Bancroft-Rosalie Girls drop final two games of regular season
The Bancroft-Rosalie Girls lost 59-38 at home to Howells-Dodge Tuesday night before rounding out the regular season Friday night with a 63-57 home loss to Omaha Nation.
The Jaguars led the Panthers 20-11 after one. Howells-Dodge won the second quarter 17-12 to take a 37-23 lead into the locker room.
The Jaguars outscored Bancroft-Rosalie 12-5 in the third quarter to lead 49-28 at the end of three.
Both teams scored 10 fourth quarter points.
Vicki Gatzmeyer notched a team-high 11 points. Tess Nottleman and Paige Peters added 10 apiece.
The Chiefs led the Panthers 18-11 at the end of one. Bancroft-Rosalie doubled up Omaha Nation 18-9 in the second quarter to lead 29-27 at halftime.
The Panthers won the third quarter 12-10 to go up 41-37 at the end of three.
The Chiefs outscored Bancroft-Rosalie 26-16 in the fourth quarter.
Peters led the way with 27 points while Gatzmeyer totaled 9. Tiahna Bonneau and Hannah Flock each had 9 rebounds while Nottleman registered 8.
The Panthers came close to beating Omaha Nation. Bancroft-Rosalie just couldn't finish in the fourth quarter.
The Panthers (7-13) battle Lyons-Decatur Northeast (13-7) in the D2-3 sub district at Clarkson Tuesday evening.
The two teams met in the first game of the season with the Cougars winning 48-44.
This is a significant game because it is going to be the last time one of these teams takes the floor as the team they are right now.
It has been known for a while now that these two teams will be co-oping next year and joining forces.
I'm sure Bancroft-Rosalie would really like to win this game to continue their season and play at least one more game as the Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers.
I think Bancroft-Rosalie is certainly capable of winning, but the Panthers have to finish much stronger than they did against Omaha Nation, and play a much better game than they did against Howells-Dodge.
If the regular season game is any indication of how Tuesday's game is going to go, then fans are in for a real treat.
Gatzmeyer, Nottleman, Peters, Bonneau, Flock, Kassidi Browning, Mariah Petersen, Kelcee Bacon, and others all need to step up and have good games for Bancroft-Rosalie.
This should be a really good game between two teams who are looking to go out in style and have one last hoorah.
This sub district is very winnable for either team so both teams have to play their hearts out and leave it all out on the floor.
Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
