Bancroft-Rosalie Boys top West Point-Beemer, blow lead at North Bend Central
The Bancroft-Rosalie Boys won 53-49 at West Point-Beemer on Saturday in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament before losing 66-58 at North Bend Central in the tournament quarterfinals Monday night.
The Panthers led the Cadets 19-13 after one. West Point-Beemer won the second quarter 11-9 to make it a 28-24 game at the half.
Bancroft-Rosalie outscored the Cadets 11-10 in the third quarter to go up 39-34 at the end of three.
West Point-Beemer notched 15 fourth quarter points compared to 14 for the Panthers.
Aaron Ras totaled a team-high 17 points. Mario Aldrich and Trent Gatewood added 9 each while Jacob Zuhlke totaled 7.
The Panthers led the Tigers 15-14 after one. North Bend Central won the second quarter 15-14 to tie the game at 29 at halftime.
Bancroft-Rosalie outscored North Bend Central 21-16 in the third quarter to go up 50-45 at the end of three.
Trailing 58-47 in the fourth quarter, the Tigers went on a 19-0 run to end the game. North Bend Central put up 21 fourth quarter points and held Bancroft-Rosalie to 8.
Aldrich led the team with 17 points. Ras notched 15 while Gatewood totaled 13.
The Panthers let one get away against the Tigers. That's a game Bancroft-Rosalie had and should of won.
The Panthers (9-9) square off with Howells-Dodge (8-11) Friday night in an East Husker Conference Tournament Consolation game at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family.
The Jaguars lost 71-46 at Twin River in the tournament quarterfinals Monday night.
This should be a really good game between two fairly equal teams.
I look for both teams to get after one another, and make the game interesting and compelling.
Both teams have a number of players who can score the ball. Defense could be optional in this game.
I feel Jaguars are a little bit stronger defensively, and if Howells-Dodge plays good defense in this game, it could be the difference.
These two teams are set to square off again in Bancroft on Tuesday so it will be interesting to see who wins round one.
I feel the game could definitely go either way. The same goes for Tuesday's game.
These two teams could split their regular season matchups, or one team could take them both, it just depends on how well both teams play in both matchups.
First order of business is win Friday night. We will see who prevails.
I would give the slightest edge to the Jaguars, but anything can happen. I could be dead wrong on predicting the winner.
Friday night's game is set to start after the Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family/Clarkson/Leigh game.
