Clarkson/Leigh Boys beat Friend at Shelby-Rising City Holiday Tournament; Girls defeat Arcadia/Loup City at Tournament, knock off East Butler
The Clarkson/Leigh Boys downed Friend 47-15 at the Shelby-Rising City Holiday Tournament on Saturday.
The Patriots led the Bulldogs 15-6 at the end of one before outscoring Friend 15-3 in the 2nd quarter to take a 30-9 lead into the locker room.
Clarkson/Leigh doubled up the Bulldogs 2-1 in the 3rd quarter to lead 32-10 at the end of three.
The Patriots tripled up Friend 15-5 in the 4th quarter.
Daniel Beller had 14 points and 8 rebounds while Tommy McEvoy notched 7 points.
Really nice win for Clarkson/Leigh.
The Patriots (3-5) take on Tekamah-Herman (0-12) on the road Saturday.
The Tigers lost 71-15 at home to BRLD Friday night.
I think Clarkson/Leigh should be able to win this one.
I feel the Patriots have really improved this year and are coming along nicely.
Clarkson/Leigh should be refreshed and ready to go and be up for this one.
The Patriots have had a lot of time to practice, and I fully expect a great performance from Clarkson/Leigh.
The Patriots have to start off strong and get out to a big lead.
Tekamah-Herman isn't exactly equipped to come from behind in games, and if Clarkson/Leigh can jump out to a big lead they should be golden.
This is one of those games that would be a feel good win for the Patriots without a doubt.
It would be a big deal for Clarkson/Leigh to be 4-5.
The Patriots have to feel good about where they're at and the progress they are making.
This team has really improved over the course of this season and from last year, in my opinion.
Clarkson/Leigh has to continue to ride this wave of positive momentum.
The Patriots appear to be a different team ever since the loss to Howells-Dodge.
Clarkson/Leigh was in that game for a half, and appears to have figured some things out following that loss.
I look for the Patriots to continue to build off that on Saturday, and pick up a big win.
Beller and McEvoy need to have big games and lead the team.
Clarkson/Leigh also needs to play good defense like they did against Friend.
I think the Patriots have a good chance to do that too given the Tigers' struggles on offense.
All in all it should be another successful day of basketball for Clarkson/Leigh.
The Clarkson/Leigh Girls defeated Arcadia/Loup City 37-28 at the Shelby-Rising City Holiday Tournament on Saturday before winning 46-24 at home over East Butler Friday night.
The Patriots led the Rebels 8-7 after one. Both teams scored 5 points in the 2nd quarter, and the score was 13-12 at halftime in favor of Clarkson/Leigh.
The Patriots won the 3rd quarter 9-5 to extend their lead to 22-17 at the end of three.
Clarkson/Leigh outscored Arcadia/Loup City 15-11 in the 4th quarter.
Kaegan Held had 15 points while Cassidy Hoffman totaled 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Patriots did their damage early against the Tigers, getting out to an 18-4 lead at the end of one. East Butler doubled up Clarkson/Leigh 8-4 in the 2nd quarter to make it a 22-12 game at halftime in favor of Clarkson/Leigh.
The Patriots outscored the Tigers 16-7 in the 3rd quarter to go up 38-19 at the end of three.
Clarkson/Leigh won the 4th quarter 8-5.
Hannah Kasik had 14 points while Held notched 12.
Good wins for the Patriots.
Clarkson/Leigh (8-2) takes on Tekamah-Herman (3-9) on the road Saturday.
The Tigers lost 62-18 at home to BRLD Friday night.
Tekamah-Herman really struggles to score so the Patriots have to suffocate the Tigers' offense and make them earn their points.
Clarkson/Leigh isn't the most dynamic offensive team themselves, but the Patriots are improving and getting better in that area all the time.
The starts to each half against the Tigers Friday night is what really impressed me with Clarkson/Leigh.
The Patriots were ready to play and took care of business.
Clarkson/Leigh has to do the same thing on Saturday, and make life difficult and challenging for Tekamah-Herman.
The Patriots have a really tough game next Friday against Humphrey St. Francis, but all other games surrounding those look like they could very well be wins.
Clarkson/Leigh has to stay hot and keep winning.
I look for the Patriots to keep rattling off big wins and doing great things.
Things are set up for Clarkson/Leigh to make a run, and the Patriots have to do just that.
Clarkson/Leigh is winning the close games for the most part and has lost to two very good teams.
With Stanton up and down this year who knows what Sub-Districts will bring.
That's still a ways off yet though as there are other games as well as the Conference Tournament to worry about first.
Still though I'm sure the Patriots can't help but think big picture.
Clarkson/Leigh has to keep dreaming big and doing great things.
The Patriots can definitely make their dreams come true and make state they just have to keep playing the game and winning.
Saturday is another chance to pick up a win and do great things.
