North Bend Central Boys and Girls down Oakland-Craig and Madison

The North Bend Central Boys are up to 15 wins on the season as the Tigers won 63-60 at Oakland-Craig Friday night and 64-51 at home against Madison Tuesday night.

The Tigers led the Knights 13-8 after one. North Bend Central won the second quarter 24-18 to take a 37-26 lead into the locker room.

The Tigers outscored Oakland-Craig 16-14 in the third quarter to lead 53-40 at the end of three.

The Knights doubled up North Bend Central 20-10 in the fourth quarter.

Head Coach Jonathan Baehr's team led much of the way but fell behind later in the game. "Yeah. We knew coming in here that Oakland-Craig would be a tough team. They got some guys that can really score the ball. And we did what we needed to do for pry three quarters, and they outplayed us for quite a while in the 4th, and we just had to find a way to get it done. A lot of credit to them for continuing to battle, and a lot of credit to our guys for staying strong and finding a way to get it done after getting down three."

The Tigers and Dragons were tied at 11 at the end of one. North Bend Central outscored Madison 21-17 in the second quarter to lead 32-28 at halftime.

The Tigers won the third quarter 11-8 to go up 43-36 at the end of three.

North Bend Central notched 21 fourth quarter points compared to 15 for the Dragons.

Jake Wieftfeld had a team-high 19 points while Matt Ortmeier totaled 14. Tanner Wietfeld recorded 13 while Jake Cleveringa notched 11.

The Tigers have played exceptional basketball the entire season. North Bend Central just keeps on winning.

The Tigers (15-1) square off with Wisner-Pilger (7-8) in Wisner Thursday night.

The Gators are coming off a 56-53 loss at Clarkson/Leigh Tuesday night.

Wisner-Pilger has been so up and down this season it's hard to know what you are going to get from them.

The Gators beat Pender by 40 and then turnaround and lose to the Patriots. Wisner-Pilger is a hard team to figure out.

North Bend Central can't be deceived by the Gators' loss to Clarkson/Leigh though. The Tigers must understand that they are going to get Wisner-Pilger's best shot, and need to be ready to play.

North Bend Central has to score the ball the way they did against Madison. Getting four players in double figures is a recipe for success, and the Tigers need to continue to get that kind of production out of their stars.

It should be an interesting game Thursday night. I think North Bend Central will win, but I think the game will be close.

The game being in Wisner really helps the Gators.

You can bet Wisner-Pilger will be fired up and ready to go given what happened Tuesday night. The Gators will no doubt give the Tigers all they can handle and then some.

Listen to Thursday night's game on 107.9 the Bull. It's set to start after the girls game, which is slated for a 6:15 p.m. start.

The North Bend Central Girls defeated Oakland-Craig 48-40 on the road Friday night and won 54-32 at home over Madison Tuesday night.

The Tigers led the Knights 13-12 after one. North Bend Central outscored the Knights 17-6 in the second quarter to go up 30-18 at halftime.

Both teams scored 10 third quarter points, and the score after three was 40-28 in favor of the Tigers.

Oakland-Craig won the fourth quarter 12-8.

The Tigers led the Dragons 14-9 after one. North Bend Central blanked Madison 21-0 in the second quarter to lead 35-9 at halftime.

The Tigers won the third quarter 15-8 to go up 50-17 at the end of three.

The Dragons outscored North Bend Central 15-4 in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers continue to play really good basketball. The Oakland-Craig win was a big one for North Bend Central.

The Tigers (13-2) take on Wisner-Pilger (9-7) on the road Thursday night.

The Gators beat Clarkson/Leigh 59-35 on the road Tuesday night.

Wisner-Pilger is a quality team, and has taken some teams by surprise this year, in my opinion.

The Gators have beaten or at least challenged quite a few good teams on their schedule.

I definitely feel that Wisner-Pilger is a better team than their record indicates.

The Gators should have North Bend Central's attention. The Tigers probably know by now that they can't take Wisner-Pilger lightly.

Every game is tough, and every team, including the Gators, are going to give North Bend Central their best shot.

The Tigers have to be mentally and physically tough to withstand the challenge Wisner-Pilger will no doubt provide them.

North Bend Central hasn't won seven games in a row for nothing though, and so I look for the Tigers to play the Gators very tough.

Listen to Thursday night's game on 107.9 the Bull. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:15 p.m.

It should be a fun filled, action packed night of high school basketball on the Bull.
