Guardian Angels Central Catholic Boys 2-2 in last four games; Girls 3-0 in last three

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Boys were playing great basketball, but have all of a sudden hit a rough patch as the Bluejays have dropped their last two games.

The Bluejays won the Homer Holiday Tournament last week, defeating Howells-Dodge 72-35 last Tuesday and Bancroft-Rosalie 77-46 in the championship game last Wednesday.

GACC lost 59-51 at home to Norfolk Catholic on Saturday before falling 63-47 at Lutheran High Northeast Tuesday night.

The Bluejays led Howells-Dodge 19-9 at the end of one. GACC won the second quarter 16-11 to take a 35-20 lead into the locker room.

The Bluejays outscored the Jaguars 14-11 in the second quarter to make it a 49-31 game at the end of three.

GACC notched 23 fourth quarter points compared to just 4 for Howells-Dodge.

The Bluejays jumped out to a 22-6 lead on the Panthers at the end of one. GACC outscored Bancroft-Rosalie 29-14 in the second quarter to take a 51-20 lead into the locker room.

The Bluejays doubled up the Panthers 14-7 in the third quarter to lead 65-27 at the end of three.

Bancroft-Rosalie won the fourth quarter 19-12.

The Eagles led GACC 18-8 at the end of one. Lutheran High Northeast outscored the Bluejays 21-5 in the second quarter to take a 39-13 lead into the locker room.

GACC won the third quarter 8-7 to make it a 46-21 game at the end of three.

The Bluejays notched 26 fourth quarter points compared to 17 for the Eagles.

GACC didn't have their best against Lutheran High Northeast. I'm not totally sure what has happened to this team, but they're not playing the same kind of basketball they were prior to Saturday.

The Bluejays (8-3) host David City Aquinas (6-4) on Saturday.

The Monarchs beat Schuyler 46-31 on Thursday.

David City Aquinas is a quality team, but I feel this is a team GACC can beat and get back on track against.

The Monarchs have fallen to the tougher teams on their schedule this season, and I think the Bluejays could be the next quality team to knock them off.

GACC has to get back to playing at a high level though.

It's hard telling how the Bluejays played against the Knights, but the Lutheran High Northeast game was one to forget.

GACC has to get back to playing the type of basketball they did in the Holiday Tournament and before.

The Bluejays have to play with heart, hustle, great effort, toughness, grit, fire, and determination.

GACC has to play at a high level for four quarters, and must give maximum effort.

The Bluejays are much better than what they showed against the Eagles, and I look for GACC to have a bounce back game on Saturday.

The Bluejays have had more time to practice for this game than David City Aquinas has for them so that should help GACC.

We will see if the Bluejays can get back on track with a win on Saturday.

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Girls have continued their dominant play, winning the Homer Holiday Tournament last week by knocking off Bancroft-Rosalie 64-17 last Tuesday and Howells-Dodge 65-48 last Wednesday in the championship game.

The Bluejays defeated Wahoo 60-28 on Saturday.

The Bluejays jumped out to a 26-2 lead after one and outscored the Panthers 16-7 in the second quarter to take a 42-9 lead into the locker room.

GACC won the third quarter to make it a 53-13 game at the end of three. The Bluejays also won the fourth quarter 11-4.

The Bluejays led the Jaguars 15-14 after one. GACC outscored Howells-Dodge 20-9 in the second quarter to go up 35-23 at halftime.

Both teams scored 12 third quarter points, and the score at the end of three was 47-35 in favor of the Bluejays.

GACC won the fourth quarter 18-13.

The Bluejays have continued to dominate. GACC has played superb and impressive basketball so far this season.

The Bluejays (9-0) host David City Aquinas (5-5) on Saturday.

The Monarchs beat East Butler 55-36 at home on Thursday.

David City Aquinas is a fairly respectable team, but they're nowhere near the level that GACC is playing at right now.

There are great teams, good teams, average teams, and below average teams, and the Bluejays are certainly a great team while it could be said the Monarchs are average.

GACC has prided themselves on the defensive end of the floor this season, and that's the biggest reason why they are as good as they are, in my opinion.

The Bluejays' offense has been potent as well, and GACC is just one of those teams that keeps coming at you relentlessly for four quarters.

The Bluejays have so many weapons at their disposal, and that makes them a very tough team.

It's almost not fair with how much talent and skill GACC has.

The Bluejays have an extremely difficult game at Bishop Neumann on Tuesday so it's very important for GACC to play well on Saturday to build and prepare for that game.

The last thing the Bluejays can afford is to be looking ahead to Tuesday's game.

I don't think GACC will be overlooking the Monarchs though. I'm sure the Bluejays will play as hard and well as they have all season.
