Clarkson/Leigh Boys and Girls fall to North Bend Central
The Clarkson/Leigh Boys lost 64-50 at home to North Bend Central Tuesday night.
The Tigers held an 8-3 lead on the Patriots at the end of one. North Bend Central won the second quarter 18-16 to take a 26-19 lead into the locker room.
The Tigers outscored Clarkson/Leigh 19-11 in the third quarter to go up 45-30 at the end of three.
The Patriots notched 20 fourth quarter points compared to 19 for North Bend Central.
Kobe Paprocki led the way with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Colby Becker added 11 points while Ben McMullin notched 10 points and pulled down 8 rebounds. Dominik Harper totaled 7 points.
Clarkson/Leigh didn't play bad offensively against the Tigers. A number of players scored a lot of points as you can see. The problem was on defense, like it has been all season long for this team.
The Patriots (1-11) host Tekamah-Herman (2-9) Tuesday night.
The Tigers lost 60-43 at Lyons-Decatur Northeast Friday night.
Tekamah-Herman is led by Derek Haber and Gus Langley, who do the majority of the scoring for the Tigers.
Like I said in the Tekamah-Herman post, Clarkson/Leigh might be the more well rounded and better team offensively.
Both teams struggle to stop people.
This game could be decided by who wants it more and who plays better on both ends of the floor.
The Patriots have to clamp down defensively, and look to run offensively.
Clarkson/Leigh has to turn in one of their better performances of the season to come out on top.
The Patriots are due to break through, and I feel Clarkson/Leigh has a good chance to win Tuesday night.
It will be interesting to see what happens. I think a loss would be pretty devastating for the Patriots.
Clarkson/Leigh is due for and could really use a win.
The time is now for the Patriots to get the job done.
Tuesday night's game can be heard on 107.9 the Bull. The game is set to tip-off after the girls game, which is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
The Clarkson/Leigh Girls lost 37-28 at home to North Bend Central Tuesday night.
The Tigers led the Patriots 4-3 at the end of one. Clarkson/Leigh won the second quarter 13-9 to go up 16-13 at halftime.
North Bend Central outscored the Patriots 13-9 in the third quarter to lead 26-25 at the end of three.
The Tigers put up 11 points in the fourth quarter, and held Clarkson/Leigh to 3.
Beth Wiese paced the Patriots with 11 points. Hannah Kasik added 10.
Clarkson/Leigh played better in this game than I thought they would. Even though the Patriots lost, they have to be encouraged by the way they played.
Clarkson/Leigh (3-9) hosts Tekamah-Herman (8-4) Tuesday night.
The Tigers lost 56-52 at Lyons-Decatur Northeast Friday night.
Tekamah-Herman is a good team, but the Patriots have to be confident in their abilities given the way they played against North Bend Central.
Clarkson/Leigh has to slow down Allie Snow, Jess Fleischman, and Hannah Tobin, among others.
Scoring is going to be a big deal in this game. The Patriots have to find a way to put the ball in the basket.
The Tigers are probably more polished offensively and have more scorers than Clarkson/Leigh.
That simply means the Patriots have to develop some scorers and breakout on offense.
We will see what Clarkson/Leigh can do Tuesday night. I think the Patriots have the potential to make this game close, but I could see Clarkson/Leigh getting blown out as well.
A lot of it is going to depend on how well the Patriots play and execute, in my opinion.
Clarkson/Leigh has to limit turnovers and take care of the ball. Getting to the charity stripe and knocking down free throws will be important for the Patriots as well.
It's the little things that could make a big difference in this game for Clarkson/Leigh.
Listen to Tuesday night's game on 107.9 the Bull. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
