Pender Boys fall to Madison
The Pender Boys lost 80-41 at home to Madison on Saturday.
The Dragons held a 21-11 lead at the end of one. Madison outscored the Pendragons 25-10 in the second quarter to go up 46-21 at halftime.
The Dragons won the third quarter 23-12 to lead 69-33 at the end of three.
Madison notched 11 fourth quarter points compared to 8 for Pender.
The Pendragons really struggled. It just hasn't been the best season for Pender.
The Pendragons (2-18) host Bancroft-Rosalie (11-10) Friday night to end the regular season.
The Panthers lost 76-72 at home to Omaha Nation this past Friday night.
Bancroft-Rosalie went through a midseason struggle, but appears to have gotten back on track.
This isn't going to be an easy game for Pender, just like most other games this season.
The Pendragons have to play much better on both sides of the floor if they hope to compete with and beat the Panthers.
It's the last game of the regular season, and certainly anything can happen, but Pender is going to have to play an amazing game to knock off Bancroft-Rosalie.
I don't think there's any doubt it's going to take the Pendragons' best effort and then some to get the job done.
Pender is certainly capable of playing well and competing with Bancroft-Rosalie, but actually doing it is another thing.
The Pendragons have to play their tails off and give an all out effort.
If Pender can at least make things close, it might serve as a momentum booster heading into the postseason.
I'm sure the Pendragons are past moral victories, but if Pender does lose close, that can still be encouraging.
We will see what the Pendragons can do. I certainly don't think things are going to be easy for Pender.
