Winnebago Boys beat Guardian Angels Central Catholic to end regular season

The Winnebago Boys defeated Guardian Angels Central Catholic 79-73 on the road Friday night.

This was another tough, close, hard fought victory for the Indians, who remain perfect on the season.

Winnebago (26-0) battles Wakefield (6-15) Tuesday night in the C2-3 Sub District at Pender.

The Trojans downed Homer 50-40 at home Friday night.

The two teams met last Tuesday in Wakefield with the Indians winning 79-44.

I look for Tuesday night's game to be similar to that, although it could be a little closer.

The biggest thing for Winnebago is to be focused and ready to play.

It's very possible that the Indians could face GACC in the sub district final on Thursday, but Winnebago has to take care of business against the Trojans first.

The Indians' offense has to be in high gear, and Winnebago needs to play solid defense as well.

If I'm the Indians I might be a little concerned about the Bluejays. That's why Winnebago has to be focused on Tuesday. The Indians need to have good habits prior to a potential match up with GACC.

I think Winnebago has a good chance to advance through this sub district and reach a district final, but upsets happen this time of year.

I think there's a chance the Indians could get knocked off, but I also think Winnebago has a good chance to win this sub district and keep their undefeated record intact.

The Indians are as good as anyone when they're on, but lately, Winnebago has been tested. It makes for an interesting postseason, that's for sure.

Tuesday's game is set to tip-off at 6:00 p.m.
