BRLD Boys top West Point-Beemer in East Husker Conference Tournament; Girls down Logan View/Scribner-Snyder, fall to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family

The BRLD Boys Basketball Team defeated West Point-Beemer 58-38 at home Tuesday night in the East Husker Conference Tournament Quarterfinals.

The Wolverines climbed out to a 13-9 lead after one before outscoring the Cadets 19-11 in the 2nd quarter to take a 32-20 lead into the locker room.

BRLD outscored West Point-Beemer 17-10 in the 3rd quarter to go up 49-30 at the end of three.

The Wolverines won the 4th quarter 9-8.

Good strong win for BRLD.

The Wolverines (15-1) take on Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family (15-3) in the Semifinals at North Bend Central Friday night in action that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Bulldogs won 44-33 over Logan View/Scribner-Snyder in Bancroft in the Quarterfinals Tuesday night.

These two teams played an instant classic last Monday in which the Wolverines came back from 21 down at one point to win the game in overtime, 83-71.

That game was in Humphrey so it will be interesting to see how the two teams fare in a neutral court game.

I think BRLD will find a way to win a close game in this one.

I'm thinking it's going to be the Wolverines against North Bend Central in the Championship on Saturday, but anything can certainly happen.

BRLD has to be on top of their game and can't afford to fall behind like they did the first time around.

If the Wolverines get behind by 21 again I'm not so sure they can win a second time.

BRLD has to play the way they did after getting down 21 the whole time Friday night.

If that's the case I think the Wolverines could run away with things, but I suspect things will be close and tight.

BRLD has to play a complete game like they did against the Cadets.

The Wolverines have to get it done on both ends of the court with their press, defense, and offense.

BRLD has to have their full arsenal of tricks on display in this one.

The Wolverines have to come out and play championship basketball from start to finish, and light things up from the outside and inside against the Bulldogs.

BRLD has to play with lots of drive, toughness, grit, heart, pride, passion, fire, emotion, and determination.

The Wolverines have to get excited when they make big plays and the crowd has to be electric.

Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. on the Bull.

The BRLD Girls routed Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 61-35 in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Friday night before falling 62-46 to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family in Monday night's Quarterfinals at Oakland-Craig.

The Bulldogs got out to a 20-9 lead at the end of one. The Wolverines won the 2nd quarter 10-8 to make it a 28-19 game at halftime in favor of Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family.

The Bulldogs won the 3rd quarter 16-14 to extend their lead to 44-33 at the end of three.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family won the 4th quarter 18-13.

I think it's safe to say the Bulldogs are the real deal, and showed why.

BRLD (12-7) takes on Stanton (13-6) in a Tournament Consolation Game in Lyons Thursday night.

The Mustangs lost 34-27 to Clarkson/Leigh in the Quarterfinals at West Point-Beemer Monday night.

Stanton defeated the Wolverines 51-46 on the road last Saturday.

I think BRLD might get the Mustangs this time around though.

I know the Wolverines are just 2-4 in their last six games, but I'm not sure how motivated Stanton is going to be playing in a consolation round.

The first game was played at a time when the Mustangs were playing real well and had a lot to play for.

It was a close game, and beating the same team twice is certainly not easy.

BRLD is a young team and will be energized and motivated I feel whereas Stanton being a senior and veteran laden team still might be disappointed about losing to Clarkson/Leigh.

This game is going to be about who responds mentally more than anything, in my opinion.

The Wolverines have to get after things on both ends of the floor, and must get out and run and create turnovers with their press to get easy layups in transition.

BRLD has to be relentless with their attack, and must be very aggressive shooting and passing the ball.

The Wolverines have to take chances, and can't be afraid to make mistakes.

BRLD has to play the passing lane, and box out and rebound well also.

Contesting shots, making free throws, and converting layups are all important, in my opinion.

The Wolverines have to do the little things well and play well in all facets of the game to pick up a win in this one I would say.

BRLD can definitely do it too they just have to want it more than Stanton.

The Wolverines have to defend one of their home courts, and pick up a big win to gain some momentum heading into the final two regular season games next week.

The game will tip-off after the North Bend Central and Twin River game at 6:00 p.m.
