Oakland-Craig Boys lose final regular season game at Archbishop Bergan

The Oakland-Craig Boys lost their final regular season game at Archbishop Bergan Friday night, falling 74-43.

Bergan led 19-5 at the end of one. Bergan won the second quarter 10-8 to go up 29-13 at halftime.

Oakland-Craig outscored Bergan 23-21 in the third quarter to make it a 50-36 game at the end of three.

Bergan notched 24 fourth quarter points and held Oakland-Craig to 7.

Garrett Seagren had a team-high 16 points and 8 rebounds while Carter Thiele totaled 10 points.

Oakland-Craig hung in there in the middle quarters. It was just the start and finish to the game that really hurt Oakland-Craig.

The Knights (9-13) battle GACC (15-8) in the C2-3 Sub District at Pender Tuesday night.

The Bluejays lost 79-73 at home to Winnebago Friday night to end the regular season.

GACC beat Oakland-Craig 75-49 in Oakland on December 22nd.

The Knights are a quality team, but need to step things up and play well against the Bluejays this time around.

Many people, including me, are thinking a GACC/Winnebago sub district final, but it would be so fitting for Oakland-Craig to spoil the party.

I think the Knights can win, I just don't know if it will happen.

Oakland-Craig has to play a lot better than they did against Bergan and the first time around against the Bluejays.

Scoring isn't the problem for the Knights. It's slowing down GACC that I worry about with this team.

The Bluejays have played very well offensively their last two games, and if the first meeting between these two teams is any indication, GACC could very well put up quite a few points again.

It all starts on the defensive end of the floor for Oakland-Craig. The Knights have to come up with timely stops and baskets to knock off the Bluejays.

Oakland-Craig could definitely prove me wrong so we'll see what happens.

Tuesday's game is set to tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
