West Point-Beemer Boys fall at Oakland-Craig to end regular season
The West Point-Beemer Boys lost 72-61 at Oakland-Craig last Friday night to end the regular season.
The Knights doubled up the Cadets 24-12 in the first quarter. Oakland-Craig outscored West Point-Beemer 20-14 in the second quarter to take a 44-26 lead into the locker room.
The Cadets won the third quarter 12-11 to make it a 55-38 game at the end of three.
West Point-Beemer put up 23 fourth quarter points compared to 17 for the Knights.
Chase Streeter had a team-high 20 points and 7 rebounds. Austin Streeter totaled 14 points while Blake Schroedter recorded 9.
The Cadets had a tough time slowing down Oakland-Craig's offense. West Point-Beemer scored enough points to win, it was just their defense that let them down.
The Cadets (8-15) square off with Tekamah-Herman (2-19) Monday night in the C1-6 Sub District Bunny Bracket game at Oakland-Craig.
The Tigers lost 55-29 at Douglas County West Friday night to end the regular season.
West Point-Beemer defeated Tekamah-Herman 48-36 at home on January 16th.
The Cadets should be able to defeat the Tigers again as Tekamah-Herman lost Derek Haber to a season-ending torn ACL.
The Tigers have really struggled to score since Haber's departure.
Certainly other players are capable of stepping up and scoring for Tekamah-Herman, but West Point-Beemer has to like their chances of advancing.
The Cadets need to have the same kind of offensive output that they had against the Knights though.
If West Point-Beemer can get to 50 in this game, they should be in good shape.
The Cadets have to watch out for Gus Langley, Dustin Pickell, Bailey Fleischman, and Matt Gross.
As long as West Point-Beemer doesn't let three or all of them go off, they should be fine.
Looking at the bigger picture, I think the Cadets have what it takes to get past the bunny bracket game and upset Fort Calhoun on Tuesday. That would certainly be quite the accomplishment for this team.
Listen to Monday night's game on 107.9 the Bull. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
