Emerson-Hubbard Boys lose at Walthill
The Emerson-Hubbard Boys lost 88-56 at Walthill Friday night.
I thought perhaps the Pirates could keep things closer, but it wasn't meant to be.
Emerson-Hubbard (8-12) hosts Lyons-Decatur Northeast (14-7) Friday night in the regular season finale.
The Cougars lost 43-41 at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Friday night.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast has lost three out of their last four, although the losses have come to quality teams.
I think the Pirates have a chance to be competitive, but Emerson-Hubbard is going to have to play much better than they did against the Blujays.
It's the last game of the regular season, and certainly anything can happen.
I'm sure the Pirates would love to upset the Cougars, and win their final home game for the seniors.
You can bet Lyons-Decatur Northeast really wants this one too though for momentum purposes heading into sub districts so expect the Cougars to play a good game.
I'm sure Lyons-Decatur Northeast wants to use this game as a springboard to bigger things in the postseason, but if Emerson-Hubbard can pick up the win, I think it might give the Pirates the confidence needed to make things competitive with Walthill in sub districts.
Emerson-Hubbard has their work cut out for them, but if the Pirates play their best game of the year, they could win.
I do think it's going to take Emerson-Hubbard's best game of the year for the Pirates to win though.
Emerson-Hubbard has to try and contain Alec Anderson, Marcus Hegy, Montana Riecken, Hunter Ferguson, and Cole Christoffersen.
If the Pirates can limit every one of those players, they should be in good shape. That's much easier said than done though.
