leigh is a five or six man show most nights.

The Patriots may be a more well rounded team offensively, but both teams really struggle on defense.

Clarkson/Leigh might be a little bit better offensively than Tekamah-Herman, but this is a game that could go either way.

If the Tigers can get other players besides Haber and Langley to step up, they very well could win.

Tekamah-Herman has to be ready to play four quarters of outstanding basketball. This is a very winnable game for the Tigers, and their play has to reflect that they know that.

Tekamah-Herman can't afford to play sloppy and uninspired, and show up not ready to play.

The Tigers have to be ready to go from the get go, and have to be prepared to give the Patriots a tough game for four quarters.

Catch Tuesday night's game on 107.9 the Bull. It's scheduled to begin after the girls game, which is set to start at 6:00 p.m.

The Tekamah-Herman Girls lost a tough game at Lyons-Decatur Northeast Friday night, falling 56-52.

The Cougars led the Tigers 12-11 at the end of one. Lyons-Decatur Northeast outscored Tekamah-Herman 15-8 in the second quarter to lead 27-19 at halftime.

The Tigers won the third quarter 17-15 to make it a 42-36 game at the end of three.

Tekamah-Herman notched 16 fourth quarter points compared to 14 for the Cougars.

I must say I was surprised the Tigers lost to Lyons-Decatur Northeast. Give the Cougars credit for winning, but Tekamah-Herman should have done better, in my opinion.

The Tigers (8-4) battle Clarkson/Leigh (3-9) on the road Tuesday night.

The Patriots lost 37-28 at home to North Bend Central last time out.

That's honestly not a bad loss for Clarkson/Leigh though. Tekamah-Herman had better be ready to play or the Tigers could get stung by the Patriots.

I fully expect Tekamah-Herman to come out hungry and determined given what happened Friday night, but I look for Clarkson/Leigh to put up a fight as well.

I think the Tigers will win, but given how close the Patriots' last game was, you can't count out Clarkson/Leigh.

The Patriots are at home, and have played solid defense at times this season. Clarkson/Leigh's biggest issue has been scoring.

Tekamah-Herman needs to have a big game offensively and play well on defense.

This is one of those games the Tigers need to win big.

The last thing Tekamah-Herman wants is the Patriots hanging around and making it a game of things.

I look for the Tigers to win, but I think the game will be closer than a lot of people think. Like I was saying, Tekamah-Herman needs to win big, but I don't know if it will happen.

Tuesday night's game is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. It can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.
