Emerson-Hubbard Girls roll through D1-5 Sub District
The Emerson-Hubbard Girls won Sub District D1-5 at Ponca last week, downing Allen 57-18 last Tuesday night and Pender 57-42 last Thursday night.
The Pirates led the Eagles 15-6 after one. Emerson-Hubbard won the second quarter 15-6 to lead 30-12 at halftime.
The Pirates outscored Allen 18-4 in the third quarter to go up 48-16 at the end of three.
Emerson-Hubbard put up 9 fourth quarter points and held the Eagles to 2.
The Pirates led Pender 14-6 at the end of one. Both teams scored 17 second quarter points, and the halftime score was 31-23 in favor of Emerson-Hubbard.
The Pendragons won the third quarter 13-8 to make it a 39-36 game at the end of three.
The Pirates tripled up Pender 18-6 in the fourth quarter.
Emerson-Hubbard did a masterful job getting through sub districts. The Pirates were challenged through three quarters by the Pendragons, but stepped up when it mattered the most.
Emerson-Hubbard (24-1) battles North Central (17-6) in the D1-3 District Final at Battle Creek Friday night.
The Knights defeated Boyd County 35-33 last Thursday night in the D1-6 Sub District Final at Creighton.
North Central is a respectable team, but the Knights haven't faced the toughest competition.
The Pirates have played the tougher schedule, and should win Friday night.
With that said, it's a district final and anything can happen.
Emerson-Hubbard has to be on top of their game with the chance at the number one seed still a possibility.
The Pirates aren't very far behind Friend in power points, and a win could potentially give Emerson-Hubbard the one seed.
The Pirates have a lot to play for and need to play well Friday night.
I think Pender is a better team than North Central, so again, Emerson-Hubbard should win, but you never know.
The Pirates need to step up and take care of business like I know they are capable of. Emerson-Hubbard needs to play well to gear up for what they will see in the state tournament.
There's one step before state, and that's win a district title. And I'm sure the Pirates would rather enter state as district champions than as a wildcard recipient.
Friday night's game is set to tip-off at 7:00 p.m.
