GACC Girls 2-1 in last three games

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Girls suffered their first loss of the season last Thursday night, falling 48-45 to Kearney Catholic in Seward. The Bluejays rebounded to beat Battle Creek 69-39 Monday night in the Mid-State Conference Tournament quarterfinals before downing Wayne 62-27 in the tournament semifinals Thursday night.

GACC was tied at 10 with the Stars at the end of one. Kearney Catholic outscored the Bluejays 12-4 in the second quarter to take a 22-14 lead into the locker room.

GACC won the third quarter 13-6 to make it a 28-27 game at the end of three.

The Stars notched 20 fourth quarter points compared to 18 for the Bluejays.

GACC led the Braves 22-5 after one. The Bluejays outscored Battle Creek 20-9 in the second quarter to lead 42-14 at the end of three.

GACC won the third quarter 18-10 to go up 60-24 at the end of three.

The Braves notched 15 fourth quarter points compared to 9 for the Bluejays.

GACC led the Blue Devils 19-6 at the end of one. The Bluejays won the second quarter 14-9 to take a 33-15 lead into the locker room.

GACC outscored Wayne 16-5 in the third quarter to go up 49-20 after three.

The Bluejays put up 13 fourth quarter points and held the Blue Devils to 7.

GACC could have beaten Kearney Catholic, in my opinion, but didn't quite get the job done. Perhaps if the Bluejays were at full strength they would have won.

GACC (19-1) battles Crofton (17-2) in the Mid-State Conference Championship Game Saturday night at Northeast Community College in Norfolk.

The Warriors beat Pierce 59-41 in the semifinals of the conference tournament Thursday night.

The Bluejays beat Crofton 39-35 at home back on December 12th.

That was early in the season when GACC was at full strength and the Warriors weren't playing as good as they are right now, in my opinion.

I'm not saying Crofton will win this time, because the Bluejays definitely have a good chance to knock off the Warriors for a second time, but it's going to be difficult.

GACC needs to play one of their better games of the year to come out on top.

It could be argued that the Bluejays are a better team now than they were in December, but I'm not sure if GACC is back at full strength yet.

Now appears to be the time to get the Bluejays if you are going to get them.

The Stars were successful in knocking off GACC so it just goes to show the Bluejays can be beat.

I really think this is going to be a tough game for GACC. We will see how good the Bluejays are and how far they have come since December.

It would be a big deal for GACC to knock off the Warriors for a second time, and it can certainly happen.

The Bluejays just have to play their game and execute at a high level.

Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. at Northeast Community College in Norfolk.
