Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys beat Raymond Central and West Point-Beemer; Girls defeat Mustangs, lose to Cadets

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys Basketball Team defeated Raymond Central 64-41 on the road Thursday night and West Point-Beemer 44-33 at home on Saturday.

The Raiders doubled up the Mustangs 20-10 in the 1st quarter before winning the 2nd quarter 17-12 to go up 37-22 at halftime.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder won the 3rd quarter 9-6 to extend their lead to 46-28 at the end of three.

The Raiders won the 4th quarter 18-13.

Trystain Roseberry had 21 points and 9 rebounds while Connor Larson and Riley Hoetfelker notched 19 and 13 points, respectively.

Head Coach Sean Forbes: "Yeah we kind of hang our hat on our defense. We kind of get after it, contain them, and then do a good job of rebounding. And I think we've got better throughout the year with our rebounding, and that's kind of what we want to hang our hat on is our defense."

LVSS went up 9-2 at the end of one on the Cadets. Both teams scored 10 points in the 2nd quarter, and the halftime score was 19-12 in favor of the Raiders.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder won the 3rd quarter 10-8 to go up 29-20 at the end of three.

The Raiders won the 4th quarter 15-13.

Hoetfelker notched 19 points while Larson totaled 15. Austin Peters added 8 rebounds.

Two great performances from LVSS last week.

The Raiders (10-6) take on Howells-Dodge (12-4) on the road Thursday night.

The Jaguars beat Tekamah-Herman 69-30 at home Monday night.

This game was supposed to be played Tuesday night, but was postponed due to the weather.

I think this game is a really good test and East Husker Conference Tournament preparation game for the Raiders.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder plays Stanton at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family in the first round of the tournament, and takes on the winner of the Bulldogs and Tekamah-Herman at BRLD next Tuesday night.

I think the Raiders can do some damage in the conference tournament, but Logan View/Scribner-Snyder needs to play a good game Thursday night.

The last thing the Raiders can afford to do is take a step back and not play good on Thursday.

I think it would of been good for LVSS to play Tuesday night given the fact the Jaguars also played Monday, but at the same time it now gives the Raiders a couple extra days of preparation and rest time.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to play a complete game like they did on Thursday and Saturday.

The Raiders have to play outstanding defense, which is what LVSS has relied upon this year.

Roseberry, Larson, and Hoetfelker need to have great games for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.

Those three have to score the way they did on Thursday, and in Hoetfelker and Larson's case on Saturday also.

I think the Raiders are playing well and peaking at the right time.

LVSS couldn't be playing better basketball than they are right now, in my opinion.

This team is young, but they are dangerous and a tough matchup for anyone they play.

If the Raiders play great defense once again Thursday night I think they stand a chance to win this one.

Howells-Dodge has had a really nice season though, and beating the Jaguars in Dodge will certainly not be easy.

The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Girls Basketball Team won 61-51 at Raymond Central Thursday night before losing 54-38 at home to West Point-Beemer on Saturday.

The Raiders jumped out to a 9-0 lead on the Mustangs and led 13-9 at the end of the 1st quarter.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder outscored Raymond Central 19-13 in the 2nd quarter to take a 32-22 lead into the locker room.

The Mustangs won the 3rd quarter 17-15 to make it a 47-39 game at the end of three in favor of the Raiders.

LVSS won the 4th quarter 14-12.

Josie Kahlandt had 19 points and 7 rebounds while Shaylin Daugherty posted a double-double of 15 points and 20 rebounds. Ashley Uhing added 11 points while Ashley Peters registered 10.

Head Coach Nick Hegge. "We really played well on offense. Thought we were getting good shots all night. The girls moved the ball well, and we stepped up and made some three pointers early. That kind of got us going, and we were really in a nice groove."

The Cadets went up 15-4 after one, and outscored the Raiders 14-6 in the 2nd quarter to take a 29-10 lead into the locker room.

West Point-Beemer won the 3rd quarter 14-12 to go up 43-22 at the end of three.

LVSS won the 4th quarter 16-11.

Daugherty notched 9 points and 17 rebounds while Valerie Uehling had 8 points. Kahlandt and Uhing notched 7 apiece.

Outstanding performance by the Raiders Thursday night and a good second half on Saturday.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (5-11) takes on Howells-Dodge (7-10) on the road Thursday night.

The Jaguars won 48-27 at home over Tekamah-Herman Monday night.

This game was supposed to be played Tuesday night, but was postponed due to the weather.

The Raiders get BRLD in the East Husker Conference Tournament at Humphrey Friday night, and need a good showing for momentum purposes heading into that tournament I would say.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder is definitely capable of playing well and winning too.

Pender beat Howells-Dodge 58-41 at home on Saturday, and certainly the Jaguars are beatable.

The game being in Dodge will definitely be an advantage for Howells-Dodge, but I fully expect the Raiders to go in there and battle hard.

Daugherty needs to have a big game offensively and defensively for LVSS, slowing down Erin Prusa and being a force on the boards and also on offense.

If Daugherty plays the way she did last week I think the Raiders have a really good chance to be successful.

Kahlandt, Uehling, Uhing, and Peters need to play well for LVSS also as well.

The Raiders need the same type of performance they got Thursday night.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to play fearless and must expect to win.

The Raiders have to play at a high level from start to finish, and turn in a complete game performance.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has to create some turnovers and make some easy baskets early to give themselves some confidence and kind of set the tone.

A slow start could really hurt and hamper the Raiders so they need to come fast out of the gates.

I think offense is going to be the key in this one for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.

The Raiders need to catch fire on that end of the floor like they did against the Mustangs to be able to win this one I would say.

A win for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder would be big heading into the Conference Tournament without a doubt.
