Bancroft-Rosalie Boys 1-2, Girls 2-1 in last three games
The Bancroft-Rosalie Boys went 0-2 last week, and are 1-0 so far this week, as the Panthers fell 69-68 at home to Oakland-Craig Friday night, and 57-39 at home to Mead on Saturday, before knocking off Wakefield 67-59 at home Tuesday night.
The Panthers and Knights were tied at 12 after one. Bancroft-Rosalie won the second quarter 20-13 to take a 32-25 lead into the locker room.
The Panthers outscored Oakland-Craig 20-18 in the third quarter to go up 52-43 after three.
The Knights put up 26 fourth quarter points, and held Bancroft-Rosalie to 16.
Mario Aldrich had a team-high 23 points and 8 rebounds. Aaron Ras added 14 points and 13 rebounds, good enough for a double-double. Dayne Wortman totaled 9 points while Kenyan Lovejoy notched 7 points and 10 rebounds.
The Panthers led the Raiders 9-8 after one. Mead outscored Bancroft-Rosalie 23-12 in the second quarter to take a 31-21 lead into the locker room.
The Raiders won the third quarter 13-10 to go up 44-31 at the end of three.
Mead scored 13 fourth quarter points and held the Panthers to 8.
Ras led the way with 20 points and 11 rebounds to earn a double-double. Lovejoy chipped in 7 rebounds.
Head Coach Cory Meyer on the loss. "I have to give Mead and Coach Quinn a lot of credit. They played a very good game. They are a patient team and well disciplined. We didn't play to the best of our ability as a team. Overall, our shots didn't fall like they needed and turnovers seem to continue to haunt us."
The Trojans led Bancroft-Rosalie 15-14 at the end of one. The Panthers outscored Wakefield 19-9 in the second quarter to go up 33-24 at halftime.
The Trojans won the third quarter 16-14 to make it a 47-40 game at the end of three.
Bancroft-Rosalie scored 20 fourth quarter points compared to 19 for Wakefield.
Aldrich finished with a team-high 21 points. Jacob Zuhlke registered 15 while Ras scored 10. Michael Snyder totaled 8 while Wortman pulled down 9 rebounds.
The Panthers played a good game against the Trojans. Perhaps this is the win Bancroft-Rosalie needed to get their season headed back in the right direction.
The Panthers (8-6) travel to Ponca (10-5) Friday night.
Ponca lost 62-53 at Winnebago Tuesday night.
Ponca is a high quality team, and it's going to take a lot for Bancroft-Rosalie to win, in my opinion.
The Panthers have to play like they did in the second quarter against Wakefield for four quarters against the Indians.
That might be asking a lot, but given the way this team played Tuesday night, they are certainly capable of playing four really good quarters of basketball.
Bancroft-Rosalie finally won after losing so many in a row. The Panthers finally got that monkey off their back. Now the Panthers can simply go out and play basketball.
I look for Bancroft-Rosalie to make a run here at the end of the season. The schedule is favorable after the East Husker Conference Tournament, and I think the Panthers have what it takes to make a run towards the state tournament.
I look for Bancroft-Rosalie to compete with Ponca, and perhaps win.
I don't see the Panthers beating Winnebago, but certainly anything is possible.
Hopefully Bancroft-Rosalie has gotten back to being the dominant team they are capable of because it would be too bad if this team didn't make a run.
They're too good not to, in my opinion.
The Bancroft-Rosalie Girls are playing at a high level right now as the Panthers lost 65-53 at home to Oakland-Craig Friday night, but knocked off Mead 52-32 at home on Saturday, and won 66-35 at home over Wakefield Tuesday night.
Bancroft-Rosalie led the Knights 17-10 at the end of one. Oakland-Craig won the second quarter 19-13 to make it a 30-29 game at halftime.
The Knights doubled up the Panthers 16-8 in the third quarter to lead 45-38 after three.
Oakland-Craig outscored Bancroft-Rosalie 20-15 in the fourth quarter.
Paige Peters led all scorers with 22 points. Justice Johnson added 11 while Tess Nottleman registered 10 points and 8 rebounds. Vicki Gatzmeyer totaled 7 points.
The Panthers led the Raiders 13-11 after one. Bancroft-Rosalie outscored Mead 17-7 in the second quarter to take a 30-18 lead into the locker room.
The Panthers won the third quarter 8-7 to go up 38-25 after three.
Bancroft-Rosalie doubled up the Raiders 14-7 in the fourth quarter.
Tiahna Bonneau paced the Panthers with 15 points. Nottleman added 10 while Peters notched 8. Kassidi Browning and Kelcee Bacon totaled 7 apiece.
Bancroft-Rosalie is starting to turn the corner, or so it appears. I'm not sure what's gotten into this team, but the Panthers are starting to figure some things out.
Bancroft-Rosalie (5-9) hosts Ponca (8-6) Friday night.
Ponca won 66-56 at Winnebago Tuesday night.
Ponca's not a bad team, but they've stumbled to some of the tough teams on their schedule, and haven't played as well lately as they were early in the season.
I really think the Panthers have a chance to win.
It will be tough for Bancroft-Rosalie to knock off another C-2 school, but given the way the Panthers are playing right now, anything is possible.
Bancroft-Rosalie was so dominant against Mead and Wakefield that I just don't think you can count them out.
The Panthers have improved their scoring dramatically, and that's been the biggest difference, in my opinion.
Bancroft-Rosalie has a chance to make a little run here at the end of the regular season I think.
Don't count out the Panthers just yet. I think Bancroft-Rosalie has a chance to surprise a few people yet.
I look for the Panthers' offense and defense to be solid Friday night. I think Bancroft-Rosalie will show up and play a good game against the Indians.
A win would be big heading into next week's game with Winnebago and the East Husker Conference Tournament.
