Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys drop final regular season game at Yutan
The Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys lost 69-61 at Yutan Friday night in the regular season finale.
The Raiders led 19-7 at the end of one before the Chieftains outscored Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 21-9 in the second quarter to tie the game at 28 at halftime.
Yutan won the third quarter 24-15 to go up 52-43 at the end of three.
The Raiders notched 18 fourth quarter points compared to 17 for the Chieftains.
Jacob Polk had a team-high 23 points while Ben Moxness totaled 18 points and 7 rebounds. Darnell Sims added 9 points.
Head Coach Sean Forbes says a combination of foul trouble and Yutan's post play led to defeat. "Yeah we played pretty well. We got in some foul trouble. Got up 11 and got into foul trouble in the second quarter, so then we let them tie it up. And we just had a little bit of trouble stopping their big guy Colton Feist. He's a really good player. We just struggled to keep him out of the paint."
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder got off to a great start in this game. The Raiders just weren't able to sustain the same level of play throughout the game.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (13-9) takes on Arlington (6-15) Tuesday night in the C1-6 Sub District at Oakland-Craig.
The Eagles lost 55-43 at Elkhorn Mount Michael Friday night.
Forbes expects a battle. "It's going to be a very tough game. This is the third time we've played them. We played them in the Holiday Tournament, and now they have Jackson Borgmann back. He's a really good player, tough to stop, so we're going to have to play our best to stay up with them. and we're pretty two equal teams."
The Raiders beat Arlington 48-43 at home last Saturday and 53-28 on December 30th in the Logan View Holiday Tournament.
I think this game has the potential to be close, but I also think Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has the potential to run away with things.
It's the postseason, and I look for the Raiders to increase their level of play in hopes of making a run.
I think Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has what it takes to knock off the Eagles and win the sub district.
The Raiders would no doubt have a tough sub district final, and this game with Arlington is no push over either, but Logan View/Scribner-Snyder is a tough team, and I expect the Raiders to play their best basketball of the season Tuesday night and beyond if they get further than one game.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder can't get caught looking ahead to a sub district final or district final. The Raiders' focus has to solely be on the Eagles.
It will be interesting to see what happens Tuesday night. I think Logan View/Scribner-Snyder will win, but you never know.
If anything, I expect the Raiders to get Arlington's best shot.
