Emerson-Hubbard Boys and Girls 0-3 in last three games

The Emerson-Hubbard Boys Basketball Team lost 67-53 at Siouxland Community Christian, IA Friday night before falling 65-40 at home to Hartington-Newcastle on Monday, and 82-53 at home to Winnebago Tuesday night.

The Wildcats outscored the Pirates 19-10 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 49-27 at the end of three.

Hartington-Newcastle won the 4th quarter 16-13.

Belt led the way with 16 points while Kneifl added a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Spencer Burcham chipped in 8 points.

Winnebago outscored the Pirates 20-13 in the 3rd quarter to go up 64-38 at the end of three.

The Indians won the 4th quarter 18-15.

Kneifl registered 19 points while Belt had 10. Garrett Blanke totaled 9.

Tough sledding for Emerson-Hubbard so far this week and last week to say the least.

The Pirates (2-9) take on Osmond (11-0) on the road Friday night.

The Tigers won 66-63 at home over Neligh-Oakdale Tuesday night.

Emerson-Hubbard definitely has their hands full in this one.

Things don't really let up or get easier for the Pirates, but I'm sure that's how Emerson-Hubbard would rather have it.

Belt and Kneifl need to keep scoring consistently and players like Burcham and Blanke could really benefit from scoring consistently I would say.

The Pirates just have to find the winning formula offensively and defensively.

I feel like Emerson-Hubbard has done some really nice things offensively at times this year, but in those games the Pirates have scored over 50 points their defense has let them down.

It's a difficult weekend this weekend with Wynot coming up on Saturday too, but to be the best you have to beat the best.

These are the type of teams Emerson-Hubbard is going to need to beat if they want to get back to the top.

The Pirates are definitely doing better than last year and have proven to be a better team this year than what they were a season ago.

It takes time for a program to rise and get back to the glory days, and I don't think Emerson-Hubbard is any exception.

So the Pirates just have to keep building for the rest of this season because games against teams like Pender, who is in Emerson-Hubbard's Sub-District, are on the horizon.

There's a lot of basketball left and a lot of time remaining in this season, and the Pirates are nowhere near done.

Emerson-Hubbard just has to find a way to turn things around and play at a higher level than they already are.

The Pirates have done some nice things this year, but there's always room for improvement.

Osmond and Wynot are tough teams, there's no doubt about it, but Emerson-Hubbard can't be scared of or back down from either team.

The Emerson-Hubbard Girls are also 0-3 in their last three games, falling 51-34 at Siouxland Community Christian, IA Friday night, 62-32 at home to Hartington-Newcastle Monday night, and 63-22 at home to Winnebago Tuesday night.

The Pirates led Siouxland Community Christian 9-8 at the end of one. Siouxland Christian won the 2nd quarter 11-8 to go up 19-17 at halftime.

The Eagles outscored Emerson-Hubbard 18-8 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 37-25 at the end of three.

Siouxland Christian won the 4th quarter 14-9.

Addison Mackling totaled 15 points while Melanie Gentrup registered 13. Taylor Daum chipped in 9 rebounds.

The Wildcats went up 22-7 on the Pirates at the end of one. Both teams scored 9 points in the 2nd quarter, and the score was 31-16 at halftime in favor of Emerson-Hubbard.

Hartington-Newcastle outscored the Pirates 18-4 in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 49-20 at the end of three.

The Wildcats won the 4th quarter 13-12.

Daum totaled 8 points and 9 rebounds while Gentrup recorded 8 points. Mackling added 7 while Brynn Schock notched 7 rebounds.

The Indians went up 25-4 after one on Emerson-Hubbard and won the 2nd quarter 10-6 to take a 35-10 lead into the locker room.

Winnebago outscored the Pirates 21-3 in the 3rd quarter to go up 56-13 at the end of three.

Emerson-Hubbard won the 4th quarter 9-7.

Really tough stretch of the games for the Pirates.

Emerson-Hubbard (4-7) battles Osmond (2-9) on the road Friday night.

The Tigers won 42-39 at home over Neligh-Oakdale Tuesday night.

This is a game the Pirates and very well should win.

Emerson-Hubbard has lost to some really good teams, and I don't feel that Osmond is up there with the likes of BRLD and Ponca.

The Tigers are more at the Pirates' competition level, and I fully expect Emerson-Hubbard to come out and do and compete well.

Depth has been, is, and will continue to be an issue for Emerson-Hubbard, but the Pirates have to keep making the best of their situation and keep pressing forward.

I think Emerson-Hubbard has done quite well considering they only have 8 girls out for the team.

These girls are playing their hearts out and trying their best night in and night out, and that's all you can really ask for.

I feel the Pirates have a stretch of games coming up they can be very competitive and do well in.

Emerson-Hubbard hosts Wynot on Saturday, and the Blue Devils are a great, elite team, but games against Homer, Wakefield-Allen, and Pender coming up have better chances to be wins, in my opinion.

That's not saying the Pirates can't beat Wynot because anything can happen on any given night, but the Blue Devils are always tough to beat.

Emerson-Hubbard has to pick up a big win Friday night and give themselves a shot and boost of momentum heading into Saturday's contest.

This weekend is another big opportunity for the Pirates to win, do well, and be successful.

The Pirates really struggled last week and have been off so far this week, but I look for Emerson-Hubbard to get back on track with a win Friday night.

If the Pirates play well Friday night it wouldn't surprise me to see Emerson-Hubbard compete and keep things close with Wynot.

I don't know if an upset will happen, but I think the Pirates can make things interesting in that game potentially.
