Wisner-Pilger Boys beat Pender, lose to Clarkson/Leigh; Girls lose to Pendragons, top Patriots

The Wisner-Pilger Boys beat Pender 71-31 on the road Thursday night before dropping a 56-53 decision at Clarkson/Leigh Tuesday night.

The Gators jumped out to a 20-8 lead on the Pendragons at the end of one. Wisner-Pilger won the second quarter 11-5 to take a 31-13 lead into the locker room.

The Gators outscored Pender 22-7 in the third quarter to go up 53-20 at the end of three.

Wisner-Pilger put up 18 fourth quarter points compared to 11 for the Pendragons.

The Patriots jumped on the Gators and led 26-16 at the end of one. Wisner-Pilger won the second quarter 10-3 to make it a 29-26 game at halftime.

The Gators outscored Clarkson/Leigh 22-12 in the third quarter to go up 48-41 at the end of three.

The Patriots tripled up Wisner-Pilger 15-5 in the fourth quarter.

It was a tale of two games for the Gators. Wisner-Pilger played really well against Pender, but not so well against Clarkson/Leigh.

The Gators (7-8) host North Bend Central (15-1) Thursday night.

The Tigers defeated Madison 64-51 at home Tuesday night.

North Bend Central has been very consistent this year, and has played good basketball all season long.

Wisner-Pilger has been really up and down, but the potential is there for the Gators.

In my opinion, Wisner-Pilger has a chance to knock off the Tigers.

I'm not saying the Gators are going to get the job done, but a win is definitely possible given how close I believe these two teams are.

The real difference between the two squads, in my opinion, is the ability to win games.

North Bend Central has found a way to get the job done night in and night out while Wisner-Pilger is only getting the job done part of the time.

It's really hard saying what you are going to get from the Gators Thursday night, but given the result of Tuesday night's game, I'm willing to bet Wisner-Pilger will play well.

It will be interesting to see how things go and transpire Thursday night. The game can be heard on 107.9 the Bull with tip-off set right after the girls game, which is scheduled to start at 6:15 p.m.

The Wisner-Pilger Girls lost 56-54 at Pender Thursday night before winning 59-35 at Clarkson/Leigh Tuesday night.

The Gators jumped out to a 14-5 lead after one. The Pendragons outscored Wisner-Pilger 20-15 in the second quarter to make it a 29-25 game at halftime.

The Gators won the third quarter 14-10 to go up 43-35 at the end of three.

Pender put up 21 fourth quarter points and held Wisner-Pilger to 11 to pull out the come from behind win.

The Gators and Patriots were tied at 15 at the conclusion of the first quarter. Wisner-Pilger tripled up Clarkson/Leigh 18-6 in the second quarter to lead 33-21 at halftime.

The Gators won the third quarter 13-8 to go up 46-29 at the end of three.

Wisner-Pilger put up 13 fourth quarter points compared to 6 for the Patriots.

The Gators let one get away against the Pendragons. Wisner-Pilger made sure to take care of business against Clarkson/Leigh.

The Gators (9-7) host North Bend Central (13-2) Thursday night.

The Tigers won 54-32 at home against Madison Tuesday night.

North Bend Central has been a very good, consistent team this season, and has won seven in a row.

The Tigers are tough so Wisner-Pilger is definitely going to need to be on top of their game.

The Gators must have the same kind of effort they had against the Patriots.

Wisner-Pilger is no doubt going to need to play a complete game to come away with the victory.

The Gators have played really well at times this year. Wisner-Pilger has a couple of quality wins, but I feel like a win over North Bend Central would be the Gators' best win of the season so far.

It should be a really good battle Thursday night. Both teams could use a win for momentum purposes heading into the East Husker Conference Tournament.

It will be interesting to see who prevails. I like Wisner-Pilger's chances a lot better since they are at home. If the Gators were on the road I would lean more towards the Tigers winning, but with the game being in Wisner I feel it's a toss up.

Listen to Thursday night's game on 107.9 the Bull. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:15 p.m.

It should be a good game.
