Tekamah-Herman Boys fall in East Husker Conference Tournament to Stanton
The Tekamah-Herman Boys lost 73-48 at Stanton in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament on Saturday.
The Mustangs led the Tigers 21-12 at the end of one. Stanton outscored Tekamah-Herman 23-9 in the second quarter to take a 44-21 lead into the locker room.
The Mustangs won the third quarter 20-12 to go up 64-33 at the end of three.
The Tigers scored 15 fourth quarter points compared to 9 for Stanton.
Derek Haber had a team-high 20 points while Dustin Pickell and Gus Langley notched 9 and 8, respectively.
Tekama-Herman had a tough go of things on Saturday. The Tigers no doubt gave it their all, but the Mustangs were simply too strong for Tekamah-Herman.
The Tigers (2-15) square off with Logan View/Scribner-Snyder (10-8) Friday night in an East Husker Conference Tournament Consolation game.
The Raiders were upset 64-58 in overtime by Clarkson/Leigh on Saturday.
This is a very intriguing game if you ask me. I'm interested to find out how interested Logan View/Scribner-Snyder is in playing this consolation game.
I think Tekamah-Herman is probably glad to be here, but I'm not so sure the Raiders are feeling the same way.
The Tigers have to play hard and well and believe in themselves. Tekamah-Herman has to be loose and play with confidence.
Haber, Pickell, and Langley all need to play the way they did against Stanton, and the Tigers have to play a much better game defensively than they did against the Mustangs.
The good news for Tekamah-Herman is Logan View/Scribner-Snyder isn't the strongest team offensively even though they scored 77 on the Tigers when the two teams met on December 18th in Tekamah.
I think Friday night's game will be a lot closer than the 77-41 game on the 18th of December.
Tekamah-Herman has yet to win a game in 2016, but I think the Tigers are capable of changing that Friday night.
I don't know if Tekamah-Herman will win, but I think it's possible. We will see.
Friday night's game is scheduled to tip-off at 6:00 p.m.
