Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys 2-1 in last three games; Girls 1-2 in same span
The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys are 2-1 in their last three games, downing Weeping Water 65-33 at home Friday night, and Wisner-Pilger 41-25 at home on Saturday, before falling 49-41 at North Bend Central Monday night.
The Raiders led the Indians 12-5 after one. Logan View/Scribner-Snyder won the second quarter 19-11 to take a 31-16 lead into the locker room.
The Raiders outscored Weeping Water 21-11 in the third quarter to go up 52-27 at the end of three.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder notched 13 fourth quarter points and held the Indians to 6.
Ben Moxness led all scorers with 21 points and 10 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Jacob Polk added 19 points while Darnell Sims registered 9.
The Raiders went up 16-8 on Wisner-Pilger at the end of one. Both teams scored 7 points in the second quarter, and the halftime score was 23-15 in favor of Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.
The Raiders outscored the Gators 10-3 in the third quarter to go up 33-18 after three.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder won the fourth quarter 8-7.
Sims had a team-high 10 points while Moxness recorded 9 points and 7 rebounds.
The Raiders led the Tigers 14-9 after one. North Bend Central won the second quarter 19-16 to make it a 30-28 game at halftime.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder outscored the Tigers 7-4 to lead 37-32 at the end of three.
The Tigers notched 17 fourth quarter points and limited the Raiders to 4.
Polk led the way with 13 points while Conner Gralheer totaled 10. Moxness notched 9 points and 8 rebounds.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has continued to play solid basketball. The Wisner-Pilger win was big, and the Raiders gave North Bend Central all they could handle.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (8-6) takes on West Point-Beemer (7-8) on the road Saturday.
The Cadets beat Pender 62-28 on the road Tuesday night.
This should be a really good game. West Point-Beemer beat Wisner-Pilger by 13 and the Raiders beat the Gators by 16 so with the game being in West Point this game could definitely go either way.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to watch out for Tate Toelle, Chase and Austin Streeter, Ben Jahnke, and Blake Schroedter.
These five players are the Cadets' main scorers and lead this team night in and night out.
Moxness, Polk, Sims, and Gralheer all need to step up and score for the Raiders to be successful.
I look for this to be a game in the 40's. Both teams are pretty solid defensively and decent on offense.
This game could come down to the little things like taking care of the ball, shot selection, making smart passes, getting to the free throw line, contesting shots, boxing out, and running the floor.
Whatever edge Logan View/Scribner-Snyder can get on the road, I'm sure they will take it.
The Raiders have to be determined to grind out a close win and must do the small things necessary to win the ball game.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to be focused at all times, and has to be physically and mentally tough.
I think the Raiders have a good chance to win, but it's going to be tough. West Point-Beemer has been on a roll lately.
The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Girls have struggled in their last two games after beating Weeping Water last week.
The Raiders second game of the week was 34-22 victory over Weeping Water. Defense was key for LVSS, especially late in the game allowing only 2 points in what was a tight game in the 4th quarter.
Kaylee Boyle led the was with a double double 16 points and 10 rebounds. Sierra Beacom and Paige Heinke were key late in the game and each added 6 points. Other scorers included Ashley Uhing-3, Abby Kahlandt-2, Breanna Smith-1.
The Raiders ended the week with a tough 61-9 loss to Wisner-Pilger. The Raiders got of to a slow start and were never able to get going on offense. Boyle, Heinke, and Kahlandt all scored 3 points in the defeat.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder lost 55-18 at North Bend Central Monday night.
North Bend Central led the Raiders 13-5 after one. The Tigers won the second quarter 11-10 to take a 24-15 lead into the locker room.
North Bend Central blanked Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 16-0 in the third quarter to extend their lead to 40-15 at the end of three.
The Tigers notched 15 points in the fourth quarter and held the Raiders to 3.
Uhing pulled down 8 rebounds.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder's offense has really struggled the last two games and the defense has sort of slipped as well.
The Raiders (3-11) look to get back on track Saturday with a win at West Point-Beemer (14-1).
The Cadets defeated Pender 54-46 on the road Tuesday night.
West Point-Beemer has been really good this season, thanks in large part to Amanda Hansen, McKenzie Bruce, and their defense.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder needs to be a lot better offensively and defensively than they have been in their last two games.
The Raiders have to be confident in themselves and believe in their abilities. Those are the two biggest things for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder, in my opinion.
Basketball is as much mental as it is physical.
Boyle and Uhing need to continue to be forces for the Raiders on the glass. Logan View/Scribner-Snyder really needs Boyle to have a nice game offensively as well.
It will be interesting to see if the Raiders can compete with the Cadets.
I think this game has a chance to get ugly, or it could be somewhat close depending on how both teams play.
West Point-Beemer has been really good this season, but they haven't been great. I think this game has a chance to be closer than some might think.
In order for that to happen though, Logan View/Scribner-Snyder is going to need to play a really good game.
We will see what happens on Saturday.
