BRLD Boys beat Stanton and Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family; Girls lose to both

The BRLD Boys Basketball Team routed Stanton 70-33 at home on Saturday and rallied from a huge deficit against Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Monday night in action heard on 107.9 the Bull, winning 83-71 on the road in overtime.

The Wolverines jumped out to a 25-11 lead on the Mustangs at the end of one before blanking Stanton 12-0 in the 2nd quarter to take a 37-11 lead into the locker room.

The Mustangs won the 3rd quarter 16-13 to make it a 50-27 game at the end of three in favor of BRLD.

The Wolverines outscored Stanton 20-6 in the 4th quarter.

The Bulldogs got off to a hot start and would lead by as many as 18 points in the first half, before BRLD cut the score to 39-32 at the intermission.

The second half was back-and-forth with several ties and lead changes. The score ended up 71-71 at the end of regulation, forcing OT.

The Wolverines, who found their rhythm in the second half, outscored the Bulldogs 12-0 in the extra period to complete the comeback win.

Lucas Vogt scored 30 points for BRLD, with Darwin Snyder adding 25, including six three pointers. Jaxon Johnson added 15 while Will Gatzemeyer had 8.

Great and amazing performance against the Mustangs on Saturday and an even better comeback against the Bulldogs Monday night!!!!!!

The Wolverines (14-1) are off until Tuesday when they face either West Point-Beemer or Madison in the quarterfinals of the East Husker Conference Tournament.

The Cadets played BRLD tough at home earlier this year, and so the Wolverines have to be ready to go against whichever team they play.

BRLD has to take this extra time to rest and heal up and get ready for the huge stretch run that awaits them here at the end of the regular season.

The Wolverines figure to have a great chance to not only get to the Championship Game, but win it.

I think North Bend Central will be BRLD's biggest threat to winning the championship though.

I feel those two teams are the top two teams in the conference, and think things will play out the way they're supposed to for them to meet in the championship game.

This is a tough conference though, and the Wolverines will certainly need to earn their way to the championship should they get there and win it.

The Tigers are a very good and tough C-1 team and could be the one team that stands between BRLD and the EHC Crown.

Things are pretty tough and challenging the remainder of the season for the Wolverines from here on out so BRLD has to prepare themselves for an end of season run that they hope culminates in big things in Lincoln.

I feel the Wolverines have to be considered a big time contender to win State in C-2 this year.

BRLD is a great team.

I will say though the Wolverines have to get off to better starts than they did against the Bulldogs.

BRLD is known for rallying and can certainly comeback against anyone, but a slow start could prove to be costly at some point.

The Wolverines are a special team and a great program and dynasty in the making though, and should be very proud of what they've accomplished and what they figure to accomplish yet this season.

BRLD has to take this time to make themselves a better basketball team, and work on some things in practice that might be a struggle for them right now.

The Wolverines have to use this extra practice time to their advantage to just simply work on their game and get better.

The BRLD Girls lost 51-46 at home to Stanton on Saturday and 62-31 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family in action aired on 107.9 the Bull Monday night.

The Stanton game was tied at 11 at the end of one and both teams scored 13 points in the 2nd quarter to make it a 24 all game at halftime.

The Mustangs outscored the Wolverines 14-4 in the 3rd quarter to lead 38-28 at the end of three.

BRLD won the 4th quarter 18-13.

H/LHF got off to a hot start and took a 35-19 lead into halftime, before defeating the Wolverines.

Isabel Freemont had 15 points to lead BRLD.

Back-to-back losses against two great programs.

The Wolverines (11-6) go back to Humphrey Friday night to take on Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (5-12) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament.

The Raiders lost 55-31 at Howells-Dodge Thursday night.

BRLD could definitely use a bounce back win after losing two in a row and three out of their last four to great teams.

The Wolverines ought to come into this game with something to prove and a chip on their shoulder.

BRLD has to play great offensively and must also play suffocating defense.

I'm sure the Wolverines would love another shot at the Bulldogs, especially since the game would be in Oakland.

I'm sure BRLD knows they're a much better team than what they showed against Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family the first time around.

I feel that both the Wolverines and Bulldogs have something to prove, and that should make for a great game should the two meet up again.

BRLD has to play really well against the Raiders to set the tone for Monday.

The Wolverines have to create turnovers with their press and get out in transition and run and convert easy lay ups and knock down 3's.

BRLD has to have their entire arsenal on display against LVSS Friday night.

The Wolverines also need to get off to a strong start against the Raiders, and not find themselves in such an early hole like they did against the Bulldogs.

BRLD has to come out and dominate Friday night, and do their part in setting up a rematch with Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family.

I would think the Wolverines and Bulldogs would meet in Oakland Monday night, but you never know.

BRLD has to respect Logan View/Scribner-Snyder and what they bring to the table.

The Wolverines have to try and slow down Shaylin Daugherty and Ashley Peters, among others for the Raiders.

Friday's game is set to tip-off at 6:00 p.m.
