Clarkson/Leigh (2-15) hosts Wisner-Pilger (7-7) Tuesday night.
The Gators blew out Pender 71-31 on the road Thursday night.
Wisner-Pilger has been sort of up and down this year. The Gators have played really well at times, but have struggled at others.
This game has all the makings of being close and competitive.
I don't see Wisner-Pilger running away with things and blowing out the Patriots.
I look for Clarkson/Leigh to compete hard and play a good game, at least offensively.
We know the Patriots can score points. But can they stop the Gators? That's a question that remains to be answered Tuesday night.
That's the whole key to the game for me is Clarkson/Leigh's defense.
The Patriots aren't going to win many games until they start slowing people down.
Clarkson/Leigh is definitely capable of defeating Wisner-Pilger, they just have to buckle down on the defensive end of the floor.
We will find out how inspired this team is and how bad they want it. Things are winding down regular season wise for the Patriots so there's not a lot of time to get things turned around.
A win over the Gators would certainly be a momentum booster heading into the East Husker Conference Tournament.
The Clarkson/Leigh Girls were competitive last week, falling 42-29 at home to Twin River Thursday night, and 52-45 at home to Lutheran High Northeast Friday night.
The Titans doubled up the Patriots 8-4 in the first quarter. Twin River outscored Clarkson/Leigh 13-5 in the second quarter to take a 21-9 lead into the locker room.
The Titans won the third quarter 13-5 to make it a 34-14 game after three.
The Patriots notched 15 fourth quarter points and limited Twin River to 8.
Maddie Cerv finished with a team-high 10 points.
Clarkson/Leigh led the Eagles 11-10 at the end of one. The Patriots won the third quarter 16-13 to lead 27-23 at halftime.
Clarkson/Leigh outscored Lutheran High Northeast 15-14 in the third quarter to go up 42-37 after three.
The Eagles notched 15 fourth quarter points and limited the Patriots to just 3.
Shelby Paprocki had a team-high 13 points. Kaegan Held added 10 while Cerv totaled 7.
Clarkson/Leigh came so close to beating Lutheran High Northeast. The Patriots just weren't able to come through in the fourth quarter.
Clarkson/Leigh (3-14) hosts Wisner-Pilger (8-7) Tuesday night.
The Gators lost 56-54 at Pender Thursday night.
Wisner-Pilger is a good team, and has knocked off and hung with some quality opponents.
I feel like the Gators are definitely a better team than their record indicates.
With that said, I feel like the Patriots can hang right with Wisner-Pilger.
Clarkson/Leigh put up a really good fight against Lutheran High Northeast and put together a nice fourth quarter against Twin River, and if the Patriots can put things together for an entire game, a win is not out of the question.
Clarkson/Leigh just has to start making plays when it counts. The Patriots must come through in the clutch.
Wisner-Pilger has been good this year at times, but the Gators have also struggled at times.
Wisner-Pilger has a few blowout losses, but for the most part has been pretty solid.
The Gators have been more consistent than Clarkson/Leigh, and probably have a pretty good chance to win.
That's not to say the Patriots can't get the job done though because they can.
Again, I believe it comes down to Clarkson/Leigh playing a complete, four quarter game. That's the recipe for success in my eye.
