Tekamah-Herman Boys go 0-2 at Nebraska Wesleyan Holiday Tournament; Girls finish 1-2

The Tekamah-Herman Boys Basketball Team went 0-2 at the Nebraska Wesleyan Holiday Tournament last week, falling 62-46 to Parkview Christian last Thursday, and 69-15 to Southern on Friday.

The Tigers and Patriots were tied at 11 at the end of one before winning the 2nd quarter 16-13 to take a 27-24 lead into the locker room.

Parkview Christian outscored Tekamah-Herman 21-10 in the 3rd quarter to go in front 45-37 at the end of three.

The Patriots outscored the Tigers 17-9 in the 4th quarter.

The Raiders led Tekamah-Herman 21-3 at the end of one. Southern outscored the Tigers 19-3 in the 2nd quarter to take a 40-6 lead into the locker room.

The Raiders outscored Tekamah-Herman 16-7 in the 3rd quarter to go up 56-13 at the end of three.

Southern outscored the Tigers 13-2 in the 4th quarter.

Great effort from Tekamah-Herman last Thursday, but I'm not sure what happened on Friday.

The Tigers (0-11) host BRLD (7-1) Friday night.

The Wolverines won the Howells-Dodge Holiday Tournament 56-34 over Howells-Dodge in the championship game on Monday.

This is a very difficult matchup for Tekamah-Herman.

The Tigers just have to give things their best shot and compete the best they can.

The loss to the Raiders on Friday was not what Tekamah-Herman wanted, and is a tough way to head into the BRLD game.

The Tigers have to forget about it as much as they can though and rally around each other.

Tekamah-Herman has a chance at a win on Saturday against Clarkson/Leigh, and playing well on Friday could lead to good things on Saturday.

The Tigers have had time to get back into the gym and practice after some time away from the court so they should be ready to go.

The schedule lightens up the rest of the way for Tekamah-Herman after this so the Tigers just have to get through this game with the Wolverines and get it out of the way so to speak.

Howells-Dodge upset the Wolverines though so certainly anything can happen.

Tekamah-Herman has to remain positive and must keep fighting hard no matter what.

The Tigers had a very tough go of things on Friday, and need to find a way to right the ship.

I'm not sure what happened against Southern, but things looked promising for a half against Parkview Christian.

Tekamah-Herman has to get back to playing the kind of basketball they played in the 1st half against the Patriots.

The Tigers have to give BRLD their best shot, and not back down from the Wolverines.

Tekamah-Herman has to use Friday's game as motivation to do better this time around.

The Tigers have to focus on improving in all areas and facets of the game, and must continue to gain experience that will benefit them down the line.

The Tekamah-Herman Girls opened up the Nebraska Wesleyan Holiday Tournament last Thursday with a 37-25 win over Parkview Christian before falling 74-17 to Humphrey St. Francis in the Semifinals on Friday, and Auburn 54-21 in the 3rd place game on Saturday.

The Patriots led 7-6 after one before the Tigers outscored them 10-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 16-9 lead into the locker room.

Both teams scored 9 points in the 3rd quarter, and the score at the end of three was 25-18 in favor of Tekamah-Herman.

The Tigers outscored Parkview Christian 12-7 in the 4th quarter.

The Flyers led the Tigers 26-3 at the end of the first quarter before outscoring Tekamah-Herman 18-4 in the 2nd quarter to take a 44-7 lead into the locker room.

Humphrey St. Francis won the 3rd quarter 13-7 to extend their lead to 57-14 at the end of three.

The Flyers outscored the Tigers 17-3 in the 4th quarter.

The Bulldogs went up 15-9 after one before outscoring Tekamah-Herman 11-1 in the 2nd quarter to take a 26-10 lead into the locker room.

Auburn tripled up the Tigers 12-4 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 38-14 at the end of three.

The Bulldogs won the 4th quarter 16-7.

Good start to the tournament for Tekamah-Herman, but Humphrey St. Francis and Auburn are much different teams than Parkview Christian.

The Tigers (3-8) take on BRLD (7-3) at home Friday night.

The Wolverines lost to GACC in the Howells-Dodge Holiday Tournament Championship Game on Saturday.

BRLD is a very good team who can score the ball with the best of them.

Tekamah-Herman needs to turn in a big performance defensively, and find enough offense to win.

The Tigers have really struggled on offense all season long, and that needs to change if Tekamah-Herman wants to get over the hump.

The Tigers have been good defensively in their wins so if Tekamah-Herman can play well on that end of the floor Friday night it could lead to a win.

The Tigers have their work cut out for them though.

The Wolverines have proven to be a very good and dangerous team.

Tekamah-Herman can definitely put up points on BRLD though as the Wolverines struggle to stop people sometimes.

I just don't know if the Tigers will have enough defensively to slow down a potent BRLD attack.

They very well could, but I fully expect the Wolverines to be on top of their game.

It's a difficult weekend for Tekamah-Herman so the Tigers have to step up and rise to the challenge.

Tekamah-Herman has Clarkson/Leigh on Saturday, another very good team and difficult opponent.

The Tigers have to simply step up their game and play above and beyond themselves.

If there's ever a time for Tekamah-Herman to overachieve now is it.

The Tigers have to take the fight to the Wolverines and Patriots for four quarters, and find a spark and ignite themselves.

Tekamah-Herman has to be hungry and motivated given what happened in their final two games of the Holiday Tournament.

The Tigers have to step up to the plate and deliver a pair of good, strong performances this weekend.
