Lyons-Decatur Northeast Boys beat Wisner-Pilger, lose at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder

The Lyons-Decatur Northeast Boys downed Wisner-Pilger 47-42 at home last Tuesday night before falling 43-41 at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Friday night.

Wisner-Pilger led the Cougars 17-10 after one. Lyons-Decatur Northeast outscored the Gators 17-6 in the second quarter to lead 27-23 at halftime.

Wisner-Pilger won the third quarter 9-6 to make it a 33-32 game at the end of three.

The Cougars notched 14 fourth quarter points compared to 10 for the Gators.

Hunter Ferguson registered 11 points to lead the team while Tyler Hardeman notched 10. Cole Christoffersen totaled 8 points and 8 rebounds while Marcus Hegy scored 7 points.

The Raiders led the Cougars 13-5 at the end of one. Logan View/Scribner-Snyder won the second quarter 12-9 to go up 25-14 at halftime.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast outscored the Raiders 14-6 in the third quarter to make it a 31-28 game at the end of three.

The Cougars notched 13 fourth quarter points compared to 12 for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder.

Hegy led all scorers with 27 points.

Head Coach Derek Lahm. "This Logan View/Scribner-Snyder team's an excellent team. So a lot of fun, good opportunity to really kind of see what it's going to be like here down the stretch."

Lyons-Decatur Northeast (14-7) battles Emerson-Hubbard (8-12) on the road Friday night in the regular season finale.

The Pirates lost 88-56 at Walthill Friday night, and have lost three in a row.

These two teams met on December 29th in the Omaha Nation Holiday Tournament with the Cougars winning 53-44.

Just like that game, I anticipate this contest being close.

Something has to give as Lyons-Decatur Northeast has lost three out of their last four.

Both teams really need a win to get back on track and gain momentum for sub districts.

The Cougars probably need this one more than the Pirates as Lyons-Decatur Northeast is hoping for a big postseason run.

That's not to say Emerson-Hubbard can't do something in the postseason, but the Cougars are the team with the better chance to do postseason damage.

Alec Anderson, Hardeman, Marcus Hegy, Montana Riecken, Christoffersen, and Ferguson need to have good games for Lyons-Decatur Northeast.

The Cougars need to be ready to take the Pirates' best shot as Emerson-Hubbard is playing their final home game.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast shouldn't be surprised if things are tight and they find themselves trailing at some point in the game.

I think the Cougars will win, but anything can happen so Lyons-Decatur Northeast must be ready to play well for four quarters.
