Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys 1-2 in last three games; Girls 0-3 in last three
The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys went 1-1 at the Logan View Holiday Tournament last week, losing 61-55 to Elmwood-Murdock last Tuesday before beating Arlington 53-28 last Wednesday.
The Raiders lost 47-33 to Pierce at home on Saturday.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder led the Knights 15-12 at the end of one. Elmwood-Murdock won the second quarter 18-12 to go up 30-27 at halftime.
The Knights outscored the Raiders 16-14 in the third quarter to extend their lead to 5 at 46-41 at the end of three.
Elmwood-Murdock put up 15 fourth quarter points compared to 14 for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.
Ben Moxness led the way with 23 points. Darnell Sims added 10 while Jacob Polk scored 9.
The Raiders led the Eagles 17-8 at the end of one. Logan View/Scribner-Snyder outscored Arlington 13-6 in the second quarter to take a 30-14 lead into the locker room.
The Raiders doubled up the Eagles 14-7 in the third quarter to go up 44-21 at the end of three.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder put up 9 points in the fourth quarter and held Arlington to 7.
Moxness and Polk notched 15 points each. Conner Gralheer added 7.
The Bluejays held a 17-7 lead on the Raiders at the end of one. Logan View/Scribner-Snyder won the second quarter 10-9 to make it a 26-17 game at halftime.
Pierce outscored the Raiders 10-8 in the third quarter to lead 36-25 at the end of three.
The Bluejays put up 11 fourth quarter points and limited Logan View/Scribner-Snyder to 8.
Moxness had a team-high 10 points while Sims and Polk totaled 8 and 7, respectively.
The Raiders played respectable basketball last week. Take away the first quarter against Pierce, and Logan View/Scribner-Snyder is right there.
The Raiders (4-5) take on North Bend Central (9-1) on the road Friday night.
The Tigers topped Clarkson/Leigh 64-50 on the road Tuesday night.
North Bend Central has been very good this year, but so has Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.
Both teams are having respectable seasons, and I think the Raiders have a chance to make things close and interesting with the Tigers.
North Bend Central has been good this season, but the Tigers haven't played the toughest schedule.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder is probably one of the tougher teams North Bend Central will have faced all year.
The Tigers may very well win, but win or lose, I look for the Raiders to put up a good fight.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has competed well all year, and I don't see that changing Friday night.
I look for Moxness, Sims, and Polk to all have big games for the Raiders.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has another tough game with Stanton on Saturday so this is definitely a big weekend of basketball for this program.
The Raiders need to show up and play well both nights.
The LVSS Girls Basketball team dropped a pair of games in the Logan View Holiday Tournament.
The Raiders faced Elmwood-Murdock in the opener and fell by a score of 40-26. The game was tied at 22 after three quarters, but Elmwood-Murdock used an 18 point fourth quarter to pull away.
Kaylee Boyle was the leading scorer for LVSS with 11 points. Other scorers included Paige Heinke-5, Sierra Beacom-3, Ashley Peters-3, Ashley Uhing-2, Grayce McCormick-1, MacKenzy Schreck-1.
The consolation game of the holiday tournament against Arlington was more of the same for the Raiders. The score was tied at 20 at the half, but Arlington's big second half spurred them to the 51-34 final score.
Ashley Uhing was the leading scorer for LVSS with 9 points. Other scorers included Kaylee Boyle-6, MacKenzy Schreck-6, Abby Kahlandt-4, Paige Heinke-3, Grayce McCormick-2, Sierra Beacom-2, Ashley Peters-2.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder lost 49-23 at Archbishop Bergan Tuesday night.
The Knights held a 12-5 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Archbishop Bergan doubled up the Raiders 14-7 in the second quarter to tie the game at 19 at halftime.
The Knights won the third quarter 12-7 to lead 31-26 at the end of three.
Archbishop Bergan notched 11 fourth quarter points while limiting Logan View/Scribner-Snyder to 4.
Boyle paced the Raiders with 10 points.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder competed well with Elmwood/Murdock. The Raiders just aren't able to play that complete game that gets them over the hump.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (1-8) takes on North Bend Central (8-2) on the road Friday night.
The Tigers won 37-28 at Clarkson/Leigh Tuesday night.
North Bend Central has been very good this season. The Tigers have played superb defense and have been effective offensively at times.
North Bend Central has been a little inconsistent, but has to be happy with where they are at this point in the season.
If the Raiders play the way they did in the first three quarters against Elmwood-Murdock and the first half against Arlington, I think this game could be interesting.
However, Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to play a complete game to win, in my opinion.
Playing well for two or three quarters is nice, but it's hard to beat people playing well for just part of the game.
The Raiders have to learn how to play four complete quarters of basketball. Not playing four quarters of solid basketball is the biggest thing holding this team back at this point, in my opinion.
This is a big weekend for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder. The Raiders also have Stanton on Saturday so Logan View/Scribner-Snyder needs to play well in both games to be competitive against both teams.
We will see what the Raiders can do this weekend. I certainly think this team's best basketball is ahead of them.
