The Indians notched 24 fourth quarter points compared to 16 for the Trojans.
Winnebago had some close calls in the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament, but won, and that's all that matters. The Indians really got back on track against Wakefield.
Winnebago (24-0) squares off with Gothenburg (16-6) at the Heartland Hoops Classic in Grand Island on Saturday.
The Swedes lost 75-72 in overtime at Ainsworth Thursday night.
Gothenburg is a good team, and this should be a pretty respectable game.
The Swedes are led by Dawson Graham, Patrick Messersmith, Collin Hahn, Riley Ostendorf, and Ty Clement.
I don't know if Gothenburg is as good as they were last year, but the Swedes are still a quality team.
This should be a fun, neat experience for the players, coaches, and fans.
It's not state, but it's the next best thing.
Year in and year out there are good teams at the Heartland Hoops Classic.
This game is just one of many that will feature good teams.
I think the Indians will win, but Winnebago has to play well.
I don't really know how Gothenburg compares to some of the teams in the Lewis and Clark Conference, but I would imagine the Swedes would be in the upper portion of the conference.
I think Gothenburg is probably just about as good as Creighton, Walthill, and Randolph.
A lot of people will be coming to watch the Indians, and this game will no doubt help Winnebago get ready for state.
These players and coaches are already used to the big stage, and this is another game for the Indians to go out and get their program out there as one of the best in the state.
