Emerson-Hubbard Girls win regular season finale at Walthill
The Emerson-Hubbard Girls rounded out the regular season with a 75-30 win at Walthill Friday night.
The Pirates led 19-4 after one. Emerson-Hubbard outscored the Blujays 35-12 in the second quarter to go up 54-16 at halftime.
The Pirates won the third quarter 11-8 to lead 65-24 at the end of three.
Emerson-Hubbard notched 10 fourth quarter points compared to 6 for Walthill.
This was a very impressive, dominating performance from the Pirates. It's just what Emerson-Hubbard needed heading into the postseason.
The Pirates (22-1) square off with Allen (8-12) in the D1-5 Sub District at Ponca Tuesday night.
The Eagles defeated Walthill 53-37 in the play-in game Monday night.
The two teams met on January 28th in Emerson with the Pirates winning 57-17.
I don't think there's any doubt Emerson-Hubbard will win big and dominate Allen again.
The game might be a little bit closer than 40 points this time around, but I would imagine the Pirates will win anywhere from 25-30 points at least.
It's very possible Emerson-Hubbard will meet Pender in the Sub District Final, but the Pirates have to focus on taking care of Allen first.
Emerson-Hubbard has done a good job of not overlooking people this season, and has been consistently good pretty much the whole year.
The Pirates are most likely going to state regardless of how they do in Sub Districts, but Emerson-Hubbard would no doubt like to get to state by winning their way through the postseason.
I think the Pirates have a good chance to do just that, and it starts with beating the Eagles Tuesday night.
Emerson-Hubbard has to get off to a strong start, just like they did against Walthill.
The Pirates have to play well throughout the game to win big. I fully expect them to do that.
It's that time of year where any win is a good win so Emerson-Hubbard has to do what they have done all season, and if anything, raise their level of play.
Tuesday evening's game is set to tip-off at 6:00 p.m.
