North Bend Central tops Tekamah-Herman, falls to Howells-Dodge to end regular season
The North Bend Central Girls won 34-31 at home against Tekamah-Herman Tuesday night before falling 52-40 at Howells-Dodge Thursday night to end the regular season.
The Tigers led Howells-Dodge 11-6 at the end of one. The Jaguars won the second quarter 7-6 to make it a 17-13 game at halftime.
Howells-Dodge outscored North Bend Central 8-5 in the third quarter to make it a 22-21 game at the end of three.
The Jaguars put up 21 fourth quarter points and held the Tigers to 8.
North Bend Central played Howells-Dodge tough, and did a good job to beat Tekamah-Herman.
North Bend Central (16-5) takes on Columbus Lakeview (11-11) in the C1-4 Sub District at Columbus High Friday night.
The Vikings beat David City 53-40 in the play-in game Monday night.
The two teams did not meet in the regular season.
Columbus Lakeview isn't a bad team, but all but one of their wins have come over teams with records of .500 or below.
This game has the potential for an upset, but I just don't see it happening.
I think the Tigers are good enough to beat the Vikings, and get to the sub district final.
I think North Bend Central has a pretty good chance to win this sub district.
Waiting on the other side could very well be Lincoln Christian.
If the Tigers were to play the Crusaders in a district final, it would be a very difficult match up for North Bend Central.
The Tigers just have to focus on getting past Columbus Lakeview first though, and then winning their sub district final before worrying about a district final.
I think North Bend Central has a good chance to get to another district final so we will see how it all plays out.
Tuesday's game is set to tip-off at 6:00 p.m.
