Tekamah-Herman Boys lose to Fort Calhoun and Ashland-Greenwood
The Tekamah-Herman Boys lost 63-37 at home to Fort Calhoun last Tuesday night before falling 59-25 at home to Ashland-Greenwood Thursday night.
The Pioneers led the Tigers 17-7 after one. Fort Calhoun outscored Tekamah-Herman 22-7 in the second quarter to take a 39-14 lead into the locker room.
Both teams scored 13 third quarter points, and the score at the end of three was 52-27 in favor of the Tigers.
Fort Calhoun notched 11 fourth quarter points compared to 10 for Tekamah-Herman.
Gus Langley finished with 13 points and 7 rebounds while Dustin Pickell notched 8 points. Matt Gross added 7 points and 7 rebounds.
The Bluejays led the Tigers 22-7 at the end of the first quarter. Ashland-Greenwood tripled up Tekamah-Herman 12-4 in the second quarter to take a 34-11 lead into the locker room.
The Bluejays won the third quarter 11-8 to go up 45-19 at the end of three.
Ashland-Greenwood totaled 14 fourth quarter points and limited the Tigers to 6.
Langley and Pickell had 8 points apiece for Tekamah-Herman.
The Tigers really struggled last week. It just hasn't been the best season for Tekamah-Herman.
The Tigers (2-18) take on Douglas County West (10-9) on the road Friday night to end the regular season.
The Falcons lost 60-42 at home to Platteview Friday night after winning three straight.
It's not going to be easy for Tekamah-Herman to win, but the Tigers have to play a lot better than they did against Fort Calhoun and Ashland-Greenwood.
I thought the game with the Bluejays would be a lot closer than it was, but it just wasn't meant to be.
Perhaps Tekamah-Herman can make up for that game and play better against Douglas County West, but it's going to take a tremendous effort on the Tigers' part.
Tekamah-Herman has to be mentally and physically tough and play with tenacity, grit, heart, pride, and passion.
The Tigers have to dive on the floor after loose balls and be willing to sacrifice their bodies.
Tekamah-Herman has to outwork, outplay, and outhustle the Falcons. The Tigers have to want it more than Douglas County West.
The Falcons will no doubt want to send their seniors out on a high note with it being the final game of the season.
It has been a difficult season for Tekamah-Herman without a doubt, but the Tigers have to continue to fight.
Tekamah-Herman can't give up. The Tigers have to go out swinging, and give teams their best shot.
Tekamah-Herman may not win another game this season, but the Tigers have to keep trying and play hard.
