Bancroft-Rosalie Boys and Girls lose to Wisner-Pilger and West Point-Beemer
The Bancroft-Rosalie Boys dropped two games last week, falling 50-41 at Wisner-Pilger Thursday night and 45-42 at home to West Point-Beemer on Saturday.
The Panthers and Gators were tied at 13 at the end of one. Wisner-Pilger won the second quarter 14-10 to go up 27-23 at halftime.
Bancroft-Rosalie outscored the Gators 9-8 in the third quarter to make it a 35-32 game at the end of three.
Wisner-Pilger notched 15 fourth quarter points and held the Panthers to 9.
Mario Aldrich had a team-high 13 points. Kenyan Lovejoy added 11.
Tate Toelle knocked down a three-pointer at the buzzer to lift the Cadets past Bancroft-Rosalie.
The game was tied at 15 at the end of one. West Point-Beemer won the second quarter 11-8 to lead 26-23 at halftime.
The Panthers outscored the Cadets 9-8 in the third quarter to close within 2 at 34-32 at the end of three.
West Point-Beemer put up 11 fourth quarter points compared to 10 for Bancroft-Rosalie.
Aldrich had a team-high 16 points while Aaron Ras notched 9.
The Panthers came close to winning last week, they just couldn't quite get over the hump.
Bancroft-Rosalie played better than they did against Cedar Bluffs and Guardian Angels Central Catholic, but the Panthers are still struggling.
Bancroft-Rosalie (7-4) looks to snap their four-game losing streak Friday night when they take on Oakland-Craig (4-8) at home.
The Knights lost 91-48 at home to Winnebago on Saturday after falling 75-58 at home to Stanton Friday night.
This is a game between two teams who could really use a win and get on the right track.
Both teams have athletes and scorers, it's simply a matter of putting everything together for a complete game.
Aldrich, Ras, Trent Gatewood, Lovejoy, Dayne Wortman, Jacob Zuhlke, and others need to step up for the Panthers.
Bancroft-Rosalie has plenty of athleticism and versatility so getting back on track at some point shouldn't be a problem.
I think it's just a matter of when for the Panthers.
Bancroft-Rosalie hopes it's sooner rather than later.
Oakland-Craig would be a good team to get back on track against. The Knights have struggled, but they're still a good team. It would be a real quality win for the Panthers.
Bancroft-Rosalie has to be a lot better offensively if they want to knock off Oakland-Craig. Scoring and defense for that matter have been big issues for the Panthers during their current losing streak.
We will see what Bancroft-Rosalie can do Friday night.
The Bancroft-Rosalie Girls lost 55-38 at Wisner-Pilger Thursday night, and fell 55-43 at home to West Point-Beemer on Saturday.
The Gators led the Panthers 13-9 at the end of one. Wisner-Pilger outscored Bancroft-Rosalie 21-2 in the second quarter to take a 34-11 lead into the locker room.
The Panthers won the third quarter 16-12 to make it a 46-27 lead after three.
Bancroft-Rosalie put up 11 fourth quarter points compared to 9 for the Gators.
Vicki Gatzmeyer finished with a team-high 19 points. Paige Peters added 7.
Head Coach Rod Peters on his girls leading early. "We came out and executed at the beginning of the game really well, and got up big. And were not able to continue that. I think they went on like a 30-2 run. We had some open looks, we just were not able to knock them down."
The Panthers led the Cadets 13-8 at the end of one. West Point-Beemer won the second quarter 17-11 to lead 25-24 at halftime.
The Cadets outscored Bancroft-Rosalie 15-8 in the third quarter to go up 40-32 at the end of three.
West Point-Beemer notched 15 fourth quarter points compared to 11 for the Panthers.
Hannah Flock had a team-high 9 points while Gatzmeyer registered 8 points and 7 rebounds. Tess Nottleman notched 7 points.
As you can see, Bancroft-Rosalie is good at starting off strong. The problem is sustaining a high level of play throughout.
The Panthers (3-8) host Oakland-Craig (9-2) Friday night.
The Knights beat Stanton 45-32 at home Friday night before downing Winnebago 61-45 at home Saturday night.
Oakland-Craig is certainly playing some really good basketball right now, and has continued to improve as the season has gone along.
The Knights are definitely a team to be reckoned with, and Bancroft-Rosalie needs to be ready to bring it for four quarters against Oakland-Craig.
Gatzmeyer, Flock, Nottleman, Peters, Kassidi Browning, and others all need to step up and score for the Panthers.
Scoring and stopping people have been Bancroft-Rosalie's biggest issues this season.
The Panthers have scored over 50 and held teams to under 35 in their three wins.
Bancroft-Rosalie has scored under 50 in every one of their losses, and has allowed 50 or more points in every loss but one.
There's a clear formula for winning, and the Panthers have found it. Now it's a matter of Bancroft-Rosalie becoming more consistent and finding that winning formula more often.
The Panthers have their work cut out for them, but anything can happen if Bancroft-Rosalie plays well for four quarters.
