Tekamah-Herman Boys fall to BRLD, beat Clarkson/Leigh; Girls lose to both
The Tekamah-Herman Boys Basketball Team lost 71-15 at home to BRLD Friday night before snapping their 64-game losing streak on Saturday with a 54-48 home win over Clarkson/Leigh.
The Wolverines went up 28-2 on Tekamah-Herman after one, and outscored the Tigers 20-2 in the 2nd quarter to take a 48-4 lead into the locker room.
BRLD won the 3rd quarter 9-2 to go up 57-6 at the end of three.
The Wolverines won the 4th quarter 14-9.
The Tigers led 15-9 at the end of one before the Patriots won the 2nd quarter 10-8 to make it a 23-19 game at halftime in favor of Tekamah-Herman.
Clarkson/Leigh outscored Tekamah-Herman 22-12 in the 3rd quarter to pull in front 41-35 at the end of three
The Tigers outscored the Patriots 19-7 in the 4th quarter.
What a great job by Tekamah-Herman to win their first game since beating Friend at the Nebraska Wesleyan Holiday Tournament in the 2015-2016 season.
The Tigers (1-11) travel to Madison to take on the Dragons (5-6) Friday night.
Madison lost 62-28 at home to Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Tuesday night.
I think Tekamah-Herman has a legit chance and shot to win this one.
The Patriots beat the Dragons 75-57 if that's any indication of how this game is going to go.
I'll say this...if the Tigers play like they did on Saturday they're going to be difficult to beat Friday night.
After this, the schedule toughens so this is one Tekamah-Herman really needs to win and get.
Just winning a game...getting that monkey off your back....is a big deal for this program.
The Tigers had a very rough go of things against the Wolverines, but showed a lot of resolve and moxie in bouncing back on Saturday.
Tekamah-Herman could have pouted and felt sorry for themselves after Friday's game, but they didn't.
Instead, the Tigers came out and did something about it, and won a game.
Tekamah-Herman showed the true heart of a champion on Saturday, especially given the way the Tigers came back in the 4th quarter.
Tekamah-Herman could have folded and quit after getting down 6 at the end of the third quarter, but the Tigers showed a lot of fight and came and bounced back.
I look for this win to be kind of a turning point for Tekamah-Herman.
I think the Tigers will play better the rest of this season because of this win.
Tekamah-Herman may only win 3-4 games total this year, but that would be better than what the last three years have brought combined so it would be improvement nonetheless.
The Tigers just have to focus on playing a good game on Friday night and must bring their "A" game.
Tekamah-Herman has to bring it again on Saturday against West Point-Beemer as well.
The game against the Cadets will be aired on 107.9 the Bull after the Girls game, which is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
The Tekamah-Herman Girls lost 62-18 at home to BRLD Friday night and 25-22 at home to Clarkson/Leigh on Saturday.
The Patriots held a 6-5 lead on the Tigers at the end of one before Tekamah-Herman won the 2nd quarter 5-3 to go up 10-9 at halftime.
The Tigers won the 3rd quarter 7-6 to go up 17-15 at the end of three.
Clarkson/Leigh doubled up Tekamah-Herman 10-5 in the 4th quarter.
Great effort by the Tigers on Saturday. Tekamah-Herman nearly sprung the upset.
The Tigers (3-10) take on Madison (1-11) on the road Friday night.
The Dragons lost 57-35 at home to Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Tuesday night.
This should be a big win for Tekamah-Herman.
The Tigers host West Point-Beemer on Saturday, a game that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull, and need to play well on Friday to set the stage for Saturday.
A 20+ point win would be very helpful and beneficial for Tekamah-Herman Friday night, in my opinion.
The last thing the Tigers can afford to do is struggle against the Dragons.
Tekamah-Herman has to jump out to a big lead and never look back.
The Tigers have to play good, strong basketball from the start, and build a lead and keep adding to it.
Tekamah-Herman has to be relentless with their pressure defense, and must use their defense to get easy baskets in transition offensively.
The Tigers have to come into this one feeling good and confident, especially given how they played against the Patriots on Saturday.
If Tekamah-Herman wins big Friday night then perhaps they can make things interesting on Saturday.
The Tigers have their work cut out for them on Saturday against the Cadets and then on Tuesday against Oakland-Craig so playing well on Friday is paramount to playing well on Saturday and Tuesday I feel.
If Tekamah-Herman struggles on Friday then their struggles could definitely linger over into Saturday and Tuesday.
The Tigers hope that's not the case though.
Tekamah-Herman would no doubt love to win big on Friday, and make a push to beat both West Point-Beemer and Oakland-Craig in their next two games after that.
The Tigers have their work cut out for them against the Cadets and Knights, but to give themselves any shot in either game I feel Tekamah-Herman has to play well against Madison.
Saturday's game against West Point-Beemer will tip-off at 4:30 p.m. on the Bull.
