GACC Boys 1-2 in last three games; Girls 2-1

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Boys Basketball Team is 1-2 in their last three games, falling 44-27 at David City Aquinas on Friday, December 21st before losing 72-40 to BRLD at the Howells-Dodge Holiday Tournament last Friday, and then beating Homer 81-54 in the 3rd place game of the Tournament last Saturday.

The Monarchs went up 12-8 on the Bluejays at the end of one, and won the 2nd quarter 10-9 to take a 22-17 lead into the locker room.

Aquinas outscored GACC 13-6 in the 3rd quarter to go up 35-23 at the end of three.

The Monarchs won the 4th quarter 9-4.

Jared Minnick had 13 points while Casey Doernemann notched 7.

The Wolverines went up 16-7 on the Bluejays at the end of one, and outscored GACC 21-9 in the 2nd quarter to go up 37-16 at halftime.

BRLD won the 3rd quarter 15-12 to increase their lead to 52-28 at the end of three.

The Wolverines outscored the Bluejays 20-12 in the 4th quarter.

Ben Ulrich led the way with 13 points.

GACC doubled up Homer 18-9 in the 1st quarter, and outscored the Knights 21-10 in the 2nd quarter to take a 39-19 lead into the locker room.

GACC won the 3rd quarter 22-20 to go up 61-39 at the end of three.

The Bluejays won the 4th quarter 20-15.

Minnick had 16 points while Doernemann and Ulrich recorded 15 apiece. Cody Steffen added 9 points while Adam Reeson registered 8 points and 7 rebounds.

Nice win for GACC against Homer.

The Bluejays (2-8) take on Wayne (7-4) on the road Friday night.

The Blue Devils beat Boone Central/Newman Grove 61-51 at home on Saturday.

I think GACC can potentially pull the upset or at least make this one close.

Wayne has been up and down and seems to struggle with teams with records below .500.

This is the type of game that could really give the Bluejays a big momentum boost if they can win it.

GACC will have been off for just about two weeks too so I don't know if that's an advantage or disadvantage for the Bluejays.

I think it's an advantage from the standpoint of GACC should be fresh and ready to go, but a disadvantage from the standpoint of the Bluejays could come out flat and rusty at least to start off with.

I'm sure GACC will be chomping at the bit to get back out there and play though.

Sitting around and waiting for a game and practicing is tough, but the Bluejays have to prepare themselves for this one mentally.

GACC has to work on a lot of shooting drills in practice and continue to build on last Saturday's performance.

That's the type of effort the Bluejays need each and every time out.

GACC could benefit from more consistency defensively, but if the Bluejays can put up 81 points in a game they should win most of the time.

Wayne has a good offense, but the defense is prone to giving up points so I feel like there will be some offensive opportunities for GACC.

The Bluejays have to go into Wayne confident and must expect to win.

It's a new year technically with the start of the second half of the season, and GACC has to hit the reset button and pretend like this is the start of a brand new season with a victory last time out attached to it.

The Bluejays are capable of getting things turned around and beating the Blue Devils on Friday, all it takes is one game to change the outlook of one's season.

GACC is at Boone Central/Newman Grove on Saturday.

The GACC Girls are 2-1 in their last three games, losing 61-41 at David City Aquinas on Friday, December 21st before winning 58-43 over Howells-Dodge at the Howells-Dodge Holiday Tournament last Friday, and 83-78 over BRLD in the Holiday Tournament Championship Game last Saturday.

The Monarchs jumped on the Bluejays 24-7 at the end of one, and tripled up GACC 18-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 42-13 lead into the locker room.

The Bluejays outscored Aquinas 16-10 in the 3rd quarter to make it a 52-29 game at the end of three in favor of the Monarchs.

GACC won the 4th quarter 12-9.

Angela Jansen had 12 points and 7 rebounds while Marissa Hunke posted 9 points. Sophia Hass and Brenna Rief each had 7.

The Jaguars led the Bluejays 13-12 after one before winning the 2nd quarter 12-11 to take a 25-23 lead into the locker room.

GACC outscored Howells-Dodge 24-10 in the 3rd quarter to go up 47-35 at the end of three.

The Bluejays won the 4th quarter 11-8.

Hanna Knobbe paced the Bluejays with 15 points while Jansen and Greta Vering tallied 9 and 7, respectively.

The Bluejays got out to a 27-21 lead on BRLD at the end of one. Both teams scored 21 2nd quarter points, and the score was 48-42 at halftime in favor of GACC.

The Bluejays won the 3rd quarter 22-19 to go up 70-61 at the end of three.

The Wolverines outscored GACC 17-13 in the 4th quarter.

Hunke had 18 points while Maddie Bracht registered 14 points and 8 rebounds. Jansen chipped in 13 points while Hass and Snodgrass compiled 8 apiece. Vering contributed 7.

Great job by the Bluejays in winning the Howells-Dodge Holiday Tournament.

GACC (10-2) hosts Bishop Neumann (9-2) Tuesday night.

The Cavaliers won 51-23 at home over Columbus Scotus on Saturday, and beat Aquinas 45-38.

The Bluejays have their work cut out for them no doubt, but an upset can definitely take place as anything can happen.

GACC has to play a very strong game on both ends of the floor.

The Bluejays have to continue to hit shots like they have been, and must keep defending well.

GACC has found ways to win this season, and that has to continue Tuesday night.

This is a big time opponent coming in, and a big time opportunity for the Bluejays.

GACC has to step up to the challenge and play well.

The Bluejays need to play their best game of the season in order to win this one I would say.

GACC has played extremely well this season, and that has to continue if the Bluejays want to keep winning.

GACC has a golden opportunity in front of them, and must take advantage of it.

Games and opportunities like these don't come every day, and the Bluejays have to make the most of it.

GACC has to take the bull by the horns and play a fantastic, great, and marvelous game against Neumann.

The Bluejays have to step up to the plate and deliver.

GACC has stepped up and delivered time and time again this year, and has to find a way to do that again Tuesday night.

This game is big for power points for the Bluejays.

With a tough Sub-District every game counts, and a win over the Cavaliers would really give GACC's power points a huge boost.

This a key stretch in the season for the Bluejays with their next four games coming up so GACC has to be ready to put their best foot forward and play well.

There are no moral victories at GACC so anything less than a win against Neumann would not be satisfying I wouldn't think.
