Guardian Angels Central Catholic Boys 2-0 in last two games; Girls 3-0 in last three

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Boys are 2-0 in their last two games, defeating Boone Central/Newman Grove 52-50 at home on Saturday and Battle Creek 50-38 at home Tuesday night.

The Cardinals led the Bluejays 17-13 at the end of one. Boone Central/Newman Grove won the second quarter 12-9 to lead 29-22 at halftime.

GACC outscored the Cardinals 15-13 in the third quarter to make it a 42-37 game at the end of three.

The Bluejays put up 15 fourth quarter points and held Boone Central/Newman Grove to 8.

Kobe Slaughter had a team-high 14 points. Noah Kreikemeier notched 12 while Tanner Hass scored 7.

GACC led the Braves 18-7 after one. The Bluejays won the second quarter 11-8 to take a 29-15 lead into the locker room.

Battle Creek outscored GACC 15-7 in the third quarter to make it a 36-30 game after three.

The Bluejays put up 14 fourth quarter points and held the Braves to 8.

GACC has regained their form. The Bluejays are back to playing great basketball.

GACC (11-3) hosts O'Neill (12-2) Friday night.

The Eagles won 47-40 at Wagner, SD Tuesday night.

O'Neill is good, but the Eagles lost to Boone Central/Newman Grove.

If the Bluejays play up to their capability, and play the way they have the last two games, I think they have a pretty good shot to win.

But if GACC doesn't play as well as they have been lately then the door opens for O'Neill.

It should be a good game regardless though. I look for both teams to get after one another, and play well.

It should be a highly contested, emotional, and physical game. I'm sure both teams want to win really bad.

The team that can remain calm and make more plays down the stretch could very well be the victor.

The Bluejays have to be smart and aggressive, and play their hardest for 32 minutes.

GACC is definitely capable of beating the Eagles, they just have to put their minds to it.

A win would be big heading into the Hartington Cedar Catholic game on Saturday. No game is easy for the Bluejays, and their play has to reflect that.

I would imagine it will as GACC is playing about as well as anyone right now.

The Bluejays simply have to keep the magic and momentum going, and continue to see how far their hot play will take them.

Despite a couple of injuries, the Guardian Angels Central Catholic Girls continue to roll, taking out Boone Central/Newman Grove 59-33 at home on Saturday, Battle Creek 66-21 at home Tuesday night, and Wynot 63-42 at home Thursday night.

The Bluejays doubled up the Cardinals 18-9 in the first quarter. GACC won the second quarter 16-10 to go up 34-19 at halftime.

The Bluejays outscored Boone Central/Newman Grove 13-6 in the third quarter to lead 47-25 after three.

GACC put up 12 points in the fourth quarter and held the Cardinals to 8.

Katie Steuter led all scorers with 17 points. Lexis Haase added 16 while Kate Knobbe registered 7.

The Bluejays led the Braves 20-7 after one. GACC outscored Battle Creek 20-8 in the second quarter to take a 40-15 lead into the locker room.

The Bluejays won the third quarter 15-4 to go up 55-19 at the end of three.

GACC notched 11 fourth quarter points while holding the Braves to just 2.

The Bluejays held a 19-7 lead on the Blue Devils at the end of one. GACC won the second quarter 20-14 to go up 39-21 at halftime.

The Bluejays outscored Wynot 14-5 in the third quarter to lead 53-26 after three.

The Blue Devils put up 16 fourth quarter points and held GACC to 10.

Steuter had a game-high 18 points. Katey Brown chipped in 14 while Breanne Kreikemeier totaled 10. Lauren Wobken recorded 8 while Knobbe totaled 7.

Without Morgan Bracht and Maddie Knobbe, the Bluejays haven't been as dominant. They've still been dominant, but it's no secret that GACC needs those two back sooner rather than later.

The Bluejays (15-0) host O'Neill (7-8) Friday night.

The Eagles lost 47-46 at Wagner, SD Tuesday night.

O'Neill has beaten who they're supposed to for the most part, although the Eagles lost to Boone Central/Newman Grove.

The Bluejays, regardless of if they're at full strength or not, should post another huge victory Friday night.

GACC has played great basketball this entire season, and I look for the Bluejays to continue their winning ways Friday night.

GACC has a tough game at Hartington Cedar Catholic on Saturday so the Bluejays need to come away with a big win Friday night to set the stage for Saturday's game.

GACC is still a very good team despite their injuries.

The Bluejays will need Bracht and Knobbe back for the stretch run though. Things aren't exactly easy for GACC here on out.

The Bluejays have a number of tough games coming up so GACC needs to be at full strength for those contests.

Hopefully the Bluejays can get fully healthy and continue to dominate the way they have so far this season.

I imagine they will.
