Oakland-Craig Boys lose to North Bend Central and Mead; Girls lose to Tigers, beat Raiders

The Oakland-Craig Boys lost 63-60 at home to North Bend Central Friday night, and fell 71-33 at Mead Tuesday night.

The Tigers led the Knights 13-8 after one. North Bend Central won the second quarter 24-18 to take a 37-26 lead into the locker room.

The Tigers outscored Oakland-Craig 16-14 in the third quarter to lead 53-40 at the end of three.

The Knights doubled up North Bend Central 20-10 in the fourth quarter.

Garrett Seagren led the way with 26 points and 8 rebounds. Carter Thiele added 18 points and 8 rebounds while Cole Mitchell notched 13 points.

The Raiders staked claim to a 22-13 lead at the end of one. Mead won the second quarter 18-11 to take a 40-24 lead into the locker room.

The Raiders outscored the Knights 14-4 in the third quarter to lead 54-28 after three.

Mead notched 17 fourth quarter points and held Oakland-Craig to 5.

Seagren, Thiele, and Evan Reinert each had 9 points to pace the Knights.

Oakland-Craig played a pretty good game against North Bend Central. It doesn't appear the Knights came to play against Mead, especially in the second half.

Oakland-Craig (6-11) takes on Lyons-Decatur Northeast (11-3) on the road Thursday night.

The Cougars lost 69-58 at Stanton on Saturday.

Despite the loss, Lyons-Decatur Northeast has been pretty consistent this year.

The Cougars boast Alec Anderson, Marcus Hegy, Montana Riecken, Cole Christoffersen, and others.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast is a solid team who has played pretty good ball this season.

The Cougars did lose to Mead by 19 points, but were in that game until the fourth quarter.

The Knights need the same type of effort they got against North Bend Central. The way Oakland-Craig played against Mead is unacceptable and no doubt frustrating.

The Knights are a better team than what they showed against the Raiders, and I'm sure they can't wait to get back out on the court.

If I'm an Oakland-Craig player I'm absolutely disgusted by what happened Tuesday night.

I would want to get back out there right away and get the bad taste out of my mouth.

I think the Knights have a chance to play better and win Thursday night, but it's not going to be easy.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast doesn't really beat themselves and is a tough team.

It's going to take Oakland-Craig's best effort for the Knights to come away with the win.

Oakland-Craig can forget about winning if they play the way they did against Mead.

The Oakland-Craig Girls fell 48-40 at home to North Bend Central Friday night before winning 54-46 at Mead Tuesday night.

The Tigers led 13-12 after one. North Bend Central outscored the Knights 17-6 in the second quarter to go up 30-18 at halftime.

Both teams scored 10 third quarter points, and the score after three was 40-28 in favor of the Tigers.

Oakland-Craig won the fourth quarter 12-8.

Brynn Charling led the way with 18 points and 7 rebounds while Dacey Nelson totaled 15 points.

The Raiders led the Knights 14-13 after one. Oakland-Craig outscored Mead 19-9 in the second quarter to take a 32-23 lead into the locker room.

The Knights won the fourth quarter 12-11 to go up 44-34 at the end of three.

The Raiders put up 12 fourth quarter points compared to 10 for Oakland-Craig.

Charling had 22 points to lead the way while Bailey Charling added 17. Nelson chipped in 13.

The two games were pretty much identical except the Knights were the team that had a big second quarter against Mead, whereas North Bend Central had a big second quarter in that game.

Oakland-Craig (13-3) takes on Lyons-Decatur Northeast (10-5) on the road Thursday night.

The Cougars lost 65-55 at Stanton on Saturday and have dropped three out of their last four.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast has certainly hit a rough patch in their season as of late, but you can get the Cougars will go hard and be ready to play come Thursday night.

The Knights need to be ready for a tough, physical game, and be ready to go toe-to-toe, blow to blow with Lyons-Decatur Northeast.

Oakland-Craig will no doubt get the Cougars' best shot so the Knights need to be on top of their game.

Brynn and Bailey Charling, Nelson, Emma Reinert, Olivia Bures, and Melanie Snader all need to have big games for Oakland-Craig.

I'm not so sure the Knights can win if they play the way they have the last two games. It's not that Oakland-Craig played bad, because they didn't, but the Knights need to step things up in a big way, especially on offense, against Lyons-Decatur Northeast.

Bures, Snader, and Reinert need to step up and score for Oakland-Craig. I'm not saying they have to go on a terror and score 20 points each, but somewhere in the 7-10 point range for each player would be ideal.

It's getting down to crunch time, and the Knights want to be playing their best basketball come the postseason.

We will see what Oakland-Craig can do Thursday night.
