North Bend Central Boys top Logan View/Scribner-Snyder and Arlington; Girls beat Raiders, lose to Eagles
The North Bend Central Boys Basketball Team is now 9-1 on the season thanks to wins over Logan View/Scribner-Snyder and Arlington.
The Tigers downed the Raiders 52-36 on the road Friday night in action heard on 107.9 the Bull before rolling Arlington 72-41 at home Tuesday night.
North Bend Central held an 11-10 lead on LVSS after one, and outscored the Raiders 17-7 in the 2nd quarter to take a 28-17 lead into the locker room.
The Tigers won the 3rd quarter 14-10 to go up 42-27 at the end of three.
North Bend Central won the 4th quarter 10-9.
The Tigers held a 20-13 lead on the Eagles after one, and outscored Arlington 17-10 in the 2nd quarter to take a 37-23 lead into the locker room.
North Bend Central won the 3rd quarter 18-10 to go up 55-33 at the end of three.
The Tigers outscored the Eagles 17-8 in the 4th quarter.
John Emanuel had 21 points while Tanner Wietfeld notched 14. Jaxon Wietfeld added 11 while Austin Endorf posted 7.
Big dominant wins for North Bend Central without a doubt.
The Tigers (9-1) host Wayne (7-5) Thursday night in action that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull.
The Blue Devils lost 75-54 at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Tuesday night.
Last year's game was really close and tight if I recall, but I don't look for that to be the case this year.
I feel North Bend Central will come out and dominate.
I could see Wayne hanging around and making it a game of things for a while, but I fully expect the Tigers to win in similar fashion to the way they beat Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.
The Blue Devils always have great shooters and a quality program though so North Bend Central has to be ready.
Wayne has been up and down, but when they are on they are tough.
The Tigers need to be on top of their game to win big, in my opinion.
This game is big for North Bend Central with games against Fremont Bergan and Columbus Scotus coming up on Saturday and Tuesday, respectively.
The Tigers also have Oakland-Craig and Wisner-Pilger before the East Husker Conference Tournament so North Bend Central has to be on top of their game.
This is a big stretch for the Tigers, and I think North Bend Central is ready for it and prepared to do well.
I look for the Tigers to head into the EHC Tournament with a lot of momentum and confidence.
The thing North Bend Central can't do is get caught looking ahead to Saturday's game against Bergan.
The Knights are obviously a very good team and the game will be tough, but the Tigers have to take care of business against the Blue Devils first.
Great teams respect all, and that's something I look for and expect North Bend Central to do as well.
I look for the Tigers to turn in a big time performance, and head into the Bergan game with lots of momentum and confidence.
North Bend Central has won 5 in a row, and I look for that number to increase to 6 after Thursday night.
The game will tip-off after the Girls Game, which is set to start at 6:00 p.m. on the Bull.
The North Bend Central Girls are 1-1 in their last two games, winning 51-27 at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder in action aired on 107.9 the Bull Friday night, and then losing 47-45 at home Arlington Tuesday night.
The Tigers went up on the Raiders 16-7 at the end of one and outscored Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 18-5 in the 2nd quarter to take a 34-12 lead into the locker room.
North Bend Central outscored the Raiders 14-6 in the 3rd quarter to go up 48-18 at the end of three.
LVSS tripled up the Tigers 9-3 in the 4th quarter.
The Eagles went up 16-11 on the Tigers at the end of one before North Bend Central won the 2nd quarter 15-10 to tie the game at 26 at halftime.
Arlington outscored North Bend Central 13-9 in the 3rd quarter to lead 39-35 at the end of three.
The Tigers won the 4th quarter 10-8.
Very strong performance from North Bend Central Friday night. I was kind of surprised at first when I heard Arlington beat the Tigers, but after I saw the Eagles beat Bergan and are now 8-5 I wasn't as surprised.
North Bend Central (7-5) hosts Wayne (5-7) Thursday night in action that can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.
The Blue Devils won 60-58 at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Tuesday night.
This should be a close, competitive ball game that can go either way.
Wayne beat Pierce and also beat LVSS by 29 so they appear to be a team with a lot of potential.
The thing with the Blue Devils though is they lack consistency, and so if the Tigers get Wayne on an off night then I think they have a great chance to win.
If the Blue Devils are on they're going to be tough.
North Bend Central has a tough stretch coming up with Bergan on Saturday, Columbus Scotus on Tuesday, and Oakland-Craig next Friday.
This one against Wayne is big and important for the Tigers, especially considering North Bend Central lost to Arlington.
I would say this is a must win for the Tigers given who is on the horizon for them.
North Bend Central has to start the game strong and finish it strong as well.
If the Tigers can separate themselves from the Blue Devils in the 1st and 4th quarters I don't know if it will matter what happens in the middle quarters.
North Bend Central just has to find a way to win that's all there is to it.
The Tigers have to refuse to lose, and must go out there and put their best effort forward.
North Bend Central has to execute their offense and play strong defense the way they have all season.
The Tigers have to find ways to manufacture points and ride their defense to a win.
I feel Arlington is slightly better offensively than Wayne so that could favor North Bend Central in this one.
I bet the Tigers find a way to win although it doesn't figure to come easy by any stretch of the imagination.
The game is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. on the Bull.
