Howells-Dodge Boys down Plainview; Girls beat Pirates and Lutheran High Northeast

The Howells-Dodge Boys defeated Plainview at home on Saturday, winning 49-35.

The Jaguars led the Pirates 13-7 after one. Howells-Dodge doubled up Plainview 12-6 in the second quarter to take a 25-13 lead into the locker room.

The Jaguars won the third quarter 11-10 to go up 36-23 at the end of three.

Howells-Dodge notched 13 fourth quarter points compared to 12 for the Pirates.

Tyler Polacek led the way with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Mitchell Prusa added 11 points while Nolan Lund had 8 rebounds.

Head Coach Cole Fischer on the win. "We came out played well in first half and got sloppy. Plainview played great in second half and we did not have an answer offensively. Overall, I'm very happy with this win."

Howells-Dodge (6-7) battles Wisner-Pilger (5-5) on the road Friday night.

The Gators downed Bancroft-Rosalie 50-41 on the road Thursday night.

Wisner-Pilger isn't a bad team, but they aren't great. The Gators have sort of been inconsistent this year, kind of like Howells-Dodge.

This is a toss up game if you ask me. The Jaguars have a lot to gain by winning and even playing this game for that matter while the Gators have a lot to lose.

Wisner-Pilger is expected to win being the bigger school.

That sort of pressure isn't on Howells-Dodge.

There shouldn't be any pressure on the Jaguars at all. Howells-Dodge should be able to go out and play their game, and treat the contest like any other.

The Jaguars have a lot to gain by playing and beating the Gators.

Wisner-Pilger doesn't have a lot lot to gain by beating Howells-Dodge.

This is just another game for the Gators.

The Jaguars have a real chance to earn some extra power points, and continue their winning ways.

Howells-Dodge didn't play bad on Saturday, but the Jaguars need to play much better Friday night if they want to knock off Wisner-Pilger.

The Howells-Dodge Girls defeated Plainview 50-15 at home on Saturday before knocking off Lutheran High Northeast 61-22 at home Tuesday night.

The Jaguars held a 18-5 advantage at the end of one against the Pirates. Howells-Dodge outscored Plainview 10-1 in the second quarter to lead 28-6 at halftime.

The Jaguars won the third quarter 13-3 to go up 41-9 at the end of three.

Howells-Dodge notched 9 fourth quarter points and held the Pirates 6.

Sam Brester recorded 20 points and 7 rebounds while Kalli Brester totaled 12 points.

The Jaguars led the Eagles 27-4 at the end of one. Howells-Dodge outscored Lutheran High Northeast 19-6 in the second quarter to take a 46-10 lead into the locker room.

The Jaguars won the third quarter 7-2 to go up 53-12 at the end of three.

The Eagles notched 10 fourth quarter points and held Howells-Dodge to 8.

Sam Brester finished with a game-high 17 points and 9 rebounds. Chelsea Bayer recorded 15 points while Macey Kulhanek added 8.

The Jaguars played tremendous basketball on Saturday and Tuesday. It's just what Howells-Dodge needed.

The Jaguars (9-3) take on Wisner-Pilger (7-4) on the road Friday night.

The Gators topped Bancroft-Rosalie 55-38 at home Thursday night.

This is going to be a difficult game for Howells-Dodge, in my opinion.

Wisner-Pilger has done some nice things this year, and has been a thorn in certain teams' backsides this season.

The Gators have played well this year, and perhaps have surprised some people.

The Jaguars should know all about Wisner-Pilger's exploits so far this season, and be ready to go four quarters with the Gators.

Howells-Dodge needs to play the way they did Saturday and Tuesday to pick up a win.

When the Jaguars play defense like that, they are going to be very difficult to beat.

It will be interesting to see if Howells-Dodge can maintain the high level of play they've had the last couple of ball games.

This Jaguars' team appears to be the real deal, and beating them is going to be quite difficult, in my opinion.

Howells-Dodge has Humphrey St. Francis on Saturday so neither game figures to be easy this weekend.

With that said, I think the Jaguars are very capable of winning both.
