Wisner-Pilger Boys defeat Madison in last regular season game

The Wisner-Pilger Boys won 78-60 at Madison Friday night, snapping a 7-game losing streak.

The Gators led 19-17 after one. The Dragons won the second quarter 20-19 to make it a 38-37 game at halftime.

Wisner-Pilger outscored Madison 19-16 in the third quarter to lead 57-53 at the end of three.

The Gators tripled up the Dragons 21-7 in the fourth quarter.

This was a great win for Wisner-Pilger. The Gators put it all together and played well for four quarters, something they desperately needed to do before sub districts.

Wisner-Pilger (8-14) takes on Wayne (8-17) Monday night in the C1-7 Sub District Play-In game at Norfolk High.

The Blue Devils lost 50-30 to Pierce at home Friday night.

Wayne beat the Gators 53-44 in Wayne on December 18th.

That was a difficult, yet surprising loss to the Blue Devils, in my opinion. I thought Wisner-Pilger was going to win that game just like I think the Gators will win this time around.

Wayne has done some nice things this season, but it hasn't been a typical successful season for them.

Wisner-Pilger is also kind of down, but given the way the Gators played against Madison, I like the Gators' chances of winning Monday night.

If Wisner-Pilger hadn't played the way they did against the Dragons, I wouldn't be speaking this tune for the Gators.

But I really do think Wisner-Pilger will get the job done Monday night.

The winner gets Pierce on Tuesday, and obviously anything can happen in the postseason, so that's a challenge I'm sure the Gators would look forward to if they can knock off Wayne.

Wisner-Pilger has been upset this year, and has been close to upsetting a few teams of their own, so it will be interesting to see what happens.

Monday's game is set to start at 7:00 p.m.
