Pender Boys drop final regular season contest to Bancroft-Rosalie

The Pender Boys lost 68-47 at home to Bancroft-Rosalie Friday night in the regular season finale.

The Panthers led 18-13 at the end of one. Bancroft-Rosalie outscored the Pendragons 21-10 in the second quarter to lead 39-23 at halftime.

The Panthers won the third quarter 15-9 to go up 54-32 at the end of three.

Pender put up 15 fourth quarter points compared to 14 for Bancroft-Rosalie.

The Pendragons played better in this game than they had been. This was a decent performance by Pender.

The Pendragons (2-19) take on Allen (1-18) in the D1-5 Sub District at Ponca Monday night.

The Eagles lost 58-38 at home to Omaha Nation Friday night.

These two teams did not meet in the regular season.

This game could go either way, in my opinion.

I think Pender is definitely capable of winning, but so is Allen.

I think Monday night's game will be a close battle between two teams who could really use a postseason win to have something to build off of for next season.

That's not to say either one of these teams can't upset Randolph, because certainly anything is possible, but the winner of this game will be in better shape heading into next season, in my opinion.

Some people may see this play-in game doesn't matter, neither team is going anywhere. And while the second part of that statement could be true, I can tell you this game does matter to these coaches, players, and fans.

The Pendragons have to play their tails off and play with pride. Pender has to play with tenacity, grit, mental and physical toughness, passion, and heart.

If the Pendragons play one of their better games of the season, a win is a distinct possibility.

Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
