Clarkson/Leigh Girls fall to Battle Creek in Sub Districts
The Clarkson/Leigh Girls lost 39-31 to Battle Creek last Monday night in the C2-5 Play-In Game at Norfolk Catholic.
The Braves doubled up the Patriots 18-9 in the first quarter. Battle Creek won the second quarter 9-6 to lead 27-15 at halftime.
Clarkson/Leigh outscored the Braves 7-6 in the third quarter to make it a 33-22 game at the end of three.
The Patriots notched 9 fourth quarter points and held Battle Creek to 6.
The first quarter was pretty much the difference in the game. Clarkson/Leigh played right with the Braves otherwise.
The Patriots conclude the season with a 4-19 record.
It was a tough season for Clarkson/Leigh. Things definitely didn't go the way the Patriots would have liked for the most part, but I think the one thing you can say about this team is they never gave up.
Clarkson/Leigh kept fighting until the bitter end, and didn't go down quietly.
The Patriots part ways with Alyssa Novotny, Megan Svehla, Camille Koehn, Maddie Cerv, and Jessi Sayers.
These five seniors did a good job leading this team this season, and should be commended for their efforts.
Clarkson/Leigh returns Beth Wiese, Kaegan Held, and Shelby Paprocki, among other players.
The Patriots lose some talent, but bring back talent as well.
I think Clarkson/Leigh has a chance to be better next season than they were this year.
The Patriots don't have a lot of momentum from this season to build off of so that's why a big offseason is critical for this team.
Clarkson/Leigh's returning players and newcomers have to dedicate themselves to the weight room and the gym everyday.
It's hard saying how good the Patriots will be next year, but I will say there is a lot of room for growth and improvement before November arrives.
I don't think there's any doubt Clarkson/Leigh has the potential to be better next year than they were this year.
