Pender Boys and Girls lose to Clarkson/Leigh
The Pender Boys Basketball Team lost 68-53 at home to Clarkson/Leigh on Saturday.
The Patriots led the Pendragons 15-11 after one, and won the 2nd quarter 20-17 to take a 35-28 lead into the locker room.
Clarkson/Leigh won the 3rd quarter 13-11 to go up 48-39 at the end of three.
The Patriots outscored Pender 20-14 in the 4th quarter.
Surprising and shocking loss for the Pendragons I must say. I can't say I saw this one coming.
Pender (4-8) takes on Wisner-Pilger (10-4) on the road Thursday night.
The Gators won 51-40 at Twin River Tuesday night.
The Pendragons are definitely capable of making this one close and interesting if they play up to their potential, in my opinion.
If Pender plays like they did against Omaha Nation then fans could be in for a real treat.
But if the Pendragons come out sluggish and struggle then it could be a long night.
Pender has to start playing well against everyone regardless of who the opponent is.
The Pendragons have a bunch of games coming up before the East Husker Conference Tournament so Pender has a bunch of chances to pick up wins and make hay.
The Pendragons need to step up their game perform up to their potential though.
Pender has to find a way to win some of these games coming up before the Conference Tournament.
The Pendragons' conditioning and endurance will definitely be tested this week and next so Pender has to be ready to go.
The Pendragons have to be ready to give everyone all and everything they've got.
Pender has to find a way to play well all the time if at all possible.
The Pendragons have to find a way to overcome their struggles and get rid of the tough performance contests.
Pender has to give everyone they play all they can handle and then some.
The Pendragons have to find a way to become a very lethal and dangerous team night in and night out.
I feel Pender is halfway there it's just a matter of gaining consistency and overcoming past struggles.
The Pendragons could take a lot of big steps in the right direction by at least playing well if not winning Thursday night.
Pender needs to turn in a strong and good performance regardless of if the game is a win or a loss.
The Pendragons take on Wynot on the road Friday night and Howells-Dodge at home on Saturday.
The Pender Girls lost 38-35 at home to Clarkson/Leigh on Saturday.
The Patriots led the Pendragons 12-9 at the end of the 1st quarter. Pender outscored Clarkson/Leigh 12-5 in the 2nd quarter to take a 21-17 lead into the locker room.
The Patriots outscored the Pendragons 8-3 in the 3rd quarter to go up 25-24 at the end of three.
Clarkson/Leigh won the 4th quarter 13-11.
Zoey Lehmkuhl led the way with 14 points.
Great effort and game from Pender. The Pendragons nearly pulled off the upset.
Pender (6-7) takes on Wisner-Pilger (5-10) on the road Thursday night.
The Gators lost 33-29 at Twin River Tuesday night.
This figures to be a very tight, close, and compelling ball game.
I could see things going either way in this one.
I feel Pender's offense might be able to score enough points to get Wisner-Pilger as both teams play outstanding defense.
The Gators have struggled to score this year, and I feel the Pendragons are the more polished team offensively.
I look for Lehmkuhl to step up and have a big game for Pender like she did against Clarkson/Leigh, and for players like Ashley Ostrand, Faith Morris, Sarah Krueger, and Michaela Wegner to step up also.
The Pendragons need to get their stars back on track playing good basketball.
Pender has too good of an offense to be held in check two games in a row.
Wisner-Pilger is for real defensively though so I think the Pendragon offense will get put to the test for sure.
Pender has to come out and be ready to give the Gators a great game.
The Pendragons have been off all week while Wisner-Pilger has played a lot lately so Pender has to use the rest and down time to their advantage in this one.
The Pendragons have to be ready to take the fight to the Gators for four quarters, and play their hearts out.
Pender also has to find a way to come through in the clutch when it matters most.
The Pendragons have a busy week this week and next with an opportunity for a bunch of wins so Pender has to turn the corner and get the job done.
The Pendragons travel to Wynot Friday night and then return home on Saturday to take on Howells-Dodge.
Pender has games next week against Madison, Emerson-Hubbard, and Winnebago plus the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament.
