Guardian Angels Central Catholic Boys lose regular season finale to Winnebago
The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Boys lost 79-73 at home to Winnebago Friday night in the regular season finale.
The Bluejays did a nice job challenging and pushing the Indians. GACC didn't win, but the Bluejays now know they can play right with Winnebago.
GACC (15-8) takes on Oakland-Craig (9-13) in the C2-3 Sub District at Pender Tuesday night.
Oakland-Craig lost 74-43 at Archbishop Bergan Friday night, but otherwise has had a pretty good season.
Defense has been an issue for Oakland-Craig at times this season, and when the Knights aren't on offensively, they are in trouble.
The best thing the Bluejays can do is play outstanding defense and try and create turnovers into easy transition baskets.
Oakland-Craig is a quality team, but GACC beat them 75-49 in Oakland on December 22nd, and I think the Bluejays have a chance to win big again.
I could also see Tuesday night's game being closer than the first match up, but the Knights would have to play better and GACC would have to play worse than the first time these two teams met.
I'm sure the Bluejays have their sights set on a rematch with Winnebago in Thursday's Sub District Final, and while that could happen, GACC has to be focused on beating Oakland-Craig.
The Bluejays have to take things one game, one step at a time, and not get too ahead of themselves.
If GACC does that, then they should be in good shape.
I look for the Bluejays to win and advance to Thursday night's sub district final against Winnebago.
Tuesday night's game is set to tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
