Wisner-Pilger Boys 2-1, Girls 1-2 in last three games
The Wisner-Pilger Boys Basketball Team lost 55-46 at Howells-Dodge Friday night before winning 52-34 at home against Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Saturday night, and 51-40 at Twin River Tuesday night.
The Gators led the Jaguars 12-9 at the end of one. Howells-Dodge won the 2nd quarter 15-14 to make it a 26-24 game at halftime in favor of Wisner-Pilger.
The Jaguars won the 3rd quarter 14-9 to go up 38-35 at the end of three.
Howells-Dodge outscored the Gators 17-11 in the 4th quarter.
The game with the Raiders was tied at 9 at the end of one before Wisner-Pilger outscored LVSS 13-3 in the 2nd quarter to take a 22-12 lead into the locker room.
The Gators won the 3rd quarter 16-13 to go up 38-25 at the end of three.
Wisner-Pilger outscored LVSS 14-9 in the 4th quarter.
Nice wins for the Gators on Saturday and Tuesday following Friday night's loss.
Wisner-Pilger (10-4) hosts Pender (4-8) Thursday night.
The Pendragons lost 68-53 at home to Clarkson/Leigh on Saturday.
Pender has been really up and down this year. When they're on they're on....when they're off they're off.
It's hard to know which Pendragon team will come to play Thursday night, but I think the Gators will be challenged and tested.
Pender always seems to rise up and play the good teams tough, and Wisner-Pilger falls under that category.
The Gators have to do a good job on Midland signee Sam Mailoux.
Mailoux has been a monster on the boards and in the scoring column this year for the Pendragons.
Wisner-Pilger has to play like they did on Saturday, and if they do that they should be just fine.
I feel both the Gators and Pender have been inconsistent at times this year, but feel Wisner-Pilger has been better overall.
Both teams are veteran laden and experienced so that should make for a heck of a game from that standpoint.
If the Pendragons play the way they did against Omaha Nation on Thursday then we could be in for a real treat.
The Gators have to come out and play well and really want it.
Wisner-Pilger is fighting and jockeying for East Husker Conference Tournament positioning, and this game is a big one for that.
The Gators have Clarkson/Leigh on Tuesday and then a showdown with North Bend Central next Thursday so Wisner-Pilger has to finish the pre-conference tournament portion of their schedule out strong.
The Gators have to keep playing the way they have lately, and pick up a big win Thursday night.
Wisner-Pilger has to come out and smack Pender in the mouth early, build a lead, and force the Pendragons to play from behind.
The Wisner-Pilger Girls are 1-2 in their last three games, falling 50-35 at Howells-Dodge Friday night before beating Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 47-36 at home on Saturday. The Gators then turned around and lost 33-29 at Twin River Tuesday night.
The Jaguars and Gators were tied at 10 at the end of one. Wisner-Pilger won the 2nd quarter 11-9 to take a 21-19 lead into the locker room.
Howells-Dodge won the 3rd quarter 16-10 to go up 35-31 at the end of three.
The Jaguars outscored the Gators 15-4 in the 4th quarter.
The Gators went up 11-9 after one on the Raiders, and outscored LVSS 10-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 21-15 lead into the locker room.
Wisner-Pilger outscored the Raiders 19-10 in the 3rd quarter to go up 40-25 at the end of three.
LVSS won the 4th quarter 11-7.
I think the Gators have to be encouraged by the way they played in the first half Friday night, and then on both Saturday and Tuesday.
Wisner-Pilger (5-10) plays host to Pender (6-7) at home Thursday night.
The Pendragons lost 38-35 at home to Clarkson/Leigh on Saturday.
This figures to be a close, compelling, and entertaining game that could go either way.
I really think the Gators could win based on the fact they're the bigger school and at home.
It's a toss up game if you ask me...I could see this one going either way.
I look for the game to be low scoring and defensive.
Every point and every basket will count in this one without a doubt.
Points could come at a premium in this game so making layups and free throws figures to be very critical and important for both teams.
I think Wisner-Pilger has to be encouraged by how they played on Tuesday, and has to look to build off that momentum.
The Pendragons have been off all week so I could definitely see the Gators come out more sharp based on that.
I could see it working the other way too though in that Wisner-Pilger is more sluggish and has tired legs based on the fact they played Friday, Saturday, and Tuesday.
Whoever wins this game will have really gutted things out too.
It's going to take a great effort from whoever wins.
It's also one of those games where you don't like to see someone lose based on how even these teams are.
The Gators have Clarkson/Leigh and North Bend Central next week so Wisner-Pilger really needs a win Thursday night, especially for East Husker Conference Tournament seeding.
This is the Gators' only game of the week so they need to come out and play well and turn in a big time performance.
A win would feel much better than a loss heading into next week's games without a doubt so Wisner-Pilger has to step things up.
