Tekamah-Herman Boys and Girls lose to Madison, West Point-Beemer and Oakland-Craig

The Tekamah-Herman Boys Basketball Team lost 72-43 at Madison Friday night, 63-34 at home to West Point-Beemer on Saturday in action heard on 107.9 the Bull, and 72-34 at home against Oakland-Craig Tuesday night.

The Dragons led the Tigers 22-13 at the end of one, and outscored them 17-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 39-19 lead into the locker room.

Madison won the 3rd quarter 18-13 to go up 57-32 at the end of three.

The Dragons won the 4th quarter 15-11.

The Cadets jumped out to a 20-8 lead on Tekamah-Herman at the end of one. West Point-Beemer outscored the Tigers 15-7 in the 2nd quarter to go up 35-15 at halftime.

The Cadets outscored Tekamah-Herman 17-8 in the 3rd quarter to lead 52-23 at the end of three.

Both teams scored 11 points in the 4th quarter.

Clay Beaumont had 13 points while Cole Freidel added 7.

The Knights led the Tigers 18-1 at the end of the 1st quarter. Oakland-Craig outscored Tekamah-Herman 27-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 45-7 lead into the locker room.

The Knights outscored the Tigers 15-7 in the 3rd quarter to lead 60-14 at the end of three.

Tekamah-Herman outscored Oakland-Craig 20-12 in the 4th quarter.

Tough stretch of games for the Tigers following the win over Clarkson/Leigh.

Tekamah-Herman (1-14) takes on Fort Calhoun (8-7) on the road Thursday night.

The Pioneers won 58-44 at Omaha Brownell Talbot Tuesday night.

The Tigers definitely have their work cut out for them in this one to say the least.

Tekamah-Herman has to get back to playing the way they did against the Patriots.

I thought the Tigers might compete better in their last three games following the win, but the Dragons, Cadets, and Knights all proved to be very tough foes.

These last two games before the Conference Tournament are tough for Tekamah-Herman with Howells-Dodge on the road Friday night.

The Tigers have to find a way to pick up their play and continue to make strides.

Snapping a 64-game losing streak is a big accomplishment, but now Tekamah-Herman needs to build on the win and try and pick up more wins.

Picking things up on both ends of the floor could go a long ways for this team I feel.

The Tigers have to be better on offense and defense against some of these tough teams.

Tekamah-Herman has to attack the basket and shoot and knock down open jumpers.

The Tigers have to be confident on offense, and on defense need to limit second chance point opportunities.

Boxing out and rebounding well is going to be important for Tekamah-Herman.

The Tigers and Pioneers know each other real well, and both teams should just go at one another and get after it.

Tekamah-Herman can definitely make things close and interesting in this one I feel.

And anything can happen in the game of basketball too so a win is certainly not out of the question.

The Tigers have to play fearless and with nothing to lose.

Everyone except for maybe the kids and coaches in the locker room probably don't expect a Tekamah-Herman win, but as long as the team believes that's all that matters.

So the Tigers have to go out there and prove everyone wrong.

The Tekamah-Herman Girls were upset 61-59 in overtime at Madison Friday night before falling 64-33 at home to West Point-Beemer on Saturday in action heard on 107.9 the Bull, and 62-38 at home to Oakland-Craig Tuesday night.

The Cadets quadrupled up the Tigers 12-3 in the 1st quarter, and outscored them 27-5 in the 2nd quarter to take a 39-8 lead into the locker room.

Tekamah-Herman won the 3rd quarter 15-14 to make it a 53-23 game at the end of three.

West Point-Beemer won the 4th quarter 11-10.

Anna Wakehouse and Halle Olson totaled 10 points each while Maggie Sheets notched 8.

Head Coach David Eriksen's girls came out flat the first half.  "We are such a young team that it's easy to get behind and we could easily give up. But they sure don't. And I think that's evident in our second half performance."

The Knights led the Tigers 14-12 after one. Oakland-Craig outscored Tekamah-Herman 16-5 in the 2nd quarter to take a 30-17 lead into the locker room.

The Knights outscored the Tigers 21-13 in the 3rd quarter to go up 51-30 at the end of three.

Oakland-Craig won the 4th quarter 11-8.

Good job of competing by Tekamah-Herman in the second half of Saturday's loss and during the whole game on Tuesday.

The Tigers (3-13) take on Fort Calhoun (1-13) on the road Thursday night.

The Pioneers lost 59-48 at Omaha Brownell Talbot Tuesday night.

This figures to be a really close and entertaining ball game.

If Tekamah-Herman plays like they did in the second half on Saturday and during the whole game on Tuesday then I think the Tigers stand a good chance to win.

But if Tekamah-Herman plays like they did against Madison then it could very well be another disappointing loss.

The Tigers can definitely pick up some wins prior to the start of the East Husker Conference Tournament.

Tekamah-Herman is at Howells-Dodge on Friday and at home against Omaha Mercy on Tuesday.

I look for the Tigers to build upon the things they did well on Saturday and Tuesday, and put together three good performances this week and next.

I think Tekamah-Herman can beat Fort Calhoun and Omaha Mercy for sure, and maybe even the Jaguars, although that figures to be very difficult.

The Tigers just have to go out there and give a great effort from start to finish, and let the scoreboard take care of itself.

Tekamah-Herman has to control the things they can control, which is their heart, hustle, and effort.

The Tigers have to play with the heart of a champion, and give the Pioneers everything they've got and then some.

Tekamah-Herman has to battle hard on the boards and contest perimeter jump shots.

The Tigers also have to handle the ball and work the ball around for good open shots.

Tekamah-Herman has to be patient offensively and allow the game to come to them, yet go out there and make plays.

The Tigers have to give it all they got, and let the chips fall where they may.

Tekamah-Herman has to play hard and smart for four quarters, and do everything in their power to pick up the win.
